Here we are as in olden days, happy golden days of yore | OPEN

Who: E V E R Y O N E (Including our 4th wall guests!)
Where: Everywhere, one both Mirror and Real Side!
When: December 12th - December 18th (WEEK ONE)
Rating: PG-13, warn if going higher
Summary: This year's Ewaymas celebration rolls out the way it usually does, with intense decorating, a sudden snowfall and...far more arrivals than usual! New faces and old fill the mansion - but why would Wonderland bring so many people at once? And why do some of them remember Wonderland?
The Story:

On the evening before December 12th, the captives of Wonderland might be awoken by a loud commotion. Some of it is typical Ewaymas noise, likely familiar to anyone who has been in Wonderland for more than a year – construction sounds and jingle bells as Wonderland decks its own halls quite literally. Garland and lights race down the walls and down the stairs, and stockings appear on the walls for each and every person in Wonderland, embroidered with their names. There are decorative candles everywhere, and all sorts of decorations for every conceivable winter holiday, even if it does not align perfectly to the dates of Ewaymas. Time isn't real, so there will be menorahs and dreidels and Star of Davids even though Hanukkah ended two days prior. And of course, in the front hall, growing straight out of the floor, is a large decorated tree full of ornaments for everyone. And as always, it will have snowed heavily overnight, bringing all of the snow Wonderland will have between now and spring.

There is a second source of commotion in the night though – the sound of a crowd.

Over the course of the night, dozens of new arrivals will appear in Wonderland. Some for the first time. Some wondering how they managed to return with their memories. Others stumbling in with no recollection of ever having been here. Some might be friends from other timelines, other possibilities, and some might even be doubles of people who are already in Wonderland. It's strange for Wonderland to drag so many people into the mansion at once, but everything seems to indicate that they are supposed to be there. They have their own network devices and even have their own stockings on the wall and their own ornaments on the tree – by all accounts, it seems Wonderland expects that they'll be staying, and is treating them like any other new arrivals. Please, make them feel at home and help them settle in nicely.

The first few days will be for catching up with old friends and enjoying the decorations and settling into Wonderland. However, within a couple of days the decorations will start to glitch, much the way corrupted computer graphics might. Lights might change abruptly from multi-color to blue or white, entire décor styles will abruptly change, candle flames will flicker on and off like broken fluorescent lights, and any singing decorations might loop on a beat or two over and over putting you into an eternal hell. Wonderland doesn't seem to be able to stick to one motif, and it can't stop changing. These glitches are occurring on both the Real Side of Wonderland and the Mirror Side.

By the 15th, these glitches will include entire rooms changing into different holiday scenes. These scenes will all be of characters at various winter holidays in the past, the present (in their world), or a possible future. At this point in the event, characters will still be able to navigate the basic mansion and be able to exit these moments easily. These scenes cannot be interacted with – Wonderland seems to consider them another form of decorating. Unlike previous events of this type, these scenes will not loop at first. They will play once, and then Wonderland will glitch and correct itself to be the room it is supposed to be. The scene might play again, but it will be in a different location if it does.

By this point, Wonderland is having an increasingly difficult time holding itself together in a way that makes geographical sense. You might exit one room, even a room that was not previously playing a scene, and find yourself in the kitchen or on the roof instead of in the hallway. You might open a door that you were sure led to your room only to see a ten foot drop to the grounds outside.

This is the mingle log for WEEK ONE! For more information on this part of the event or any questions, please head over to the plot post, or check out our Fourth Wall Master Post for your other Fourth Wall event needs! Prose or [action brackets] are welcome. Please clearly indicate whether your character is on the Real Side or Mirror Side in your top levels. And of course, have fun! ♥

.....

[It's strange, because while Ishimaru was fully expecting that answer, it doesn't stop his insides from twisting painfully. His face falls slightly and he looks stricken for a moment, but he's not going to take back what he said. He can't do that now.]

I know, but I'm not going to lie and say that you aren't my friend, even though you plan on ruining the world and hurting our classmates. [If that is moral or immoral... well, it's probably not completely right, but he can't stop the way he feels either. What matters is that he makes the right choice in the end... and that is stopping her no matter what.]

Just know that you'll be stopped, even if I end up dying. [Not that he feels he's living on borrowed time, but Ishimaru can acknowledge that Naegi and the others will also make it through without him.]

Well, you do have five chances for that here, so I'd say the odds are pretty good.

[She's pretty sure she could devise an impossible to foil plan that would make him waste all those chances, but that's no fun.]

But while I'm here? I don't really have any plans on ruining the world or anything like that. I guess I could jump the gun and do things early, but I don't really feel like skipping ahead.

[She's not really interested in doing something like that right now. In the future maybe, but right now? Nah.

...though the idea of putting a certain amnesiac in a scenario like that is appealing. She'll keep that in mind.]

So you don't have too much to worry about there.

[He wants to think that Enoshima-kun doesn't have the right resources here to ruin the world anyway, but that would be deeply underestimating her abilities. If there's one thing he can say about her, she definitely puts effort into something if it's for despair in the end.

Nonetheless, Ishimaru's expression changes into something that's slightly more relaxed, his eyebrows becoming less scrunched as he looks at his former classmate.]

You know that's impossible for me, Enoshima-kun. I always worry about something.
testcase: (is all you ever had)

[personal profile] testcase 2019-01-14 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Of course, you wouldn't be you if you didn't.

[There's such a friendly warm tone in her voice. And why shouldn't there be? They're friends! Sure, she's a terrible person who's only going to become more terrible and put their class through the most hope crushing despair inducing situation imaginable, but they're still friends! So why shouldn't she be friendly to her friends?

The other shoe'll drop in...oh right about now, actually.]

But hey, since I haven't done anything yet, and for all we know I might not do anything, there's no need to tell everyone and create problems that might not even apply to me, right?

[Yet is definitely the big word here. Sure, she might not have done anything, but there's always that chance she will. But outing her immediately might not be a good idea anyway, maybe she'll just take that as a cue to start some sort of killing game or a terrible despairing incident here.

So Ishimaru folds his arms and narrows his eyes at her, but he seems to be in agreement.]

If you don't give me a reason to out you, then I won't. [points at eyes, points at Junko!!]
testcase: (you pretend you're high)

[personal profile] testcase 2019-01-18 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
[She just smiles in response, really what else can she do there?]

I'd say I'll be on my best behavior, but there's no reason to believe that. So instead, I'll just say I won't give you a reason.

[She really isn't planing on doing that today. Maybe someday, but not anytime soon.]
boldsimplicity: (Raise your hand if you murdered someone)

[personal profile] boldsimplicity 2019-01-20 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
[He mostly expected that sort of response. Junko wouldn't be Junko otherwise...

Nonetheless, Ishimaru looks far from defeated despite the wariness and almost tired look in his eyes. He definitely has a job to do now, not just as a classmate and a Future Foundation member, but as a friend. And part of being a friend is keeping your friends in line!!]

I see... you're always trying to keep me on my toes! But be aware that I know when you start doing something really sketchy!

[...Actually, he's always been kinda slow catching her on that, but he's determined to pick on her 'cues' before anything goes bad here!]
testcase: (pretend you're anything)

[personal profile] testcase 2019-01-20 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[She'll laugh a little, some part of her still despairing over this surreal conversation. And another part of her mind despairing and wondering exactly how aware he'd be and despairing over all the new ideas popping into her head of ways to potentially deceive him. But instead of bringing up any of this, she'll just laugh a little instead.]

Aren't I always doing something sketchy though?

[That's meant as a joke, even if it's not really that funny.]

Not always.

[Ishimaru doesn't see it as a joke, although most jokes still tend to fly over his head...]

Erm, well, I don't think you're always doing something with ill intent. [It's just... she often uses that event to fuel her desire for despair later on. Like he doesn't think Enoshima-kun was doing anything sketchy when they celebrated her birthday all those years ago.

It just kinda helped reinforce her dedication to the killing game they eventually became a part of...]
testcase: (don't believe in fear)

[personal profile] testcase 2019-01-24 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, maybe not always. But a lot of the time, sure. I can't really turn my brain off, y'know? And it's always thinking of something super despair inducing.

[But not always something with malice behind it. Things can be super despair inducing without being all death and destruction all the time. But then again, that's a great way to get those feelings, so sometimes that's what works.]
