+ Something Is Coming +

Who: Everyone! (Plus a special guest.)
Where: In their dreams
When: 9/11-9/13
Rating: Let's go with PG-13
Summary: Something is coming...
The Story:

Starting on the night of September 11 and continuing for the following 2 nights, characters will go to sleep as normal. However, they will find that their dreams are unexpectedly vivid. Even characters who don't normally dream will experience this. Even characters who don't normally sleep will experience it.

Many of Wonderland's guests have dealt with events that distorted their dreams before, but this? This is a little different. Because something is coming in those dreams. Something not altogether friendly.

If you'd like your character to encounter this...something, post their dreams to this log.

Although she's not necessarily freaking out (yet?), Ange does at least seem alarmed by the fact that a dream that's so familiar to her, no matter how much it sucks, is deviating so much from its usual course.

She's at the very least alarmed enough to stand up from the desk she was sitting at, walking over to the door when the other students in the classroom are suddenly all disintegrated and gone and trying to open it.

"What's going on..?"

Outside the door, the hallway seems intact. Or at least, the hallway immediately outside of the classroom. In either direction, the lights begin to flicker off, one by one, plunging it into quickly advancing darkness.

Horror movie tropes usually aren't part of Ange's dreams, so this most definitely stands out. And while Ange is brave, she prides herself on not being stupid.

(Even though she really is more stupid than she'd think.)

So going into the darkness? Yeah, that seems like a bad idea. And it slowly moving towards her like that also doesn't seem great, so she quickly closes the door again on the hallway, opting to stay in the classroom while apparently feeling the need to summarize the situation out loud:

"Nope."

It's a good decision by any objective standard. The lights in the hallway are all out now and there's the sound of something...large moving out there, dragging past on the other side of the door.

Okay, that's a bad sound as well. She was still standing by the door, but the moment she hears that sound practically right behind her, Ange is making sure to not stay in that position for sure. She moves to the other side of the classroom, which thankfully is a lot easier to do now there's no longer any judging classmates around.

Still though.. why is any of this happening. She didn't ask for a dose of horror movie tropes in her dream! She may seem relatively calm under all of it, but that doesn't mean she's enjoying it in the slightest.

Something fumbles at the door, but seems unable to open it. There's a moment of silence, before the sound of whatever is out there retreats.

In its place comes the sound of a song played in tinkling music box tones. There are no words, but there's a possibility Ange will be able to fill them in, even if she is a Japanese teenager.
entreats: (she swears that there's no difference)

At first the music just seems like another horror trope going on here - you know, the whole eerie music box music out of nowhere kind of thing? But as a few moments pass, her thoughts travel back to the lines she saw on the desk before. The cadence seems awfully similar compared to the music, doesn't it?

With the tension of whatever was lurking out there (momentarily?) gone, Ange instead drags her hands down her face. "Is my subconscious telling me to smile more? Is that what this is all about?"

She's not sure what's worse, the thought of the message or the way it's being conveyed to her.

She's answered by more rattling at the door, more insistent this time. Much more insistent. The music continues, but is getting a bit off key.

Ange mouths a few more unintelligible sounds of frustration and general done-ness with this situation, but then sucks in a deep breath. If this isn't going to work, she'll look like a total idiot. At least no one is here to see her, but still. It's the thought that matters!

"Fine! Fine, I'll smile!"

Just.. give her a second. It's not easy, especially under pressure. Try to think of the few things that do make you happy, Ange. After a few moments she does manage to force a smile, even though it looks really awkward.

The sound of slow applause fills the room. Was that so hard?

The thing at the door doesn't let up even so.

The smile immediately drops at that. Is this just her subconscious' way of pulling a fast one on her in return for her always being so deadpan with everyone. Touche, her own mind, touche.

But it makes her significantly less okay with the situation. Perceived embarrassment is one of the easiest way to tick Ange off, after all, so she raises her voice. "Whoever's there, just go away!"

There's a deep, roaring growl from the other side of the door, but then it does just...stop. Whatever was out there, it might have given up. It might have gotten what it wanted, somehow. Maybe it got bored. But it can be faintly heard dragging itself away down the hallway, until there's no sound at all from beyond the door.
