Here we are as in olden days, happy golden days of yore | OPEN
Who: E V E R Y O N E (Including our 4th wall guests!)
Where: Everywhere, one both Mirror and Real Side!
When: December 12th - December 18th (WEEK ONE)
Rating: PG-13, warn if going higher
Summary: This year's Ewaymas celebration rolls out the way it usually does, with intense decorating, a sudden snowfall and...far more arrivals than usual! New faces and old fill the mansion - but why would Wonderland bring so many people at once? And why do some of them remember Wonderland?
The Story:

On the evening before December 12th, the captives of Wonderland might be awoken by a loud commotion. Some of it is typical Ewaymas noise, likely familiar to anyone who has been in Wonderland for more than a year – construction sounds and jingle bells as Wonderland decks its own halls quite literally. Garland and lights race down the walls and down the stairs, and stockings appear on the walls for each and every person in Wonderland, embroidered with their names. There are decorative candles everywhere, and all sorts of decorations for every conceivable winter holiday, even if it does not align perfectly to the dates of Ewaymas. Time isn't real, so there will be menorahs and dreidels and Star of Davids even though Hanukkah ended two days prior. And of course, in the front hall, growing straight out of the floor, is a large decorated tree full of ornaments for everyone. And as always, it will have snowed heavily overnight, bringing all of the snow Wonderland will have between now and spring.
There is a second source of commotion in the night though – the sound of a crowd.
Over the course of the night, dozens of new arrivals will appear in Wonderland. Some for the first time. Some wondering how they managed to return with their memories. Others stumbling in with no recollection of ever having been here. Some might be friends from other timelines, other possibilities, and some might even be doubles of people who are already in Wonderland. It's strange for Wonderland to drag so many people into the mansion at once, but everything seems to indicate that they are supposed to be there. They have their own network devices and even have their own stockings on the wall and their own ornaments on the tree – by all accounts, it seems Wonderland expects that they'll be staying, and is treating them like any other new arrivals. Please, make them feel at home and help them settle in nicely.
The first few days will be for catching up with old friends and enjoying the decorations and settling into Wonderland. However, within a couple of days the decorations will start to glitch, much the way corrupted computer graphics might. Lights might change abruptly from multi-color to blue or white, entire décor styles will abruptly change, candle flames will flicker on and off like broken fluorescent lights, and any singing decorations might loop on a beat or two over and over putting you into an eternal hell. Wonderland doesn't seem to be able to stick to one motif, and it can't stop changing. These glitches are occurring on both the Real Side of Wonderland and the Mirror Side.
By the 15th, these glitches will include entire rooms changing into different holiday scenes. These scenes will all be of characters at various winter holidays in the past, the present (in their world), or a possible future. At this point in the event, characters will still be able to navigate the basic mansion and be able to exit these moments easily. These scenes cannot be interacted with – Wonderland seems to consider them another form of decorating. Unlike previous events of this type, these scenes will not loop at first. They will play once, and then Wonderland will glitch and correct itself to be the room it is supposed to be. The scene might play again, but it will be in a different location if it does.
By this point, Wonderland is having an increasingly difficult time holding itself together in a way that makes geographical sense. You might exit one room, even a room that was not previously playing a scene, and find yourself in the kitchen or on the roof instead of in the hallway. You might open a door that you were sure led to your room only to see a ten foot drop to the grounds outside.
This is the mingle log for WEEK ONE! For more information on this part of the event or any questions, please head over to the plot post, or check out our Fourth Wall Master Post for your other Fourth Wall event needs! Prose or [action brackets] are welcome. Please clearly indicate whether your character is on the Real Side or Mirror Side in your top levels. And of course, have fun! ♥

[He offers a smile, look, see how harmless he is. Just a Regular Friendly Teen, it's all good.]
Sorry, there's only one Alice I know here, buuuut we have had a whole mess of new people lately. She could be here. What does she look like? How old? I can keep a look out for her.
no subject
Kara moves the gun, but only to tuck it away. Then she digs into one of the pockets of her jacket, pulling out an electronic passport card. A young girl's face is on it, along with all the other usual details. ]
This is her. [ She says that fondly, but here's also an undercurrent of sadness to it. They'd only been separated for a few moments, but already it felt too long. If she could feel pain, she imagines the yearning would physically hurt. ] I'm all she has right now.
[ Considering her surroundings and what he'd said, though? Alice probably had no one. That "hurts" the most. ]
And...thanks. I know you don't have to help.
[ Considering the number of humans she currently trusted could be counted on one hand, her saying that meant something. ]
no subject
Aww, cute kid. [Says the kid. There's sliding scales of kid-dom though, right right?] I don't recognise her, I'm sorry. But she could still be around.
[At that, he smiles. Because honestly, that could be very true in his world too- no one having to help anyone else. It's all too easy to just look after you and yours. It's not a doctrine Louis has ever subscribed to. People need people, even when those people are androids.]
It's no problem. I can help you look, if you like? I've been here a couple months now, I know the layout of the mansion pretty well.
just gonna get past the whole OMG WONDERLAND! spiel here 👍
[ After a moment, she nods. ] Yeah. Any help would be great.
[ A while later, after a fruitless search, Kara sinks down into a chair in the entrance hall. She'd been doing scans everywhere as they walked, trying to find any hint of Alice.
She's torn. Maybe it's for the best, considering what she's been told. But it's hard to imagine life without her, even in a place like this. ]
It's funny. [ She laughs, but it's weak. ] I'm not sure if this is better or worse than Detroit right now.
works for me \o
He is genuinely sad they couldn't find Alice- her Alice. It was a logn shot, but still, it was shot.]
Never seen it, myself. Never really spent any time in big cities. But Wonderland does have its 'wow this is insane bullshit' thing going for it. So there's that.
no subject
It'd be a learning experience? ]
I think you'd be okay with not seeing it how it was when I left it.
[ There's a slight hesitation, then she asks: ] Have you been okay here by yourself?
no subject
Oh, I'm okay. My girlfriend from home is here, too- and another person from my world, though I don't know her from home.
[A beat.]
Unless you don't mean 'by myself from home and mean 'by myself sans-adult', which I've been doing since I was like, nine, so I've been very okay. Pretty regular, really.
no subject
He's human. They've felt like the enemy for so long already. Yet she can't stand the idea of someone so young having to go through that.
Hesitantly, she reaches out to touch his shoulder. ]
Are you sure you're okay?
no subject
Yeah, I'm fine. It's not like I'm not used to it or anything.
[He learned very early on that adults weren't to be counted on for anything. He offers a smile, unwilling to let it bum him out, but also wanting Kara to know it really was fine.]
I'm still here, right? Gotta count for something.
no subject
Her hand grips him tighter. She's really tempted to hug him. ]
You shouldn't ever have to get used to that.
[ It's said more fervently than she'd intended to, but...he's reminding her of Alice and what she'd had to go through. ]
It's not right.
no subject
And yet, it's how it is. I mean sure it's pretty awful, but I think it could probably be worse. Like. Probably.
no subject
Kara shakes her head, her lips puckered up in a frown. Then, yep, hugging is happening. She can't help it. The cognitive dissonance is through the roof, for sure, but a kid in need, no matter how human, can't be ignored. ]
You deserve better. No matter what you think.
no subject
[There's hugging suddenly happening and Louis has no idea how to process that. He's a tactile person, he's fine with hugging his friends, but adults? Well, they're usually a different story altogether.
He hesitates, before awkwardly patting her back, extracting himself carefully from her. He does, at least offer an apologetic smile for the awkwardness. She reminds him of Ms. Martin- genuinely caring. He might not be quite there yet, but he appreciates the words all the same. Louis will remember that.]
Heh. Well, if you ever feel like writing a strongly worded letter to my universe about that, I won't stop you.
no subject
She watches him for a while, taking note that he doesn't seem the type to want physical affection. She'd give it only when he wanted it. For now, she decides to go with a different approach.
She smiles back, seemingly fine with the awkwardness. ]
Sorry if I made you uncomfortable. [ Her smile widens. ] You write a letter to mine and we'll consider it even.
Just...if you ever need anything, let me know. Even if I'm not here for long.
[ It was strange, offering to help a human. But at least, this time, it was her own choice. ]
no subject
[He's usually the one offering help, at least for the emotional side of things. It's...weird having it being offered to him. Usually that's where Clem falls. Sometimes Violet. Everyone else tended to assume he was doing just fine- which was exactly what he wanted them to think.]
...Thanks. I'll remember that. Appreciate it?
no subject
You're welcome. And thanks for trying to help. [ She looks away to hide the worry on her face. ] Even if we didn't find her.
[ She'd hoped to find Luther too, but...being without Alice hurt the most. ]
no subject
Don't mention it. I'm just sorry you couldn't find her. I know it's hard to be without the people who matter a lot here.
[He'd give anything to have his group here. They're his family, and they deserve this relatively pleasant break from all the horror they're living in. He's been with them for years at this point, and their absence in his life now is very much felt.]
no subject
[ She shuts her eyes. It was true. Being without them was very, very hard. They'd come together so quickly, became important to each other so fast. It was like a vital biocomponent had been stripped away from her, lost forever.
Kara stands. After giving a quick glance around at their surroundings, she looks back at Louis. ]
I think I'm going to try settling in for now. As much as I can, anyway.
no subject
Good idea. Look, if you need anything, just give me a holler on the network, okay?
no subject
For a moment, she considers reaching out and lightly squeezing his shoulder, a gesture of thanks and reassurance. She doesn't, though. Their connection, tenuous as it was, was one she didn't want to ruin with her strong desire to parent. ]
Thanks. I'll do that. Same to you, once I get everything figured out.
[ Before walking off, she hesitates. ]
Try to get near a fire soon, okay? You still seem a little cold.
[ She's been paying a lot of extra attention to her temperature sensors lately, no big deal!
After a small wave, she leaves. ]
