+ Chalk it to me! - Mingle Log +
Who: EVERYONE!
Where: Anywhere outside on Real Side, but mostly in the gardens!
When: 3/14-3/20
Rating: PG, warn if going higher than PG-13
Summary: Alice has invited everyone, Reals and Mirrors alike, to come color outside in the nice spring weather with magic chalk. Surely nothing could go wrong with that plan, right?
The Story:
Outside, the weather is absolutely beautiful. It's not too hot, but not too cold either, and no one would have ever realized there was snow on the ground yesterday if they hadn't been here to see it. The grass is green and everything is dry - no sign of melted snow anywhere at all. Flowers have begun to bloom and it truly looks as though it's been spring for some time already. The season has changed abruptly and now Wonderland's decided it's time for it to be nice out.
There are many paths through the gardens, the vendors, and the hedge maze that can be drawn on, but as Alice demonstrated in her post, there's no need at all to stick to pavement only. Even the air can be decorated with living drawings!
This is a log for people who want to come color outside or people who want to check out what others are doing out here. It isn't strictly to interact with Alice, but she'll be around and will have a top level.

[He grins, giving a little bow.]
On that, my friend, I leave to you. You know this place best, right? I'll follow you wherever you want to take me.
no subject
You're right! I have to take my duty as a tour guide seriously. So we'll start aaaat... THE BIG DONUT!
[He wastes no time starting to lead Louis down the chalky streets! And the various citizens are quick to happily wave to them as they pass!]
no subject
[He'll follow behind, waving too, because hey, he'll be friendly towards the chalk people.]
So, is it an actual big donut orrrrr?
no subject
There is a big donut on the top of the store! But it's not the kind you can eat. [He points it out as they approach.] Still, there's enough small donuts in there to make up for it!
no subject
Well, that sure is a big donut. And okay, it's not edible, but it's still cool, and it gets the message across. [He moves a hand through the air, as if reading a title.] 'Here Be Donuts.'

[He smiles, despite the unintelligible babble, giving the traditional older teen greeting to another older teen with a lazy wave.]
'Sup, donut gal. She a friend of yours, Steve-O?
no subject
no subject
[That last one gets an arched eyebrow.]
Complicated, huh? Complicated how? I do love me some juicy details. What makes her relationship so complicated with him-slash-her-slash-them?
no subject
And then he whistles awkwardly as he questions the relationship.]
Ohhh, it's a long story! So Lars is this guy who also worked here? He could be kind of a jerk, but he has a heart of gold too, and he really cares about Sadie! But... he's really bad at showing it and a lot of times he ends up being mean or lazy instead. Lars has done a lot of growing up since then! ...Buuut it also involved him going to space, dying and coming back to life, and now leading a spaceship across the universe on his way back to Earth.
[A beat.]
So I guess there's a few bumps in the road.
no subject
[He listens to Steven's story- as with most of Steven's stories, he gets it...up to a certain point. And then it goes all crazy towards the end and he's reminded that Steven comes from a world that might just be more batshit than his own. ]
That's... yeah, yeah, I'd say those were some bumpy ol' bumps right there. Uh- just to check- because that means a very specific thing where I come from... when you say he died and came back to life? Was it like...life-life? Or 'he's coming back to earth to eat y'all' life?
no subject
Oh, you mean like... [A wary whisper:] A zombie? Um, it wasn't like that! It was mostly life-life. Now he's just also pink and magical and I'm not sure if he really need to eat anymore?
no subject
Yeah. Like a zombie.
[The word will always feel weird to say.]
Welll, that doesn't sound like a walker at all. There's a distinct lack of pink, but they would be easier to see if they were. Instead of just like...grey and blending in with the woods. Regardless, he sounds like a legit not-zombie coming back, so good for him?
no subject
Yeah! Definitely good. [He doesn't know what he'd do if he didn't successfully come back.] Now I just have to find a way to get him back to Earth next time I'm home.
[Sadie seems oblivious to what they're talking about and just offers them a plate of chalky doughnuts.]
no subject
Well! If anyone can figure that out, I'd bet my last penny on it being you, Steve-O.
[He grins, giving Steven a little nudge with his elbow.]
I got faith in you, Lil' Buddy. [Oh, and now there are doughnuts.] ...Wow they look...scrummy?
no subject
He giggles at the elbow tap and then turns his attention to the doughnuts being offered.]
But how do they taste? That's the important part. ...Can we eat these?
[Chalk Sadie smiles innocently while in a fixed position of holding out the tray for them.]
no subject
[It looks god-awful, but he can't let down Chalk Sadie so he picks one up, grimacing.]
Hoooo boy I know I'm gonna regret this one.
[And then he takes a bite out of the chalk doughnut, because of course he does. He instantly makes a 'yak' sound, but battles it down anyway- smiling at Chalk Sadie and offering a thumbs up.]
Hmmmmm. That's good eating. [As an aside to Steven.] Oh god please can we leave?
no subject
Mmm, looks good! I'll have to take one for the road. [He says as he grabs one doughnut for himself. Because he can't let Louis suffer alone!] Cause, y'know, it's me Steven! I've... got stuff to attend to. And- and things!
no subject
Yeah! He's got important gem-saving-the-world stuff to do. You know how it is, busy busy. A Steven's work is never done.
[He'll turn to the door with a dramatic sweep. WORD TO SAVE YOU KNOW.]
C'mon, Steve-O, we can't just eat delicious doughnuts all day long.
no subject
[Then shoves the doughnut in his mouth and forces himself to chew it as he runs outside. He proceeds to cough up chalk.]
...D-definitely a unique flavor!
no subject
It's still not the worst thing I've ever eaten, but it's for sure in the top five. But at least she tried.
no subject
Hmmm, where should we go next? ...Something tells me we should skip the other food places, as much as I miss Fish Stew Pizza and the fry place.. hey, wanna meet my dad?
no subject
[After the chalk doughnuts, he's passing HARD on that, he'll aim for family instead. Probably safer. ]
Sure! I'd love to meet your dad.
no subject
Great! Then here we go! [Steven runs ahead as he makes his way towards the local car wash!]
no subject
[God, he hopes he isn't opening himself to eating fish stew pizza any time soon. Ew. He follows Steven to the car wash, smiling a little. ]
So. You close to your dad?
