[Event!]

Who: Everyone!
Where: Dream bubbles
When: 9/15-9/16
Rating: PG
Summary: Everyone is stuck with their memories. And some other people.
The Story:
This log's pretty straightforward. There is one thread per group for the first day or two of the event, before people are able to leave their initial dream bubble groupings. ♥ If you have any questions, grab a mod on AIM.

EDIT: The mods have decided to let everyone continue with phase two of the event in this one log, since there's overlap between being stuck in the bubbles and moving between them.

So if you're posting to a group thread that isn't your initial group, just your thread with what day of the event it takes place on so people will know it's not from the first day or so.

"Hmm." The Lorax peers at the dank darkness surrounding them. It's sure...depressing. "That isn't what I would name it."

He coughs, embarrassed. The young lady can't help where she came from, after all-- she can change things, maybe, but it's unlikely she's the one who made this industrial, underwater business happen. There's no point in making her feel responsible.

"No offense, of course. I just can't help feelin' a little...trapped."

"It's alright, that's how I always felt there, too. It was never really a home. Just the place where I grew up."

She shakes her head, trying hard to remember the surface again, the lighthouse where she was before. Her thoughts are hard to pry from that place, but it has the effect of opening the horizon back up again. The ocean spreads out before them, but so does the sky. Eleanor sighs, relaxing a bit. She knows it's not real, now, but the sight is a soothing one.

"I like having a sky better. It was a bit overwhelming for a while, but it's so nice to feel the sun."

Without her noticing, a deep sunburn has appeared on her face. She doesn't seem to be bothered by it, though, so it's most likely a purely aesthetic change.

The Lorax raises an eyebrow, quite surprised at the change in scenery. This girl must have had a very interesting life. Although it does seem like it was a bit sad.

"What was that place?"

Eleanor sits at the edge, letting her feet hang in the water.

"Rapture? It was a city, built underwater. The man responsible wanted a place for the world's greatest minds to flourish, and he thought the only way he could do that was to get away from the people living on the surface. He wanted to isolate those people from the influences of 'parasites', but in the end it seems that's what most of them became."

She sighs, propping her elbows on her knees and resting her head in her hands.

"It wasn't the paradise they wanted. At least, I hope none of them had really wanted that."

The horizon is stuck in a permanent sunrise, but Eleanor is more than happy to let it stay that way.

"Sheesh. You tall folks make happiness way too complicated."

Which he supposes is part of why the Once-ler did what he did. Not that it excuses it, but well. Maybe he isn't a terrible person.

Eleanor smiles and nods.

"I agree. I think I was only ever really happy when I was with my Father. He was the only thing I needed. At least it felt that way. Seems like things just get more complicated the more of us there are shoved into a tight place."

She shakes her head, and looks back to the Lorax.

"What's it like where you're from?"
speaksforthetrees: (Nope still bullshit)

Good question.

"Not good." He sighs, trying to think of how to explain it. "I'm the Lorax. I speak for the trees. And some folks came in and started chopping them all down no matter what I said."

The Lorax shakes his head. "It was such a beautiful valley. So many Barbaloots and Swomee Swans. And oh, the Truffula Trees themselves!"

As he speaks, a few trees fade into existence, growing right out of the ocean.

"Gorgeous. And now they're gone."
