Welcome to Hope's Peak Academy! A Japanese school that scouts talent from all over the world, collecting people who are the best of the best and awarding them with Super High School Level talents reflecting that! Are you the Super High School Level Racecar Driver? The Super High School Level Button Masher? Or some other incredible and/or unusual talent? Well, you've been invited to Hope's Peak Academy, either to attend as a student or to join its faculty! It's time for the first day, so be excited!
...Except things don't go so well. You recall blacking out upon entering the school, and now you're trapped inside. All of the windows and exits are bolted shut, the school is practically deserted aside from some others trapped in the situation, and there's no way of reaching the outside world. At least there's food, water, and rooms labeled for each person trapped here? The school has a full cafeteria, a swimming pool, a sauna, a giant greenhouse and plenty of other interesting areas! There's also one classroom that is in disarray and covered in blood, so watch out for that.
But there's also a black-and-white mechanical bear running around and claiming to be the Headmaster. He wants everyone to take part in a killing game and claims it's the only way to get out of school. When someone's killed, a class trial will be held. If the class votes for the wrong person, then the real murderer gets to go free and everyone else is supposed to be executed. If they vote right, then just the murderer is executed, and everyone else gets to continue with their lives within the school. There's also a bunch of general rules to follow, which are displayed in each student's E-Handbook. Breaking them could result in being punished with an execution as well! As time goes on, Monokuma will offer plenty of motives to try to push characters towards murders too: videos of loved ones in the outside world, taking said people hostage, threatening to reveal someone's darkest secrets, revealing something unsavory about someone else in the school or a simple promise of dollar dollar bills y'all.
So what will you do with your time trapped in the school? One can try to live on as if the threat of the killing school life doesn't exist. Hang out and mingle with people! Get to know each other, and hope you can trust them. You can even hold social events or try to hold normal classes in defiance of Monokuma's intentions! You can also try to investigate the school and unravel its secrets while trying to find a way out. You might also learn some secrets about yourself, such as memories of your real life. Or maybe you want to play Monokuma's game. Try to set up a murder, maybe even try to recruit an ally to help you with your plan? Or maybe a murder has already occurred. Make one up, or maybe you're suddenly stuck investigating any of the canonical murders from the series. Time for some investigation and preparation for the class trial! Or maybe someone's been found guilty, or otherwise broken school rule, and it's time to exchange some last words before an execution.

Either way, they can receive SHSL titles and be treated as students or faculty of the school. Powers will also be nerfed just enough to keep anyone from using them to escape the school.
