Summary: Everyone is stuck with their memories. And some other people.
The Story:
This log's pretty straightforward. There is one thread per group for the first day or two of the event, before people are able to leave their initial dream bubble groupings. ♥ If you have any questions, grab a mod on AIM.

EDIT: The mods have decided to let everyone continue with phase two of the event in this one log, since there's overlap between being stuck in the bubbles and moving between them.

So if you're posting to a group thread that isn't your initial group, just your thread with what day of the event it takes place on so people will know it's not from the first day or so.

Day 3/4-ish, if that's cool?

Karkat's common point of memory here is literally just kitchens. The existence of kitchens allows him to walk into Bela's memory.

He pauses inside in order to consider how ridiculous that is. But it's too late to really be that bothered by it, so he shrugs it off and watches Bela hang up her phone and lean against the counter.

"...Human hives are pretty much like troll hives, I guess."

Absolutely fine!

She turns around at the sound of a voice, her eyes widening in surprise at the speaker.

"This isn't a hive!" Bela says rather indignantly after a few moments, hoping that she wasn't about to be attacked. "Is that what you are-a troll?"

Honestly, she had expected trolls to be much larger, just like the ones described in fairy tale books. But this was her apartment and she doesn't remember having a troll here at this time.

"Yes. I'm a troll. Your powers of observation are stunning."

Karkat mosies further into the kitchen, glancing around. He's not super used to human adults, but his understanding is that they aren't nearly as dangerous as troll adults, so he's not being as cautious as he might be otherwise.

She gives him a look in response to that, watching as he made his way around her kitchen. Bela is going to keep an eye on him because one: he's a stranger and two: he was a troll.

After a minute or so, she has to say something.

"Why are you here in my home?"

[forevercapslock]

"My kitchen's back that way."

He gestures over his shoulder, in the direction he came from. A few feet behind him, her kitchen does seem to fade into his and more of his hive is visible beyond it. There's also the growling sound of something large breathing.

"I don't think I know you yet, but since I'm incapable of not getting to know every damn person in this place, apparently, my name is Karkat Vantas and I'm an alien. Just to clear up any thoughts that I might be some kind of magical creature that lives under bridges or some other bullshit human fantasy."

There. Bad first impression: check.

Bela looks over to where he gestured, casting her eyes over his kitchen and the rest of his home. She also hears that sound and it doesn't exactly reassure her at all. This wasn't a good day for Bela.

"Blunt and straight to the point. I prefer that." Rather than someone treading lightly around the topic or feeding her lies. "My name is Bela and you'd be the first alien I've ever met. Not sure if that's a good thing or not."

She would normally have a snappy comeback but now she is trying to work out a way in order to have her new 'guest' go back to his own home.

"Well, we have to work out how to not have our kitchens blending together."

"It's pretty easy. Just remember that they don't."

[onsilksheets]

"You really think it will be that simple?"

[forevercapslock]

"It is for me." Then again, he has lots of experience. He points toward the nearest window. "Just look outside."

Outside, Karkat's managed to turn the surroundings into an Alternian lawnring. Which is to say, it's a suburban neighborhood full of houses with odd architecture.

Karkat totally just co-opted your dream bubble, Bela. You got school fed.

Bela does look outside and doesn't see the buildings of New York anymore. Instead, all she can see is what he constructed.

"Show off." Yeah, she doesn't like the fact that he could do it. "I must be able to do it if you can."

She's full of confidence this one.

[forevercapslock]

"Even an grub could. It shouldn't be hard for a full grown human."

He's pretty dismissive about it and moves out of the kitchen, looking for her front door.

[onsilksheets]

"Are you always this abrasive or did I catch you on a bad day?"

Bela has to call it out after him because he's already moving away from her. It was quite rude.

"This is me with the volume set to about three."

[onsilksheets]

"Please don't go above it then."

[forevercapslock]

"You're a pretty picky human."

[onsilksheets]

A shrug. "Just how I am. Not going to change."

[forevercapslock]

"So then why the fuck should I change?"

[onsilksheets]

"Touche." Bela had to give him that. " But I still have to get out of here."

[forevercapslock]

"It's easy to leave the hive, or even this bubble, once you get the hang of it."

He pulls open her front door and steps outside, leaving the door open behind him. He doesn't go far, because who knows what memories of hers might be contaminating the area.

Bela follows after him and looks around, not seeing anything familiar. Back home, she would have seen skyscrapers and traffic with lots of people moving along the streets. It was strange.

"Well, looks like I've managed it so far."

[forevercapslock]

The bubble changes a bit to try to match both their enemies, and the hives nearby become decidedly more sky-scraper-esque. Karkat watches them grow with a grimace.

"No kidding."

[onsilksheets]

Bela watches as things changed around them, how they seemed to blend together; it was incredibly strange but she still hoped she would get out of here.

"What's your name?"

"Karkat Vantas. What's yours?"

"Bela Talbot. Where are you from?"

[forevercapslock]

"Alternia."
