Who: Seimei & Ritsuka
Where The Kitchen
When: After this post
Rating: PG for cussing
Summary: The reunited brothers spend some quality time together cooking. Yeah...this is gonna turn out well.
The Story: Seimei was already in the process of picking out ingredients by the time Ritsuka came down. As the older brother he liked to do things for his little brother. Not many received the privilege of enjoying the young man's nicer qualties. Of course when Ritsuka comes down he's greeted by a smile.
"Did Ritsuka get lost?"
He wiggled his ears to give him a hint it was a joke. Older Brothers were older brothers even when they were bastard covered bastards with bastard filling.

If Ritsuka still had his ears they'd have been flat back to match with his pouting face and light blush. "I was in the fifth floor of the library." He didn't sound defensive though, just pouty.

The boy padded over to peer along his brother's shoulder at the meat before moving to the sink to wash his hands. "Psychology. It's interesting." After his hands were washed and dried he started to help by cutting the vegetables.

He glanced over at Seimei. "What has Seimei been doing?" Since, you know, yesterday, when I spent the night.

"I was thinking about it." It would be nice to be able to try and help others, the way Katsuko-sensei did.

He continued to chop the veggies in silence for a few moments. "Have you seen the gardens yet?" Ritsuka always thought the gardens were really weird.

When Seimei mentioned the hills Ritsuka stopped dead. "I hate those hills. I hate them the most." His grip on his knife was tight as it came down and sliced a bit of his finger. He didn't even notice.

Those hills, they were once Alice's eyes, her memory of Dinah. She was his friend, Alice. She was kind to him, and that woman took her away.

Numbly Ritsuka moved to the sink. He was starting to feel the pain from the finger. It stung and he winced, trying to fight back tears. It had been so long since something like this happened. Since he'd been in real pain. The fight he'd gotten into and the actions from the event were noting compared to this pain. "I'm ... alright." He continued to squeeze the wound even as blood seeped through the towel.

If Seimei would dare to look, there was a small sliver of flesh lying next to the celery.

Ritsuka shook his head. "Simon left almost a year ago." He tried to think back to his studies in medical books, even as a few drops of blood dripped into the sink. Elevate. He jerked his hand upward, trying to move it over his heart.

"The book says it'll stop faster if we keep it above my heart." The boy seemed so calm about this. As if they were just cooking something and not trying to stop the bleeding of his finger. Of course, Ritsuka was used to abuse and bleeding. It didn't scare or surprise him like it should. "One of the cabinets should give you first aid stuff ... as long as that's what you want."

The boy shook his head. "It's been better then at home." He'd only died once, and been hurt twice in two years. At home the pain was a constant thing. Mother was always hurting him. She didn't mean to, but she was. "She misses you." There was a note of sadness in his tone. She wanted Seimei really. She wanted him to return home even they everyone believed him to be dead.

"She wants you to return." His fingers squeezed a bit harder as his hand lowered. Ritsuka knew he wasn't enough, not nearly enough for their mother. He wasn't that Ritsuka, nor was he Seimei. He could never be enough.

The boy shook his head as his hand bled into the sink. "She isn't. Time doesn't move when we're here." There were a few moments of silence. "I've been thinking about her though. "I want her to be happy. I don't ... make her happy. I don't think he'll return." He was referring to the other Ritsuka. The one that everyone here said didn't exist.

He didn't mention that he wasn't sure he wanted him to return.

"I think the blood's going to have to clot on it's own. We'll have to wrap it up." He unwrapped the towel and the blood, while some was still fresh, was mostly old and starting to clot around the wound. "Could you help me bandage it up?" When the boy looked up at his brother it was with slight pleading in his eyes. He couldn't bandage himself, and he knew that bandaging someone else would probably be considered unsightly to Seimei. He wasn't sure if Seimei would help him this time, and it scared him.

He quickly ran the finger under cold water, which cleaned the wound a bit more. It looked rather bloody still, but much better then it did before.

At the look on Seimei's face the younger Aoyagi frowned. "You ... don't have to. If you don't want to." He felt his heart sink. Seimei had always been so ready to help him bandage himself before. Now he was simply ... not Ritsuka.

His brother's actions made Ritsuka blush a deep red. Seimei was doing something so very like Soubi. That was ... dirty, yet the fact that Seimei would willingly do it was comforting as well. He watched as Seimei bandaged him, blushing the whole time.

Once bandaged he leaned forward to wipe at Seimei's lips with a clean towel. "Seimei shouldn't drink my blood. It's dirty." He was frowning, but still blushing, and the warmth of his actions, the pure concern for his brother was evident.

Ritsuka would never dream of hurting his brother, he just wanted to help him, to make things better for those he loved.

Ritsuka blushed at his tease and looked down. "It ... was the hills. They were Alice's eyes." He sounded sad when he spoke of them. "Alice ... was nice. She was trapped on the other side. We tried to stop the Queen from hurting her ... but we failed."
