+ Chalk it to me! - Mingle Log +
Who: EVERYONE!
Where: Anywhere outside on Real Side, but mostly in the gardens!
When: 3/14-3/20
Rating: PG, warn if going higher than PG-13
Summary: Alice has invited everyone, Reals and Mirrors alike, to come color outside in the nice spring weather with magic chalk. Surely nothing could go wrong with that plan, right?
The Story:
Outside, the weather is absolutely beautiful. It's not too hot, but not too cold either, and no one would have ever realized there was snow on the ground yesterday if they hadn't been here to see it. The grass is green and everything is dry - no sign of melted snow anywhere at all. Flowers have begun to bloom and it truly looks as though it's been spring for some time already. The season has changed abruptly and now Wonderland's decided it's time for it to be nice out.
There are many paths through the gardens, the vendors, and the hedge maze that can be drawn on, but as Alice demonstrated in her post, there's no need at all to stick to pavement only. Even the air can be decorated with living drawings!
This is a log for people who want to come color outside or people who want to check out what others are doing out here. It isn't strictly to interact with Alice, but she'll be around and will have a top level.

"Yeah? That's absolutely adorable."
She's adorable. He watches her with
hearteyesthat besotted smile of his - just enjoying seeing her happy. If he can make her smile a couple of times a day, he considers everything else absolutely worth it."Oh uh-" he was taken off guard, he clears his throat, trying to regain some cool (it's gone, it went years ago, it's a futile task). "I dunno. I think I'd just pick a regular turtle."
no subject
"Well, I was like six."
Horses now have a far worse association for her. A night she does her best not to remember unless she has to. But nothing could be further from her right now when she can feel Louis looking at her in that way that he does.
She turns to face him.
"You like turtles? Speaking of adorable..."
no subject
Louis has always been pretty ambivalent towards them. Ruby loves them, and always wishes she could have some at the school, and here he's helped Wendy out at the stables once or twice. But they're fine. Just...horses.
He flashes a grin, a laugh bubbling out of him.
"Hell yeah. I had one before...everything. His name was Geoff and he was fucking awesome."
no subject
Clementine folds her arms across her chest with a tiny smirk in his direction. But she's kind of glad he does. ...think that.
She sinks down, gesturing for the chalk unicorn to do the same. She picks up a chalk, and she smiles at him.
"Geoff. That's an awesome name. What would he do? I don't know a lot about turtles."
no subject
He (maturely) sticks his tongue out at her, before turning his attention on what she's drawing.
"It was a great turtle name, and unfortunately he was not, as cartoons suggested a ninja," he laughs. "He kinds hung out in his tank and ate worms and stuff. He may or may not have crawled across a maid and scared the shit out of her and he may or may not have been placed there deliberately to do just that."
no subject
She tilts her head to the side, confused at first, and then-
"Oh, like the Mutant Turtles? I think I saw some of those cartoons," she says with amusement. "...I can completely picture you as a kid maybe timing out the right time to scare some maid shitless with his turtle. That does sound like a very cool turtle."
no subject
Poor Geoff, he did his turtle-y best. He puts a hand to his chest in mock horror.
"Le gasp," yes, he said that out loud. "Clementine! Are you saying that you think I'm the sort of person who would deliberately lay a turtle trap for a maid? Because...yes. Yes, I am exactly that sort of person and it was hilarious."
no subject
Mostly, Clementine just looks incredibly amused.
She narrows her gaze at him. "Of course, you are. I wish I could have seen it, because it sounds pretty hilarious," she says, and then she picks up a chalk and draws on the pavement.
A chalk turtle. It's not... terrible, but it only barely resembles a turtle, but it does waddle its way over to Louis.
no subject
Did he try to feed Geoff pizza? It sounds like he tried to feed Geoff pizza. Which is exactly what he did. It didn't work, amazingly.
"I was pretty damn funny."
For him. Not so much for the maid. He grins as the turtle comes to life. He doesn't care how terrible it is. To him, it is perfect in every way- because Clem made it.
"Okay this is officially the best event."
no subject
Clementine asks, raising her eyebrows in amusement as she fills in those blanks. Her creation comes to life, and it kind of has trouble moving very well, but it does look very eager. Her own unicorn-chalk pet has come to nuzzle her shoulder a bit.
The turtle manages to waddle over into Louis' knee a bit.
"All it took was a chalk turtle for you to find the best event ever?" She laughs, and there's a warmth in her tone that only Louis ever really brings out of her.
no subject
He loves his ugly ass turtle no matter what. He's absolutely picking it up and making cooing noises at it. He misses Geoff, okay. He looks up at her, grin wide.
"You bet! I have simple needs and today those simple needs have been met."
no subject
Her smirk only slips into a smile. It's a fond but genuine smile. One she only ever gives to him.
She leans over (over the ugly turtle she made for him) and kisses him, knowing that he once again went out of his way to make sure she wasn't so stuck in her head. "Thank you."
It's said softly as she pulls back again slow.
no subject
He treasures that smile, so very much. It's like a secret shared between the two of them. It makes it all the more precious because of that fact. Something special. He returns the kiss, his lips quirking- partly amused.
"for what? The shitty-ass unicorn?"
no subject
"No. As cute as my shitty-ass unicorn is-" It's not what she was trying to thank him for. She turns her head to look at him again. Something soft in her golden eyes. "Thank you for... being you."
For noticing she was lost in her own head and paranoia and guarded armor, for doing what he could to help her enjoy the day too.
no subject
"Oh, that," he flashes her a grin, trying to fight down the blush very much threatening to make everything much less suave than he wanted. "Well, I can always do that. You're super welcome. You too."
No wait.
"Uh I mean...you too, on the being yourself...thing. Because I like yourself. Yourself is awesome. Wouldn't change a thing."
what a beautiful scene/thread ;o;
That he thinks she is awesome too. Exactly as she is.
"Thanks. I try really hard to be myself."
But mostly she sounds amused, fond of him still. What could have been a far more tense day has turned into something good, because of him, and she'll never fail to notice the lengths he will go to for those he cares about.
For now, they have the rest of the day to enjoy.
