Summary: Catch-all log for The Good Place event!
The Story:

Welcome to the Good Place! Your character, tragically, has died in their world. They might not remember how (or maybe they do!) but it’s okay either way because conveniently they have earned enough points to go to the Good Place when they die! They’ve earned a house that they have been told is perfectly suited to them (it is probably not, but who are they to question the universe?!) in an absolutely delightful and quaint little Neighborhood with a frozen yogurt shop on every block. It’s almost irritatingly perfect!

Most importantly though, someone will be living with your character. Someone very, very special - their soulmate, hand-picked from the billions on Earth! Sure, it may not be who (or even what) they expected, but this is what they’ve earned from the good life they’ve lived in your world. They deserve this! They really, truly do.

Everyone is welcome to add details to what exactly is in the Neighborhood - everyone has different standards for what constitutes an "objectively good but still mediocre" neighborhood experience, after all!

Granted, this is a talking pony with colorful, sunny hair, claiming to hail from a place that her daughter would probably lose her mind over, especially since it's pretty obvious he isn't the only one of his kind.

Still. This is going to take some adjustment.

"Is there anyone else from Equestria from here? You're the first I've seen."

Yeah, there's no way this is "the Good Place." [She does the finger quotes and everything.] If I'm being charitable, it's the mildly obnoxious place.

[No Good Place of hers would stop her from swearing.]

Not sure if I've seen any of those, but he's just like a big talking bird. And he's kind of normal except for the bird thing.

It's kind of weird to put "the bird thing" and "normal" in the same sentence like that. [ Give her a moment, before she continues Ange has to (gently, since she's not a monster) try to shove the cat away while it's trying to lick Ange's frozen yoghurt. ]

I have at least several questions about how they decided who our soulmates are supposed to be.

Yes please!! [Steven says with an excited breath as he reaches for the kitty. He then holds the cat close to him while swaying back and forth.]

You sure love puns, huh? [ Her tone is still kind of dry, but she's trying hard to not sound too harsh at the same time when he seems so innocent. ] Does your cactus have a pun name too?

Soos starts, nearly throwing his hat off his head with how quickly he sits up straight.

"Um. Uh. I just. Should we be...doing something? Like. Soulmatey?"

Or else what's the...point of this? Exactly?

"We're supposed to share the house, I guess. My part will be my lab. I'll have to make due with the tools I can find though."

She's taking "share" a bit literally, as though they're going to seperate the house down the middle into his part and her part.

[Louis is a pretty personable guy. He makes friends easily - but he's not used to people knowing his name right off the bat. That's weird.]

Carol can't really remember how she died either. If it weren't for the fact that she seems to be back down to her human factory settings, she might think these idiots were trying to manipulate her into believing that she was dead in order to keep her contained, but that's neither here nor there.

Apparently she's dead. Apparently she can still do that.

On the other hand, the house is full of spiders and while this doesn't bother her necessarily, it is a bit ... obsessive. She turns towards the sound of footsteps as they come closer and tips her head to the side as she waves.

"Hi. Carol."

"I don't..."

It's too easy to say he doesn't think so. It's too easy to say that, when he's had the prickling feeling since he arrived that he isn't supposed to be here. R's arms drop, and he dutifully tips the half-eaten tub of frozen yoghurt into a nearby trashcan before he slowly, carefully, nods.

"Seems... I don't know." He frowns, as if expecting a headache to come along with his uncertainty, but nothing happens.

"Is this supposed to be forever?"

[angewiesen]

"Not just that stuff. They were doing all sorts of weird shit with food that shouldn't be possible. They were serving meat paste. They froze a whole potato and they shattered it like it was a hunk of ice."

Like I said, he was a little over-concerned with the food situation.

"Your part?" Jean raised an eyebrow at her. "And how do you think that's gonna work? There's only one bedroom. You gonna sleep on the couch?"

Jean narrowed his eyes at Sunburst. Again, as it originally did, it occurred to him that he wasn't freaked out or surprised by the unicorn's appearance, and that had to mean something. He sat down cross-legged in the grass and rested his chin in his hand and heaved a thoughtful sigh.

"And how did you come to this conclusion, while I have no idea what's going on, if we're both experiencing the same thing?" He thought aloud, after he gave himself a minute or two to just think.

I forgot they weren't supposed to know each other! Oh well.

[Nageki is very glad he wasn't given a pet to care for. He's going to take a few more steps away, just to be on the safe side.]

It'll probably be fine even if you don't take care of it.

[What's the worst that could really happen? It's not as if the cat will die, is it?]

The spiders really are an issue for Pike, though he's doing his best to ignore them and keep whatever creepy feelings because of them at bay. It's working okay for now.

He tries his best for a kind smile, the same one he'd use to greet a new officer.

"Chris." This must be that whole...soulmate thing. It could be significantly worse, it could be a tarantula.

Are you so sure? [ They might be in the afterlife, and technically that means that nothing should be able to die (again) here, but.. Ange really doesn't want to test it. Especially because-- ]

I really don't want to be haunted by a cat spirit for the rest of eternity.

She's really trying not to laugh but it's really kind of adorable. "Maybe they think it would disturb those that don't curse?" She shrugs though, not at all sure. Except it's kind of sweet coming from him. Which she is sure would piss him off more so she keeps that to herself.

"Maybe they've run out of space? Or it's... " She stops, sighing, because she can't think of another reason. She really wishes she could. "It's kind of awful,' she admits, hating saying that about Heaven. "Maybe they think it's what's best for us?"

It seems about as good an estimation as any - a great big shrug at the cosmos in general. Nothing here makes sense, and the longer he's here, the less and less sense it makes. He eyes the thrown 'treat' before taking a swig of his drink. With Gren's memories intact, he would have offered some to R. As is, he guards his booze carefully.

"Forever is a long fuckin' time so I sure fuckin' hope not."

"I don't give a flying fork what other people think. This supposed to be heaven? I want to forking swear."

He's so very very put out by all of this, it's making his life miserable. But there's a pretty lady (he guesses, for a human) and that's...something. One decent thing so far, well done, afterlife.

"Exactly, forking thank you. It's really awful. I mean, shirt, it shouldn't be making us this uncomfortable. It should be easier. Better? What's actually best for us."

A great name! That matches his magical butt tattoo of destiny and everything. Wow.

He's usually got the patience to deal with the odd looks- the confusion over his general existence. Patience enough to either ignore it or deal with it with a snarky little quip anyway. As is, he doesn't have that. He hasn't been around humans long enough to accept he'll always be an oddity. As is he gives an annoyed little snort, ears folding back.

"No. It's just me. And I don't understand it, it doesn't make any sense. Why would I be the only pony?"
