Who: Vincent Nightray [
needsnosanity ], Gilbert Nightray [
servantofoz ], and Sasha Samemaru [
swimminginair ]
Where: The Garden
When: The Afternoon
Rating: G
Summary: Vincent is finally going to introduce his big brother to Samemaru, his self-proclaimed 'little brother'.
the Story:
They would both be here soon.
Vincent had talked to Samemaru about this some time ago - his desire to introduce him to Gilbert. He was sure that Gilbert would appreciate the young boy as well. After all, Vincent was aware that he'd become slightly soft, at least where this boy was concerned. Even his hobby of cutting up stuffed animals had been somewhat thwarted by the other's apparent love for the creatures. He'd even helped Samemaru put them back together and given the one a name.
Had you told him this was where he would be when he'd first arrived, he would have laughed at you. But the events of his stay here had done a great deal to him. The mansion's trickery and his death, as well as losing his brother the first time, had made him much more vulnerable.
While the darkness clearly remained in parts of his heart, there were other places, where the fog seemed to have cleared. It was an odd sensation. Even Vincent could not explain it.
All he cared about now was this meeting. He sat himself down on one of the benches and smiled. He wanted this to turn out well. He was almost positive that it would.

Strapping on Standard to his belt as usual, he patted Rue's head. "I'm sorry, you can't come today. Maybe another time," he told the plushie, before giving it another pat and heading toward the door. Slightly running, he went down the stairs and went outside, taking a deep breathe of the fresh air. The air calmed him down a bit as he headed toward the garden where Vincent had said.
Spotting the blond hair from a distance, he waved his hand and jogged over to Vincent. "Hello Vincent-san!"

The instructions he'd been left lead him out into the garden. He relaxed slightly in the fresh air, faintly reminded of the Rainsworth manor and Pandora headquarters. The older Nightray arrived last, spotting his brother as he rounded a corner. While Gil didn't hurry on over, he did quicken his pace. He paused at the edge of the bench and lingered there.

Of course, he had told Samemaru the truth after his brother had disappeared - that he had not in fact lost his memories, something he would dread Gilbert ever finding out. However, it was a sign of great trust. Vincent felt that, knowing Samemaru, he could trust him to keep that important secret.
"Samemaru... Gilbert." He nodded cheerfully at them both. "Thank you both for coming."

Vincent was right, the two didn't really look like siblings at first glance. But after a close look, Samemaru could tell the similarities. They were indeed, brothers it seemed.
"I hope I didn't make you wait too much, Vincent-san," he said before addressing Gilbert. "Hello, Gilbert-san. My name is Samemaru!" He bowed his head in greeting.

He'd been worrying over the detail of an extended stay at the time. The man nodded once, still every bit the servant he'd gotten his start as under two masters. He remained standing even when Samemaru sat down. He wasn't sure the bench would seat him as well as them. His thoughts shifted and he pulled his hat down slightly over his eyes. "So you both have been here roughly the same amount of time." It was worth noting to him.
He intended to search through Wonderland and get answers. But would either of them really want to leave this place?

"So you two have talked already?" He thought about it for a second and shook his head. Peering at Gilbert, he raises an eyebrow and grins knowingly. "Don't tell me you've been going around introducing yourself as Raven again."
Although he honestly doesn't understand his brother's logic, he drops the issue rather easily. After his brother's sudden absence, he really was just glad that the older had returned. "Have we? I hadn't really noticed." The blonde chuckled. "It's hard to believe it's been nine months already..."
Noting that Gilbert wasn't going to seat himself, Vincent decided he would help him. Although it was a bit of a close seating arrangement, there was plenty of room for the three of them. At least, as far as the blonde was concerned. While he knew Gilbert liked his space; his brother seemed so distant, standing there awkwardly like that. "Don't just stand there."
So he stood, grabbed ahold of Gilbert's arm, and dragged him over to the bench; pulling him down with him when he sat. To him, it was comfortable, sitting close to the two people who meant so much to him like this. "That's much better." He nodded happily.

"Oh!! I did! I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was you," Samemaru laughed, his face flushing a bit in embarrassment. "I don't think I caught your name then though."
He looked at the two with a smile, as Vincent went to drag Gilbert over to the bench as well. Samemaru scooted over a bit so there was more room to sit.

He shrugged after a moment. "I didn't give my name before." He'd been in such a hurry to find Oz and get out of the place. His thoughts turned to the headhunter and the victims of the latest attack. Somehow he had to get back. "I've heard a lot about this place from others," He started to say and fell silent, uncertain what to say. It had been a long month for him. Gilbert didn't want to wonder how long he'd be caught here. Still, at least Oz was around and to some degree Vincent too.

"I'm teasing, Gilbert, teasing." The blonde chuckles, forcing himself to look cheerful and at ease despite his inner turmoil.
When Gilbert started speaking again and then stopped, Vincent grew serious. "Yes, I'm sure. There's a lot to be said about this place. Although... I suppose not all of those things are bad. In fact... that old habit of mine that used to bother you so much... I've been able to quit it for the most part thanks to this place."
In fact, it was because of Samemaru that he was able to stop cutting up stuffed animals like he once had.

Listening to the two talk also reminded him of home and his squad members. It wasn't that Vincent and Gilbert reminded Samemaru of a specific person, but the air they produced reminded him of the air back at home. Inwardly he tilted his head at the feeling. Prehaps it was because he hadn't been around more than one person at a time lately? Maybe going outside and be more social was needed.
As the conversation became slightly serious, Samemaru pulled his wandering mind back to the two. He heard Vincent talk of a habit, but Samemaru didn't quite realize what the habit was. After all, he had only seen Vincent do it once.

What? Vincent was cured of his habit with scissors? How was that possible? He felt and looked bewildered at the change. "...You quit?"

Then his brother stopped in his tracks and the blonde got to enjoy his brother's bewildered expression. Of course Gilbert would be surprised. That filthy habit of his - he had clung to it for a long time. Of course... it hadn't been easy to quit. Under circumstances that made Vincent highly uncomfortable, like the events in this place, he reverted back to his old ways at times. However, he'd learned that the scissors had caused him more suffering than relief here. Of course... Samemaru's love for the stuffed beings he had once loved to destroy had helped. But so had the event with Oz and the pain that came after, to some extent.
"Well, like any habit, it isn't easy, but I'm working on it." When his brother had left before, he realized how little it all meant. This place wasn't 'home'. And without Gilbert, he had a lack of purpose. People weren't afraid of him here, and he found he had no goals, and therefore, no reason to hurt people. There were still times that the Bezarius boy got on his nerves, however, it was a far stretch from his normal behavior.
However, his brother's return showed that at least one thing hadn't changed, and that was Gilbert's importance to him. "But anyway... you wanted to know more about Wonderland? What did you want to know? I'm sure that between the two of us, we could tell you quite a bit." He smiled, hands folded neatly in his lap.
