Here we are as in olden days, happy golden days of yore | OPEN

Who: E V E R Y O N E (Including our 4th wall guests!)
Where: Everywhere, one both Mirror and Real Side!
When: December 12th - December 18th (WEEK ONE)
Rating: PG-13, warn if going higher
Summary: This year's Ewaymas celebration rolls out the way it usually does, with intense decorating, a sudden snowfall and...far more arrivals than usual! New faces and old fill the mansion - but why would Wonderland bring so many people at once? And why do some of them remember Wonderland?
The Story:

On the evening before December 12th, the captives of Wonderland might be awoken by a loud commotion. Some of it is typical Ewaymas noise, likely familiar to anyone who has been in Wonderland for more than a year – construction sounds and jingle bells as Wonderland decks its own halls quite literally. Garland and lights race down the walls and down the stairs, and stockings appear on the walls for each and every person in Wonderland, embroidered with their names. There are decorative candles everywhere, and all sorts of decorations for every conceivable winter holiday, even if it does not align perfectly to the dates of Ewaymas. Time isn't real, so there will be menorahs and dreidels and Star of Davids even though Hanukkah ended two days prior. And of course, in the front hall, growing straight out of the floor, is a large decorated tree full of ornaments for everyone. And as always, it will have snowed heavily overnight, bringing all of the snow Wonderland will have between now and spring.

There is a second source of commotion in the night though – the sound of a crowd.

Over the course of the night, dozens of new arrivals will appear in Wonderland. Some for the first time. Some wondering how they managed to return with their memories. Others stumbling in with no recollection of ever having been here. Some might be friends from other timelines, other possibilities, and some might even be doubles of people who are already in Wonderland. It's strange for Wonderland to drag so many people into the mansion at once, but everything seems to indicate that they are supposed to be there. They have their own network devices and even have their own stockings on the wall and their own ornaments on the tree – by all accounts, it seems Wonderland expects that they'll be staying, and is treating them like any other new arrivals. Please, make them feel at home and help them settle in nicely.

The first few days will be for catching up with old friends and enjoying the decorations and settling into Wonderland. However, within a couple of days the decorations will start to glitch, much the way corrupted computer graphics might. Lights might change abruptly from multi-color to blue or white, entire décor styles will abruptly change, candle flames will flicker on and off like broken fluorescent lights, and any singing decorations might loop on a beat or two over and over putting you into an eternal hell. Wonderland doesn't seem to be able to stick to one motif, and it can't stop changing. These glitches are occurring on both the Real Side of Wonderland and the Mirror Side.

By the 15th, these glitches will include entire rooms changing into different holiday scenes. These scenes will all be of characters at various winter holidays in the past, the present (in their world), or a possible future. At this point in the event, characters will still be able to navigate the basic mansion and be able to exit these moments easily. These scenes cannot be interacted with – Wonderland seems to consider them another form of decorating. Unlike previous events of this type, these scenes will not loop at first. They will play once, and then Wonderland will glitch and correct itself to be the room it is supposed to be. The scene might play again, but it will be in a different location if it does.

By this point, Wonderland is having an increasingly difficult time holding itself together in a way that makes geographical sense. You might exit one room, even a room that was not previously playing a scene, and find yourself in the kitchen or on the roof instead of in the hallway. You might open a door that you were sure led to your room only to see a ten foot drop to the grounds outside.

This is the mingle log for WEEK ONE! For more information on this part of the event or any questions, please head over to the plot post, or check out our Fourth Wall Master Post for your other Fourth Wall event needs! Prose or [action brackets] are welcome. Please clearly indicate whether your character is on the Real Side or Mirror Side in your top levels. And of course, have fun! ♥

[From behind them, Ford's voice calls out:]

Dipper! Mabel! There you are!

[Which is weird, since Ford is in front of them? Maybe in the future, he's learned to throw his voice.]

[Stan, who has never once had trouble throwing his voice in his entire life, is also behind them.]

We've been lookin' everywhere for you little gremlins! Guess we should've started here though -- pretty sure I'm seeing double, and not just 'cause we're all twins.

We're quadruplets. [Mabel looks between the scene playing out before them and then back to her grunkles.] I've had this dream before...

[Wait. Wait.... Wait. Something clicks in her mind, and her brown eyes go wide with manic glee.] GRUNKLE FORD?!

[Prepare to be assaulted by the MABEL AFFECTION TORPEDO!] You're here!

[Dipper takes a moment longer to catch on, but when Mabel shouts his name, he turns and torpedoes himself at Ford just as aggressively.]

Grunkle Ford!! Oh man, we've missed you so much!
mothmansplaining: (it's not that weird a question)

[oh no, two grandniblings, launching themselves at him at top speed, what is he going to do?

Luckily, he has two arms, the perfect number for catching them and hoisting them up in the air for a BIG HUG. Which he does, with a laugh of joy -- even if it's a little sad that they haven't seen him in so long, from their perspective. A little wistfully:
]

Ha ha! I missed you, too.

[There's business they need to discuss relating to dimensions and the relative passage of time and holes in the universe, but Ford's caught sight of the scene in the door, and maybe science can wait a minute or two. He puts the kids back down.]

What's this you've found?

[Stan lets Ford and the kids have their hug without immediately jumping in on it - it's been a while since they've seen him, so he can hoist them up and make up for lost time there. It leaves him only half-paying attention to their reunion and half-watching what's going on in the scene.

But then he does a double-take at the bundle in Melody's arms.
]

What?! When did Soos have a baby?!

[Mabel gives Ford's head an affectionate pat as she decides the cuddling is sufficient for now. Yes. Just as soft as she remembers. Excellent. She seems to have already taken in the sights and feelings of the scene that she barely even has to look over her shoulder to see what Stan means. Everything is great, suddenly, and nothing bad has happened or will happen. Ford's here and they're spying on a vision of Hanukkah Future, because that's how she's choosing to define it.] I dunno, but doesn't he make a great father? Look at him! He's glowing.

Presumably it's the future. Or a possible future. Since I definitely don't remember it happening in the past.

["All right, hand over the Mystery Baby already," the Stan says in the vision.

Soos smiles and takes the baby from Melody. "Stan? Meet Stan. Stan, this is Stan. Not to be confused with Stanford, who is that guy." He very seriously points at Ford, then hands the baby to Stan.

"She's a baby, sweetie," Melody says. "Don't start confusing her just yet."]

I'd say it's far from impossible.

[It really is a heartwarming scene. Even with all of the important things Ford has to discuss with his family, he can't help stopping to watch for a little while. Besides, Dipper and Mabel are enjoying watching it, and he doesn't need to tear them away from it right this second.

He used to feel that way, but sometimes, being happy for a little while is important, too.

charlastan: Iscariot - Walk the Moon (Oh you know you had it coming)

[personal profile] charlastan 2019-02-17 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Dipper and Mabel aren't the only ones enjoying it. Stan is only half-listening to everyone else now, because he's too caught up in watching this possible future where he's holding Soos' baby, who is apparently named after him.

The vision of Stan immediately takes the baby into his arms, and all the impatience from a moment ago melts away.

"Hey there, Pumpkin," he says. "That's a real good name y'got there. Heard they only give it to real tough kids."

The real Stan, who wasn't quite expecting to be punched this hard in the emotions, is definitely trying his hardest not to let everyone know he's crying a little.

[personal profile] powerofmabel 2019-02-18 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Mabel Sees All, Stanley, but it's okay, because she also just teared up a bit.]

He named her after Stan. That's so sweet. [She grips her sweater, and whispers reverently:] The Stan Legacy is forever.
krmvgivv: (unlike this guy)

[personal profile] krmvgivv 2019-02-23 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
But Stan's a...

[Dipper trails off because he can see Stan's face and believe it or not, he does have at least one tactful bone in his body.]

...great name! She's pretty adorable.
mothmansplaining: (it's not that weird a question)

[personal profile] mothmansplaining 2019-02-23 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ford makes eye contact with Dipper, shrugs his shoulders and gives a nod. Good call, kid.

He puts a comforting and bracing hand on Stan's shoulder, and decides it's probably time to bring everyone's attention away from this idyllic future and into their rather more concerning present. His tone is patient, not unkind -- he isn't lighting his face on fire for attention, for instance.
]

Listen, kids -- there's something very important I need to speak with you about.
charlastan: Happier - Guster ((And you're lost and long gone))

[personal profile] charlastan 2019-02-24 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
[That's the point where Stan remembers that oh, right, other people are there, and he wipes at his face and sniffles loudly.]

I-I'm not cryin'! A bug flew in my eye, that's all! None of you saw anything!

[With that completely believable and plausible story out in the open and all the tears out of his face, he's going to force himself to be over it. They did have other reasons for coming here beyond crying over Soos' future child.]

Yeah, we've been looking for you kids all over.
powerofmabel: (☆ would never be the same)

[personal profile] powerofmabel 2019-02-26 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[Mabel pats Stan on the arm. It's okay, Stan. She saw everything. And she will remember this.]

What's up, Grunks? ...Y'know, aside from Ford being here- which is amazing- and Wonderland being broken.
krmvgivv: (js)

[personal profile] krmvgivv 2019-03-01 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's pretty big news already.

[But Dipper looks interested too. Whatever Ford thinks is important is bound to be at least interesting.]
