somebody misses you when you're away
Who: Regina Mills & Michonne
Where: A random room on a random floor
When: November 5th
Rating: PG
Summary: Sometimes you just gotta spend a quiet, fancy night with your lady
The Story:
[A lot has happened since their last date night and the entire time, Regina's been trying to plan something that will match what Michonne did for her. And finally, once Henry tells her about her future, it hits her.
So Regina spends a lot of time in a high numbered room, setting it up and getting everything just right. She has a very specific vision in mind and despite the attached memories... And a very "fuck you for that one, Rumple" moment when she recalls a conversation about seeing the future, she wants to reclaim it. Sort of. With the woman she loves.
When she finally has it done, she leaves a note saying "wear me and come to [floor and room number]" next to an incredibly fancy, Enchanted Forest-esque dress somewhere Michonne will see it. When she arrives at the room, the door opens to a fancy palace chamber and Regina holding a single rose.]

Somehow, though, it gets done, and she ties back her locs for what appears to be a promising night and even puts a little color on her lips. Slipping into shoes that complete the outfit, she examines herself in the mirror - let her opposite be jealous as hell. Satisfied the deep wine colored gown looks right, she leaves her katana in its designated corner and makes her way to the floor and the room, slowly opening the door.
Eyes sweeping the space, they finally land on Regina and this time, Michonne does try to suppress a smile, if only to build the anticipation. ]
Was all this for me?
[ Asked cheekily as she walks forward, toward Regina. ]
no subject
Of course.
[Taking her hand, Regina leads her to the massive table and its incredibly elaborate and lavish spread.]
no subject
Is this what it would have been like? In your castle? All this food, and me to share it with?
[ Because look, she's inserted herself into the scenario where she somehow soothes Regina's heart early, that they heal together in a different sort of way. It's wishful thinking, she knows, but she can't help feeling like this is a love that could have endured anywhere, in any time or place. ]
no subject
Would that be better or worse, she wonders, before pushing those thoughts down and offering her a smile.]
Something like that. [A beat.] I might not have decorated it to look like this if you were here.
[Or would they have embraced the villain aesthetic and life?? Who knows.]

Do I have to sit all the way at the other end like they do in movies?
[ She's joking, because hell if she would anyway. But she steps back, just to look at Regina in that dress. Her eyes move slowly, fully aware of what she's doing, nothing but appreciation in her eyes before clearing her throat. ]
This isn't the most eloquent response I've ever given but it's all I can come up with, so. Damn.
no subject
[Probably not true? But also who gives a shit it's her palace.
Regina flushes underneath Michonne's appraisal and smiles despite herself. It only deepens when she says that.]
You've said so much with just one word. I'll take it.
no subject
This is really good. You outdid yourself this time.
[ She pulls back only to let Regina lead them to their seats, putting down her rose with reverence (she'll dry it out, keep it as long as she's in Wonderland). ]
no subject
I'm glad you like it. It's not quite the same because of Wonderland's magic, but it's as close as I could get.
[One day she'll show Michonne her actual palace and it'll be one of the greatest days of her life.]
no subject
[ She asks that as she sits, because it all looks pretty damn good to her. ]
Because you know, as much as this really is incredible, there's only one thing in this room that really matters.
[ Michonne pauses for a beat, looking at Regina with so much love before glancing back at the table. ]
And that's this food.
[ JOKING. But she couldn't help herself. ]
no subject
[As dark and dreary as she made the palace, the view was always breathtaking. One day, she'll show Michonne the real thing and then some. No views marred by zombie hordes for her, not anymore.]
Oh, I know. You should try the roast swan, it has a flavour you should really... savior.
[Not a typo.
I hate myself.
But she fucking would and you know it.]

Been a long time since I've had a dinner like this. At home, I mean.
[ She serves herself, then cuts some for Regina too. ]
I'm startin' to get spoiled here.
[ By a certain someone!!! ]
no subject
Get used to it. This is the kind of life you deserve, and I'll do anything I can to make it happen.
[Even if that means tearing a hole in Wonderland so they can escape to Storybrooke.
Even if it means finding a way back to Storybrooke with her memories intact without Michonne and finding a way to save her from her world. They can fall in love all over again, as long as she's safe.]
no subject
But her words do something to Michonne's heart; all of this, the date itself, the dresses, the food, none of it matters compared to the woman who put it all together. Who, even outside of Wonderland, wants her there, with her. ]
And uh, what are the residents of Storybrooke gonna say about a katana-wielding woman with dreadlocks making out with the mayor?
no subject
[She's the mayor... and the Queen of the United Realms soon. She can do whatever - and whoever - she wants.]
It's hardly the weirdest thing they've ever seen. Or are going to see.
no subject
Don't think I'll seem a little too rough around the edges for all the prince and princess folk?
no subject
no subject
Fair point, your highness.
[ She eats for a while, and the food is good. The conversation and company is better. ]
Don't laugh at this question, but how do you keep breathing in a corset after you eat?
no subject
Lots of practice.
no subject
[ She eyes Regina, almost daring her to poof the whole damn thing. ]
no subject
Makes the corset just a little tighter. Above the table, all she does is smile.]
no subject
You know whatever you do now, you'll pay for it later.
[ A friendly threat because Michonne loves this, and Regina knows it, so really. She's fooling no one here. ]
no subject
I don't know what you're talking about.
no subject
[ In bed; don't worry, there are very specific ways to get even without using magic, Regina. ]
