Summary: CANDY RAVE PARTY IS GO!
The Story:

"At exactly midnight on the 19th, the mansion becomes a club where the party never stops--even if you want it to. Neon and black lights flicker everywhere and loud music makes the walls shake. Outside, Wonderland has become a grungy city of doorless buildings, lit up in neon that makes it impossible to make out any stars in the sky. The only normal fixture of Wonderland that remains are the merchants, though residents will find them changed. Their masks are the faces of animals, their booths are run down, and they'll swindle, scam, and even steal from you if you don't watch out.

But that's not all. What rave would be complete without candy? It's all over the place, littering every surface, in all shapes and colors. The floors are littered with empty wrappers that tempt you: everyone else is doing it, so it can't hurt to have a piece. Right? ♥

And it doesn't! Not at first, anyway. At first, it's quite pleasant, inducing cheerful, playful, laid back moods in anyone who consumes it. It's quite addictive once you've had a taste, but there seems to be plenty to go around."

Then the post says something about changes when the 20th rolls around. But today is not the 20th, so who cares? IT'S PARTY TIME!

"" He laughs briefly.

Burt laughs, picking up one of the candies and examining it. Unlabeled? Weird. "That don't sound too bad. I can sleep through pretty much anything if I'm tired enough, anyway..."

Smiling, Nagi drains his mug of coffee. ""

"Yeah, might be pretty handy now. Most of the events ain't quite so noisy..."

"" Nagi fingers the edge of the scarf around his neck. ""

"Ain't that the truth. Gets a little old, feelin' like we've always gotta be watching our backs..."

He knows a lot of people here are the kind of people who live with danger every day of their lives, and he respects that. But honestly? He's a dad, and a mechanic, and that's what he does. Takes care of his son, and fixes cars. And while parenting is sure as Hell an adventure all its own, he's really not used to all this danger and craziness, and doubts he's ever going to be. He's just kinda not cut out for it.

Nagi may be used to danger, but that doesn't mean he's ever started to like it. Outside of the events, the mansion was almost relaxing compared to where he'd been before.

Burt takes another pull from his coffee mug. Usually, when he closes his eyes and focuses on the taste of black coffee, he can just sort of pretend he's at the garage, on some slow morning before he's really gotten to work... the pounding bassline takes away from that illusion this time, though.

Still, he smiles over at Nagi. "Burt Hummel." He holds out a hand. "I can't quite put my finger on yours, either, actually..."

"" He grasps Burt's hand, then, smiling a bit sheepishly, adds, ""

"Which one d'you like better?" Owl sounded like a pretty weird name to him, but then, so did Nagi.

Nagi considers that for a moment before answering.

Calling it a nickname would imply that he approved of it. Or even less accurately, that he had chosen it.

"So which one do you want me to use?" Man, it'd seemed like such a simple question when he'd asked.

Honestly, Nagi had never really been given the choice. With an apologetic smile, he says, ""

Burt smiles. "All right, Nagi it is."

He unwraps a chocolate, looks at it curiously, hears Kurt's voice fussing about if it's organic or whatever, and eats it anyway.

"Huh. These ain't too bad."

"Yeah, they're all right." Not half bad at all, for free snacks.

Nagi picks up a piece from the countertop and turns it over in his hand.

"" He slips it into his pocket. ""

An amiable nod. Burt's not sure why, but he's feeling substantially more relaxed than he was when he came in here. Perhaps it's just that he seems to be making a friend?

"Fair enough. No pressure or nothin'." He takes another sip of his coffee, and finds himself actually sort of enjoying the music.

For the moment, Nagi doesn't notice the change in Burt's attitude.

Burt nods again. "Yeah, from Ohio. How 'bout you?"

He's not sure where Ohio is, but that's okay. He'll look it up later. When the library comes back...

"Oh, okay, you're a little ahead of me." Just a couple of years, though, not too long at all. "What's it like?"

""

Fingering the edge of his scarf again, he goes ahead and elaborates. ""

"Waitasec."

Burt didn't know too much about places that weren't Ohio, but...

"That was just... uh, six years ago for me. And Tokyo's kind of a big place, right? How come I never heard about it?" Seemed like the kind of thing the news would be all over... also, when did numbers get so confusing?
