+ Chalk it to me! - Mingle Log +
Who: EVERYONE!
Where: Anywhere outside on Real Side, but mostly in the gardens!
When: 3/14-3/20
Rating: PG, warn if going higher than PG-13
Summary: Alice has invited everyone, Reals and Mirrors alike, to come color outside in the nice spring weather with magic chalk. Surely nothing could go wrong with that plan, right?
The Story:
Outside, the weather is absolutely beautiful. It's not too hot, but not too cold either, and no one would have ever realized there was snow on the ground yesterday if they hadn't been here to see it. The grass is green and everything is dry - no sign of melted snow anywhere at all. Flowers have begun to bloom and it truly looks as though it's been spring for some time already. The season has changed abruptly and now Wonderland's decided it's time for it to be nice out.
There are many paths through the gardens, the vendors, and the hedge maze that can be drawn on, but as Alice demonstrated in her post, there's no need at all to stick to pavement only. Even the air can be decorated with living drawings!
This is a log for people who want to come color outside or people who want to check out what others are doing out here. It isn't strictly to interact with Alice, but she'll be around and will have a top level.

When he finds the source of the frogs his heart twists in his chest. Oh. Very suddenly, very horribly, the frogs make sense. And as such, a part of Misty's Mirror does too. He walks over, slowly, carefully. He doesn't interact with a lot of Mirrors (hell, he can bearly cope with real people, let alone their made-up versions) but he'll always try for just about any version of Misty.
"Hey. Lotta frogs."

Maybe eventually they would wash away but until then, she would enjoy them.
"Never knew I could draw them," she admits. "But they're on my mind a lot," she adds, not having the rest of Wonderland to distract her from her thoughts, or her Real. Which is why, when she glances up, her eyes widen.
"Oh. Oh. Uhmm... I've seen you," she says, nodding as she brushes her hair back behind her ear. "I mean, you're... You're why she sings," she says, nodding even more, a bit like a bobble head to a degree. "Well, we would sing anyway," she adds, chuckling. "But it's different."
no subject
"I think it's a Wonderland thing- probably magic chalk, or some shit."
His eyebrows raise at her description of him. He's...not really used to the idea of being that for anyone. It's comforting. To know he brings that much happiness to Misty's life. She means the goddamn world to him, and if he can make her half as happy as she makes him...well, he guess that's gotta count for something. He laughs, awkward, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Yeah? Well. She needs more reasons to sing. Guess you all do, on that count."
no subject
Not that there isn't much they can't get from the closet, after all, but she hasn't had access to them like the Reals have, so the idea of being able to draw up just about anything a person wants is frightening to her. Not that much things aren't kind of frightening to her. At least on this side.
"I sing here. Sometimes. I don't think to sing in the house," she admits. "Miss Robichaux's. I know they say the Axe Man is gone but if he's not, I'm not luring him with music," she says, shaking his head so her curls whip about her face. "Misty, the one from this side Misty? She wasn't there long enough to learn about the house, to learn the truth about what happens in that house. Some houses are like that though, you know? They don't let you go."
no subject
It's a relatively easy way to deal with a problem for once, and he's glad of it. Less chance of someone he cares about getting themselves killed. He listens to what Misty's Mirror has to say, brow furrowed. A lot of it doesn't make much sense, but it's still...troubling to hear.
"Yeah...I guess so. So...what, you got stuck in the house as...a ghost or something?"
no subject
She nods at that. "You die there, you stay. Even if you go to Hell," she says, which she's not sure how. She's not even sure it's real or just this place telling her it's real but it's what she knows. "I didn't mind. The others were there, and it I'm sure everything will be okay." Except she only remembers a moment before she was here. A brief breath, really.

He tends to avoid most of everything in Wonderland. He has his own people and he keeps them close. Anything on the outskirts- unless it threatens those close to him- tends to be brushed to the wayside.
"So you...weren't completely alone?" that's comforting, that there's a Misty somewhere who isn't alone, living in her own personal hell over and over and over again - still dead, but allowed to have a different sort of life.
no subject
"Don't tell her that, okay? Madison's a horrible girl, don't get me wrong. She killed us that once, after all, but I don't think Misty would handle that well."
no subject
"She got murdered?" he's not sure if he should feel sorry for her or mad he lost his chance to do it himself. "...No. I guess she wouldn't. Misty's fuckin' decent like that. Uh- you are that decent?"
How do Mirrors even work, who knows.
no subject
That gets a small smile and a shrug. "More than some I know," she admits, sighing. "I know it's the whole other side of people, and so the mirror people can be bad? But I'm just kind of... I don't have to worry about who knows what I am and what I can do. I like that part, so I just try and stay out of the bad parts of living there. Kind of nice being over here for a day or two though."
no subject
He asks the question and instantly regrets it. No. No he doesn't actually want to know the answer to that. "...Forget I asked that."
He listens, pays attention to what she has to say. He only knows vague stories about the real world behind the looking glass. Ironically, if he knew more, he'd learn that's where his mother now resides. Or rather...the echo of her. Because that's what the Mirrors were, in the Wonderland he knew. Echoes. Reflections of beings that may not necessarily exist in the living world any more.
"Sounds like a good idea, honestly. Keep the fuck away from the psychopaths and just live...or not best as you fuckin' can."
no subject
Not that it's all that different here. They're basically reflections of how their Reals could be, the lives they could be living. The right turn to their left.
She laughs at that, tucking a curl back behind her ear. "Thank you for that. Appreciate it. Do you have one? Over there? I mean, I know some try and communicate. I don't think my Real knows I'm there."
no subject
"Yeah, I got one. He's fuckin' smiling all the time. Don't trust him as far as I can throw him."
Because it's not a real smile. He knows that much. It's the horrible, fakey shitty smile he used to have when he was stalking prey in the old days. Except this version of him tries to pretend that he's not a monster.
"I don't like him all that much."
no subject
It's better than the risks that she could be taking.
"I'll try and be careful when they make us go back," she says, knowing it's coming sooner than later. "It's a shame. It's been nice over here. Everyone is so much nicer."
no subject
"Yeah, guess it is. But this place has got a lotta bullshit too. Events, shit like that."

He offers a fleeting smile of his own. She was okay- Misty but not Misty. It was a weird concept to get his head around, but she'd given him no reason to be anything but friendly to her. His own stand-offish brand of friendly anyway.
"Yeah, sure. Uh...enjoy this side while you can, I guess."
