Interrogations with the Queen

Who: The Queen of Hearts [[livejournal.com profile] onlyredroses] and her criminals (Alex [[livejournal.com profile] 40410], Canada [[livejournal.com profile] unseen_maple], Jack Ryan [[livejournal.com profile] kindly_done], Poland [[livejournal.com profile] reckless_eagle], and Rachel [[livejournal.com profile] dontrainonmy]
Where On the mirror side, in an isolated room.
When: Sunday the 18th to Monday the 19th. Time is funny like that.
Rating: PG/PG-13
Summary: Five innocent citizens of Wonderland have found themselves under arrest for really stupid things! What does the Queen have planned for them?
the Story:

Each of the criminals will find themselves in a room, upon their forced arrival into the mirror world. There is only one door, and it is locked. The only other exit is a mirror; however, they will not be able to travel through it. They will be able to look through it, however, and see what the left behind. If they're lucky, they may even get a glimpse of their mirror walking around where they belong.

There are two chairs, should they like a seat. They are on either side of a table, and on the table in each room is a large jar with a sealed lid. Aside from these items, there is nothing else in these rooms.

The queen will enter soon enough. It would be difficult to interrogate all of them at once, of course.

All for me? You shouldn't have! <3

And then, quite suddenly, he's not in his room any more.

Alex freezes for a few horrible seconds. There are only two people who he knows can do that: the Operator and whoever brought him to Wonderland (and he's still not convinced those are different people). His watch doesn't show any lost time, at least. But he doesn't have his camera.

"Shit. Oh shit. Oh shit."

He looks around sharply, on the offchance that he dropped it - but no, it must still be in his room. He looks up at the mirror in time to see himself draping a towel across it on the other side, blocking the view.

Whatever the everloving fuck is going on, he needs to get out of here. And get his camera. Oh god, anything could've happened without his camera.

Until the Queen arrives, he'll be trying the door. And then trying to break the door. Things he freezes seem liable to shatter, so if he freezes the door and then kicks it - or whacks it with a chair - then surely that'll...

...have no useful effect?

Alex whirls around in shock when she first speaks, his plasmid hand raised, and--

--doesn't fire it. He's never fired it at a human being (or apparent human being). There's a very distinct, very important line between freezing a creature that's attacking you and freezing a person who's talking to you.

He keeps his hand up, though, because she's obviously far from harmless. She must have transported him here, she appeared out of nowhere, and he's just waiting for her to become an immediate physical threat. He doesn't even know what to make of the list of crimes, but that's a less important question than:

"Where the hell am I?"

Alex's voice is as harsh as it was over the comm', and now it has the sharpness of fear as well.

Re: CANADA'S THREAD

[identity profile] unseen-maple.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
What the heck was going on?!? First he had been accused of treason and treacle or something. Then pancakes were illegal too. Then he had been pulled into this strange place. Matthew walked around the strange room, looking for any means of escape. No such luck. And through that mirror... Was that his room? And someone was in it. Someone who....

"Is that....me? That's crazy. This whole place is insane."

He whirled around in surprise at her sudden appearance. Trying to control his rising sense of dread, Canada accepted the invitation to sit down. Perhaps there was still some way to reason with her. Sensing from their earlier exchange that denying the crimes would do him no good, Matthew decided to try a different tactic.

"I'm sorry if I did anything to offend you, Your Majesty. I only arrived recently and I'm not really familiar with the laws here."

Politeness and deference were unlikely to work, but still worth a try.

First, he searches the room for a door. He is thorough. He is also panicking, because every glance in the mirror shows him his counterpart, grinning manically, in a room full of firearms.

When the Queen arrives, she'll find him on hands and knees, with his nose to the baseboards, looking for a hidden passage, a grate, something, anything.

Jack doesn't know much about the Queen, and as such is not appropriately fearful or respectful in any way. At the sound of her voice, he leaps to his feet and flattens himself against the wall, staring at her with hard eyes.

He raises his left hand, poised to snap, but...well, she doesn't attack him. She doesn't really look as if she's going to. With an effort, he stuffs the hand into his pocket instead and sits down, though he's tense nearly to trembling.

POLAND'S THREAD

[identity profile] reckless-eagle.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
One minute, he was in the antechamber of his and Lithuania's room with his communicator, and the next, everything changed. Damn it. So much for not letting them take him in... well, he still wasn't going to cooperate. That much was totally non-negotiable and junk!

Poland spent his time until the Queen arrived trying to open, unlock, or break the door, without any results to speak of besides growing more and more frustrated. He slung himself down sullenly into one of the chairs, with a little groan of "kurwa!"

POLAND'S THREAD

[identity profile] reckless-eagle.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
The Queen's tone made Poland bristle, and in an instant, he was back on his feet, hands still at his side but balled into fists.

"As if," he replied, glaring up at her. "This place is like, a total dive. Send me home, now!"

RACHEL'S THREAD

[identity profile] dontrainonmy.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
From the screaming at her mirror, and protests of how unfair this was, and how it could not possibly be happening, once in the room, Rachel started to quiet down. Mostly because, well, it didn't seem like anyone was listening anymore.

She looked around the room, arms folded over her chest in what may have been anger, or may have been insecurity. She wasn't looked in the mirror, but at the door, and definitely was not opting to sit in the chair.

Rachel stood there, silently, and realized she was really...thirsty.

RACHEL'S THREAD

[identity profile] dontrainonmy.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Rachel did jump, giving the Queen her desired effect, but quickly snapped, "I'm fine," to both counts. She stared at the chair, and not at the queen, but refused to sit.
