Summary: It's Wirt's 17th birthday! Dipper and Mabel are in charge of planning, and Wirt doesn't want anything too big or crazy. So you know. Time for an open mic party.
The Story:

Invitations spread quietly by word of mouth. "Surprise Party. Come to the fourth floor tea room. Bring something to perform. Don't tell Wirt!" Dipper and Mabel make sure to tell the people they know are Wirt's friends, but they also expect word to get around. Others can hear about it or just come in. Wirt doesn't want a big party, but they're guessing the particulars of this party will keep it small.

By the time people start to arrive, the tea room's been transformed. It looks like the most cliche hipster cafe you can imagine, like a preteen girl's imagination made flesh. There are mismatched chairs and low windows and exposed brick, and a stage that looks more like a wooden platform than anything else. There's a coffee bar with tea and hot chocolate and lots of cookies and snacks piled high, plus a cake. There aren't any baristas here. Just a sign that reads Cafe Music and Wirts.

Price of admission is agreeing to perform something, though the birthday boy is excused from this unless he wants to go. It's supposed to be fun for him, after all.

[Wirt's whole face had gone pink in the audience when Steven was performing. No one's ever written a song about him before and he doesn't know how much of that is even remotely true (aside from, you know, the objectively true birthday parts) but it's sweet of him anyway. He makes sure to go find Steven once he's done performing.]

I can't believe you wrote a whole song about me...that was nice of you. Thank you.

[He's still a little flustered, but he's trying his best.]

[Sorry, Wirt... he might be somewhat less embarrassing now that the song is over at least. He greets Wirt with an enthusiastic smile while setting down his ukulele.]

You're welcome! I just wanted to make something special, and I know you like music. I'm really glad you appreciate it, Wirt. Happy birthday!! [He says, raising his arms in a cheer!]

Thanks. You really put a lot of thought into it, and it means a lot. Plus you're a good musician.

[He pauses, unsure if he wants to admit something or not since he's pretty sure it's a coincidence anyway and maybe it's weird to bring up at all, but...he decides to say it anyway, since it was something that made him happy about the song.]

Also that's-- m-my name actually means that, by the way. It means "worthy" in like, old Anglo-Saxon.

Aw, shucks! Thanks, Wirt. [But then he blinks in surprise as Wirt drops that factoid, even if he's not sure what Anglo-Saxon is.]

Wow, for real? That's so cool! I didn't even know that... that adds a whole new level of wordplay!

Thanks. It...feels like a lot to live up to, sometimes? That's probably weird to say, huh. No one thinks about names this hard...

[He's just overthinking it, because he overthinks everything and because he's a writer. It's hard not to overthink things like why his parents would pick a particular name.]

It really does add something special to the song though. I know it wasn't on purpose, but it was still really cool.

Y'know, I think it might mean the opposite. If you were born with a name meaning "worthy", then I'd think that means you're worthy from the start! ...Anyway, I'm really glad you liked the song! I had a lot of fun putting it together. I should do this kinda thing more often!
