Baby Come Back [Closed]
Who: Lithuania (
watchful_knight) and Poland (
reckless_eagle)
Where The kitchen
When: The evening of August 9th (backdated roughly 2 days)
Rating: PG-ish, probably?
Summary: After meeting each other's mirrors, Poland and Lithuania were avoiding each other. Now Poland's looking for Lithuania so they can talk things through; finally, he gives up and ambushes him in the kitchen. More or less.
the Story:
Poland was dead tired. He'd slept fitfully since the Queen arrested him, unused to the beds he'd been sleeping in, troubled by the loss of Elaine's friendship, and miserable with Lithuania's sudden absence in his life. Still, tired though he was, he'd kept himself busy in the past couple of days. He'd looked everywhere he could think to for Lithuania, first with Aang's help and then by himself. The gardens, the stables, the woods, less obvious places like the ballroom and the music room.... he'd checked them all what seemed like a dozen times, and there was still no sign of his partner.
Another man might have been tempted to think that he'd gone home, and given up. But Poland... Poland wasn't the giving up sort.
If Lithuania was going to try and avoid him, he'd make it impossible. He'd go to the one place that Liet would be sure to come back to eventually, and stay there until it happened.
And that was why, on the evening of the 9th, Poland was curled up asleep on the floor of the kitchen. Not in the open, of course--duh, that would have been like, totally stupid! He had fashioned a tablecloth and the kitchen table into a makeshift tent, and had another tablecloth wrapped around himself like a blanket. He wanted to stay up and wait, in case Liet came in for a midnight snack, but his eyes just wouldn't stay open anymore... Just a little nap, and he could go back to watching and waiting.

He should have been there. He shouldn't have left Poland. Shouldn't have been hiding. Shouldn't have let his mirror drag him over.

"He tried, but he didn't... I'm like, okay, Liet, so chill out, all right? I'm fine. See?"
no subject
And, after a moment: "I'm sorry."
1/2 because of icons, hahaha I'm a dork
"He, um. He was like, there when I got back from the Queen's place, right? And he acted all like you at first, you know, fussing over me and worrying way too much about whether I was okay... Except like, he kept trying to kiss me, even when I told him I was totally not up for that. When I told him how crappy I was feeling, he said maybe I should try something else to not think about it, so I like, decided to go play dress-up. Something normal, you know?
"Then when I had my clothes off, he like... He kept trying to touch me. Pulled me against him and kissed my ear and told me I was tempting him. And that was when I started thinking something was totally wrong, right? 'Cause like... you always back off when I need you to. You're awesome about that.
"But I didn't quite get it yet, so I like, thought maybe it was you and you just didn't get it? So I told him, right, I was all, 'dude, didn't I just say I'm not up for anything like that'? And he just totally didn't listen! He like, pinned me to the wall, and you know, I got pretty pissed then because he was acting so weird. Bitched him out a little and tried to push him away.
"And then he totally hit me! Lame, right? And that's when it clicked, like, oh, my God, this totally isn't Liet, 'cause there's just no way you'd ever freaking slap me for saying I didn't wanna put out. I mean, you wouldn't have been acting like such a jerk in the first place, but right then, it was just like, no.

He decided to not mention the details about the fight unless he had to. Liet would probably freak out forever if he knew his mirror had tried to shoot him.

But why, if Poland was talking about it like that now, why had he been that desperate about lying with him earlier? Why... maybe the mirror had said something... "Poland... you know that I love you, and will never leave your side, and don't want to see you hurt?"
no subject
"Duh. I totally know that... That's like, how I knew it wasn't you, right? 'Cause you'd never have acted like that, not in a million years."

It was amazing, how suddenly and how intensely he wanted to smack his own head into the wall a few times.

"You'd like, better not have! Ohmigod, what'd he do to freak you out so bad?" He knew the mirror had tried to sleep with just about everyone he knew, and that didn't give him a good feeling at all about what might have happened between him and Liet.

"Yeah, for sure. But like... Liet, he didn't hurt you, did he? Or... I don't know. You're like, okay, right...?"
He didn't know what he'd do if Liet wasn't, aside from finding some way to kill his own mirror.

"I... We didn't have a fight, or anything. I just... I left, he left, and I didn't know how to do what you needed me to do."

More to the point, there was an even larger part of him that just wanted Liet to be happy, that couldn't stand seeing him so upset. He leaned his forehead against the other boy's, eyes closed, running his fingers soothingly through the soft, dark brown waves of his hair.
"Liet," he murmured, as soothingly as he could. "We're cool. Okay? We're totally cool. So you can tell me, and I totally won't get pissed... Liet, what'd he say?"
no subject
Even more because he knew just how much his body had wanted to let it happen.
no subject
"Ohmigod," he muttered, the sound of it muffled against Lithuania's shirt collar, "that total creep! I like, can't believe him!"
