Summary: Everyone is stuck with their memories. And some other people.
The Story:
This log's pretty straightforward. There is one thread per group for the first day or two of the event, before people are able to leave their initial dream bubble groupings. ♥ If you have any questions, grab a mod on AIM.

EDIT: The mods have decided to let everyone continue with phase two of the event in this one log, since there's overlap between being stuck in the bubbles and moving between them.

So if you're posting to a group thread that isn't your initial group, just your thread with what day of the event it takes place on so people will know it's not from the first day or so.

They're over the bridge and standing inside Karkat's hive before he answers. "Hive" makes it sound like something weird and exciting, but it's pretty much just a house.

"I used to hate it, but I guess it grew on me."

It strikes her, that. How ordinary this place is. Besides the blood and sky and paintings. It's just a house. Like the sort she left behind.

"It's nice. To have a place you belong."

She doesn't. Not really.

"That's why I hated it."

He doesn't know why he says the things he says around her. Maybe because she's such a floaty type of person that he doesn't think it'll matter, admitting things out loud around her.

[blackflamed]

"Oh."

She hates it at home, for the exact opposite reason. If she let herself think about it too much, she'd be on the verge of figuring a few things out. The vagueness that keeps people at bay and escapes afloat. But she doesn't, or if she does, she doesn't show it, and just keeps looking around.

"What kind of place do you like?"

He shrugs. "I don't mind Wonderland that much."

[blackflamed]

"Really?" She's not been here very long, but she's gotten used to the sort of. The rants about it. The how dare it do this to us. She thinks about it for a long second, and then sort of says out loud.

"It's not that bad."

And maybe it means more than that, or maybe it doesn't, but it's there. And sort of quiet, too.

"Yeah."

Karkat's never really had a good idea of where he belongs. It's not out of his way to feel uncertain about how long he'll be here or how things will go while he's here. But there's a much smaller chance of danger and death here, despite everything, and it's quiet enough that he can think.

"It's not worse than where I was before."

[blackflamed]

She hates it there. Home. Mabase. Whichever you call it. Wherever she looks, she just finds more ashes. Things connecting her to things she wants to avoid. Like walking across a bridge at night and--

My brother? In the states? He has--

And later, with fog and robots and smoke--

Don't ever call me Ta-kun again--

But it always breaks off before it finishes.

"It's nice. To go away for awhile."

And maybe she doesn't have to come back.

"Yeah. I won't complain about it."

Which is saying something for him.

"Where else would you go?"

If he could. Not Wonderland, not here. Somewhere else.

He shrugs. "I don't know."

Not Alternia, not the incipisphere. He didn't know.

"Somewhere... somewhere far away."

Not Mabase.

"Far away isn't all it's cracked up to be. Especially when getting there is a pain in the ass."

"Finding a car is hard, huh."

"If by car, you mean a vehicle, that part wasn't hard. At least an asteroid is big enough to get away from all the fuckasses I'm stuck on it with."
