Who: America and Helena
Where America's room
When: A few days after Easter
Rating: G
Summary: It's time for that talk.
the Story:

Helena hadn't touched the chocolates Alfred had let for her during Easter. All she had done was put them on her desk, along with the rabbit toy he had given her. But she had kept them, at least...

She glances at them, a bit nervous, as she leaves her room and walks toward his. It's a long walk and she wishes it was shorter, so that she could get everything over with as soon as possible. All the advice she had gotten the day before Easter was playing in her head. There were two things that most people told her to do, the first of which was to talk to him. And that's what she was going to do.

She knocks on his door, taking a deep breath.

Okay, in all honesty, America was avoiding her. Not so much her specifically, but thoughts of everything. Easter was nice, but.. well.. he spent most of it trying to not think about how he messed up.

That's how he constructed his ridiculous idea. Maybe, if he does something good, helps Helena and everyone out someway...

Of course, his plan is filling him with doubt. England's not helping with that. It's only because he didn't think of it first, though. Right?

There's a knock on the door, and America gets up, opens it and peeks out.

And... pauses. Somehow, he manages a light smile.

"Hey, Helena."

Oh right, their talk.

"Actually... could we go somewhere else?"

Most likely, England is inside sewing something.

"I'm sure there's an empty room nearby we could use..."

He's not really looking at her, either. Making out with her evil twin is kind of fresh in his mind.

"Or.. we could go outside."

So that's nine flights of silence. Especially since America follows her, and doesn't want to say anything until she does.

Meanwhile he feels like a kicked puppy. He hates admitting he's wrong, and this is just.. all over the place with that. Plus, England did quite a good job of upsetting him over this, too.

Why does he talk to England about anything? Seriously.

So eventually they're outside. The air feels nice, at least. He takes a deep breath.

"At least it's getting warm out. Summer's coming quick."

...Okay. He isn't expecting that. Granted, it doesn't hurt but he's caught off guard enough to take a step back, and his eyes turn to her and he just stares at her, wide eyed.

Helena's not supposed to be violent. Okay, so she has his attention.

And then the 'yelling' starts. America stuffs his hands in his pockets, and he looks at her and tries not to look anywhere else but it's too tempting. He's not used to this.

"I didn't want to upset you!" Okay, might not be the best thing to say. "Besides, I thought it was you! How exactly was I supposed to just come out and say that?"

"I know."

He looks down at the ground once she turns from him, and tries not to shrink or anything. No, he's the hero. He can handle.. this..

Whatever this is anymore.

"I'm sorry." He tries, makes a face. He rarely apologizes. "You're right, it shouldn't have happened. And I don't know how I can change that it did."

He sighs, glances at her back once, before he raises his eyes toward the sky.

"...Maybe France was right."

How is he supposed to argue with her, when he knows he's wrong. He makes a face, shrugs his shoulders, and finds interest in the ground beneath his sneakers.

"That I shouldn't be dating a human. That all I'll do is end up hurting you."

America looks up and is a bit surprised to see her looking at him. He's trying to be careful on what to say, too, because he doesn't want to hurt her, either. He is surprised by what she says though. France? Really?

"...But I cheated on you. That's.. unforgivable, really. They have lots of talk shows on it at home, and usually it involves a chair getting thrown and lots of yelling."

[identity profile] idkmybfftony.livejournal.com 2010-04-07 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Or you could punch me again?"

He tries. Really.

He almost wants to ask if she means if it's worth to be punched again, but he refrains.

"I just want you to be happy, without all that other stuff. Whatever that takes, anyway."

"She knows my name now."

This kind of annoys him but its unavoidable. Its a bit overwheling for so many to know his 'human' name, not to mention a bit odd. He was America first, after all. But considering how he got out of-

"...okay." it surprises him a bit, but besides feeling really awkward, he's not sure what else to do. It kind of bothers him that she keeps calling him stupid, but maybe he was. Heroes take their abuse in stride.

"In the end, it's up to you. I'm not dating everyone you spoke to, so it's your choice."

That... sounds like a good thing, right? He shouldn't feel disappointed, though he kind of does. Then again, he really doesn't understand the technicalities behind human relationships, so he figures that it's fine, since she's not breaking up with him.

"Okay, sure!" Nations can be very patient, after all. There's a pause.

"So.. this means that we're okay now?"

He smiles back. In a way, it's good, because now he can focus on if the Queen shows up. Plus, if something happens to him, it won't be on bad terms between them.

Doesn't help the awkward though.

"Well, I.. guess I'll see ya around, then."
