the Story:

There had been a break in snowfall. The sun was actually out today and all that was left was untouched snow that had been left in its place. That morning, when Yotsuba had awoken and looked out the mirror, she had seen the beautiful wonder of snow from the Freeshooter and Melodious Nocturne's window.

The snow had made her face glow happily with childish glee before the two had been giving the most energetic wake up call they had probably ever been given that morning.

Now, after a good scolding about waking people up early in the morning and getting herself changed, she was standing in the doorway all geared up and glaring impatiently at her two surrogate parental units.

She wanted to play. And she wanted to play now. u_u

Said Freeshooter had been hoping to make the best of the dramatic change in weather by staying indoors and polishing his recently-returned guns. He could fuss over the weapons like some housewives fussed over their fine china, carefully inspecting each niche and cranny for areas in dire need of polish.

That idea was, of course, lost to the wind with the rude awakening from one almost-adopted daughter named Yotsuba Koiwai.

Sitting up blearily in bed next to an equally-frazzled Demyx, Xigbar stared at the little girl as if expecting her to suddenly turn into a midget singing about the misfortunes of eating stolen chocolate. When that didn't happen, he lifted one hand and rubbed at his face wearily.

"Kid, it's, like, 8 AM," he groaned. "C'mon, can't we get some more sleep?"

It was a given by the sitarist's own reaction that he wasn't much of a morning person, either. Two bumps for shoulder blades were the first to jolt up beneath a thick blanket, his head still lagging behind with the rest of his body as it lolled and smothered itself in one big, comfy pillow. There was a muffled little groan of weak protests, but eventually daddy!instincts willed him the strength to sit up, usually-gel-spiked hair looking more like a bird's nest from somewhat of a wild (wherein Demyx tosses every five minutes or so) night.

Finally, heavy eyelids peeled open with a few blinks, his mind trying to focus as it registered the little girl's words.

"Yotsuba..." The musician started slow and groggy, but he still managed to sound a little more peppy than, say, the tired freeshooter beside him. It was still a painfully early hour to be getting up (or so he'd guessed with Xigbar), but disappointing Yotsuba, especially as excited as she already was, would be far worse a regret than losing a few extra hours of sleep.

So, rather than look at the time, the Melodious Nocturne slung his legs over the side of the bed with as much energy as he could currently muster, rubbing the back of his neck with a yawn while glancing toward the closet. ...Motivation, motivation.

"Okay, I'm up." With one quick look at the little girl and a smile renewed, the sitarist hopped up to his feet and stretched for what would probably be his first and last time of the day, hoping to make it through whatever Yotsuba wanted to play. "How about you wake up Scarface while I get dressed? I bet he'll jump right up if you ask again!"

"Agh...! Geez..." Xigbar groaned and tried to defend himself against the attacking child, throwing the blanket over his head in a misguided attempt to stop the pinching. Unfortunately, the extra movement just proved to wake him up more, and he let out a big sigh after a few more moments of Yotsuba's attentions.

And so began another day. This was hardly the first time Yotsuba had climbed into the bed and awakened him in a decidedly unique manner.

Struggling out of bed and nearly taking the sheets with him, Xigbar yawned loudly and stretched several times. "Okay, I'm up, I'm up. Man, it's not like the snow's not gonna be out there tomorrow..." He paused, giving Yotsuba a look that resonated towards 'We better not go through this tomorrow, too.'
