harry and lisa [incomplete]

Who: Harry Mason and Lisa Garland
Where: Gold Saucer; Ghost Hotel
When: 11/25/07
Rating: PG-13
Summary: They're going out. As friends. You know, because friends do that. Together. As friends.
the Story:

He followed Cybil's advice. Just a nice white shirt, untucked, black jacket and slacks--

Right. God. Like he'd never went to have fun with a friend before, nor is it like he knows how to behave around women in general. (Still, he can remember pretty well when he had tried to ask Jodie to marry him; it included a lot of stammering until she laughed and just said 'yes' to comfort his nerves. Jeez.)

Not that he should think along those lines. Lisa is a friend.

(A friend he really... really likes being around. Damn it.)

Garfield is with friends, he check on Harry, Heather is out -- so that leaves now.

Harry rubs the back of his neck, hating how he feels at the moment, but he waits in the lobby of the hotel.

Lisa walks down the stairs, still sort of amazed at the completely different look of the whole place. Part of her hair is pulled back into a hair clip. Her dress is light blue and her jacket is white and her earrings are red and-

Well, to be honest, Lisa wasn't sure how dressed up she ought to be.

But this was no big deal. Just two friends hanging out. She wouldn't say anything dumb, or do anything dumb. They were just buddies. She takes a deep breath and nervously brushes off her dress, before approaching Harry with a smile on her face.

"Hey there."

Lisa takes his arm, her cheeks already kind of pink. "Thanks. You look..." She pauses only to let out a coy giggle, looking down at her heels briefly, "You look really handsome yourself."

She thinks she must look silly already.

Squeezing Harry's arm a little, Lisa cocks her head to the side as she meets his eyes. "So...where'd you wanna go?"

She laughs when Harry mentions the rollercoaster. She tried that out earlier herself, before occupying herself with the arcade (since she didn't know what a chocobo was at all, nor was she good for the battle arena, and event square wasn't holding a play when she was there). "There's a gondola here? I didn't know. Let's check it out!" Guess that was what "Round" square really meant.

Lisa sort of hugs Harry's arm now, sort of pulling him along as she starts for the strange...graveyard that served as a transportation system.

She lets go though, so they can go through the weird tube system to the Round Square.

Lisa adjusts herself after landing in the Round square, nearly falling over herself. Thank God she wouldn't have to get used to this.

"Come on, Harry." It wasn't any secret that Lisa was really excited to go on this ride (she was practically bouncing in her heels). From the inside, this place was amazing. How it looked on the outside? She could only imagine.

And well, it would be special to see it with Harry.

The fee was tiny and barely anything, so she didn't mind paying (besides it was leftover money from the arcade earlier). The empty gondola moves down to the platform. Lisa reaches to take Harry's hand. "Let's go?"

She giggles, trying hard to not smile so wide. At this rate, her cheeks'll be sore by morning from smiling too much. She follows Harry into the gondola, taking a seat on one side. But she keeps her fingers around the other's for just a little longer, liking how warm just the touch made her feel.

When the gondola starts, she lets go, turning her gaze to the window at their side. The nurse watches in awe as the scenery changes...into something that seems so magical.

"Wow... Look at that." It was simply...amazing.

Lisa didn't want to keep holding Harry's hand, in case it embarrassed him too much, but...

No, she likes this a lot.

When he squeezes her hand, her heart skips a beat, surprised, but reassured. And so happy. She squeezes his hand back with a tiny laugh.

"I know." Lisa leans forward a little, her expression dreamy as she admires the fireworks. "It feels so unreal..."

She looks Harry in the eyes then (how she loves the way his eyes gaze on her), smiling softly. She places her other hand on top of Harry's, her voice getting quieter.

"Except I'm pretty sure I'm not dreaming. This is real...isn't it?"

[identity profile] alonetomorrow.livejournal.com 2007-11-27 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
"I would too. It's so beautiful..." She was pretty sure she was talking about the fireworks, but she couldn't stop looking at Harry, the lights illuminating his face...

The two of them, together like this. It didn't take a rocket scientist to know what it meant. And despite all her denial, despite what she said to cover it up (just friends, only friends), Lisa knew it too. She thinks she's known it for a while.

"Harry...?" Her fingers hold onto the other's hand firmly, the whistling of fireworks making up for her lack of words. He looks so happy. She was happy. She was so happy being here, with him.

Her heart grips tight with a sudden, and probably foolish, bravery.

She leans in even closer, close enough to feel his breath on her cheek (this was dumb, this was too close), the edge of her lips quirking into a tiny, tiny, but apologetic smile (but what was the point of being sorry now? It was already too late to turn away, wasn't it?), before she lightly presses those lips against Harry's.

No response?

...Yeah, that's what she thought.

Lisa pulls away quietly, lowering her eyes, taking the touch to her cheek as a sign of polite rejection in this case (even with this, he was polite, huh?). And the doubts start clouding her head again.

"I'm...stupid. Sorry. I shouldn't have..." she whispers.

"Only if I...?" the blonde repeats, keeping her eyes settled on her lap.

That is, until he's-

Until he's kissing her.

Harry...?

Did he really- was this actually happening?

Surprised eyes slowly close, and she relaxes, her fears starting to disappear. She's kissing him back.

[identity profile] alonetomorrow.livejournal.com 2007-11-27 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh...Harry..." They weren't particularly fancy words, nor were they too simple.

So how was it that they could make her chest feel so tight, but her heart feel so free?

"I-..." It feels harder to breathe, her voice more difficult to summon from her throat. "Do you really-...? I mean, I..." Her fingers, trembling a little, reach up to touch Harry's hand pressed against her face.

"That...means so much to me. To hear you say that. Because I...I love you too, Harry."

There it was.

"And I have for some time..." What she's wanted to say for so long.

But now that she's said it, she laughs a little nervously, tucking back a few loose strands of hair. "God, Harry. I...I'm so happy." And so relieved. Though her heart seems like it could burst any second. "But...all of the sudden, I feel like I could cry a little. Isn't that just the strangest thing? Heh..."

[identity profile] alonetomorrow.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
"I do. And I have..." she answers in a quiet voice. "I just...didn't know how to tell you. I thought you'd reject me..."

Lisa leans her head against Harry's chest, a little more comfortable with the motion than the other, curling an arm over his waist. So warm. The nurse sort of inches closer, so her side can press against his just slightly.

"I'm glad I don't scare you 'cause...I really like being with you." If he left, Lisa honestly didn't know what she would do. "And I...I want to stay with you too. I want to be by your side for as long as I can." For as long as she's allowed. Till the end, she supposes, whatever the 'end' may be.

She peers up into Harry's eyes, cocking her head to the side with an unsure smile. "Um, does this mean-I mean, are we...? Are you...uh, my boyfriend now?"

[identity profile] alonetomorrow.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Just asking, 'cause...that's the formal term, right?" She laughs too. Boyfriend, huh? It felt so weird, calling him that, seeing him in that sort-of light.

"Yeah...yeah I do. Want you to be, that is." Lisa reaches up to fondly brush at Harry's hair, her eyes getting a little watery (god she felt so sensitive but her heart- was this really happening?). She almost couldn't believe this- it all felt impossibly true. Like the sweetest dream she could ever have.

She strokes Harry's cheek with the back of her fingers. The only dreamy thing here was the expression on her face.
