Summary: Everyone is stuck with their memories. And some other people.
The Story:
This log's pretty straightforward. There is one thread per group for the first day or two of the event, before people are able to leave their initial dream bubble groupings. ♥ If you have any questions, grab a mod on AIM.

EDIT: The mods have decided to let everyone continue with phase two of the event in this one log, since there's overlap between being stuck in the bubbles and moving between them.

So if you're posting to a group thread that isn't your initial group, just your thread with what day of the event it takes place on so people will know it's not from the first day or so.

"Well, yeah."

A long gap.

"I like it here."

More than most places around here.

"Why?" It seems kind of unsafe. And inhospitable.

[blackflamed]

"You can hear the cars." She's gone distant again. "And the grass. It's like an ocean."

Karkat goes quiet, listening.

"...What do you do?"

[blackflamed]

She shrugs. Listens to the non-buzz of insects for a moment.

"Look around."

Mostly.

[forevercapslock]

"Smoke?"

[blackflamed]

"Yeah, of course." She laughs a bit here. "You wanna?"

[forevercapslock]

"I never have before."

Karkat's expression is curious but cautious.

[blackflamed]

She's already bringing out her slightly crumpled pack, and scoops two or three cigarettes out of it. Her eyes light up to match the little orangey flame, which hasn't reached the paper. She almost hands another one over to him, but pauses.

"Wait. It's not gonna kill you, is it?"

Maybe aliens can't stand smoke. She doesn't know.

"Even if it does, I'll wake up in a couple days, right?"

He holds out his hand for the cigarette.

[blackflamed]

"Alright. Don't come back and haunt me."

She hands it over, and passes the lighter to him, too.

"No promises."

He flicks the lighter to light the cigarette, inhales and suppresses a cough.

[blackflamed]

A lot of things come back to haunt her, anyway. But most of them don't involve smoke.

Most.

She takes a puff or two of her own and looks over. "The first one's always kinda gross." But she doesn't want that kind of gross to equal dead or sick, so that's important.

"So why do you have a second one then?"

[blackflamed]

"I dunno."

She shrugs and lets out a puff of smoke.

"To see if the first was a fluke."

And the fire. The little one on the end of the lighter, on the end of the paper. The ashes. The feeling that if she wanted, the dry grass could all go up. Bomf. Just like that.

[forevercapslock]

That makes sense, he guesses. "So you just keep trying until it doesn't suck anymore?"

[blackflamed]

"Something like that. Or you walk away."

[forevercapslock]

"You didn't."

[blackflamed]

"Nope. I stuck around."

[forevercapslock]

"Were you just bored?"

[blackflamed]

"It's hard to stop."

[forevercapslock]

"That's hard to imagine."

He's toughing it out with this cigarette, though.

[blackflamed]

"Yeah, I get addicted."

Like to video games where you set fires. But she says it in a sort of light tone. Almost laughing.

"So, what, the cigarettes are a gateway drug? What else is there?"

[blackflamed]

"Dunno. What do you like?"
