Summary: Everyone is stuck with their memories. And some other people.
The Story:
This log's pretty straightforward. There is one thread per group for the first day or two of the event, before people are able to leave their initial dream bubble groupings. ♥ If you have any questions, grab a mod on AIM.

EDIT: The mods have decided to let everyone continue with phase two of the event in this one log, since there's overlap between being stuck in the bubbles and moving between them.

So if you're posting to a group thread that isn't your initial group, just your thread with what day of the event it takes place on so people will know it's not from the first day or so.

"What changes, you mean?"

Redglare shrugs and moves ever onward. "Sometimes it is the way events turn out. Your world is the future and mine is the past. There was a time that I thought the castes would go on until I died. And they did only because I never expected myself to die in such a way."

She turns back to look at him, and tilts her head the the side. "But it didn't go on for you and your friends, did it?"

"I don't think all that much changed about it after your time."

[sinkships]

"The caste system you mean? Of course it changed. Last I spoke with a different version of you, before you forgot your time here, he told me everyone was dead."

She's not sure if that's tragic or an improvement.

[forevercapslock]

"Okay, yeah, that's true. I guess if everyone's dead, there can't be much of a caste system."

He heads into his hive. Come on, Redglare, no reason to stay outside. He pretty much ignores Crabdad, though.

"But before our race went extinct, the caste system was still around and going strong."

Reglare has to duck to get through the door, her horns adding enough to her height to make it difficult. Thankfully, the ceiling is higher inside.

"I see the arrangements were made satisfactorily."

It's proof enough. He remembers a hive and a lusus. The cult did something right without her to guide them.

"And I doubt it would have ever ended, if not for you and your friends. Revolutions in our race are quickly and brutally culled."

"That's why all adults live in space."

"Oh?"

You'll have to forgive her ignorance, Karkat. The Summoner's revolution was long after her time, and the mansion's library isn't exactly tops on Alternian history. Or Alternian anything, really.

She's just not looking hard enough for the right books.

"There was some kind of uprising or whatever by the lower castes and the Empress decided adults couldn't live on the planet anymore."

[sinkships]

"Another? That's surprising, after what happened to the last. Though I suppose it makes sense. It isn't as if one would want pupas being raised around that sort of treasonous talk."

It makes so much sense, though. She wishes the cult hadn't been so moral and strict. Indoctrinating a generation would have gotten them so far if they hadn't been so moral.

[forevercapslock]

"Yeah. Plus, if you send everyone strong enough to do anything off to every nook and cranny of the galaxy, you're probably pretty safe from any kind of organized resistance."

[sinkships]

"I'd imagine that is also a benefit, yes."

She sniffs around for a moment at the remnants of his life. Posters of things she doesn't recognize, and a few other knick-knacks. She even takes a few tongue swipes at his lusus before asking the obvious.

"This is your lusus, correct?"

[forevercapslock]

"Yeah. What else would he be?"

"A statue, perhaps?" It's said almost jokingly, but with a vague undertone of interest. This was what they chose. Hm.

She immediately starts surveying his lusus and surroundings more intently. Recooperacoon, futuristic media, computer, posters showing various interests. She's mildly fascinated. She honestly didn't think that the whole plan would work this well.

"You were provided for as you aged. I suppose the lack of adults made that easier." Her tone doesn't sound much like someone who's surprised. Mostly vaguely intrigued.

[forevercapslock]

"Yeah. But I don't know what the fuck you guys were expecting of me, if I survived to adulthood."

[sinkships]

"I don't think I could tell you. Knowing about the cult is not the same as being of it, and I only know what may be used to bring them to justice."

Granted, they are not truly breaking any laws.

And yes, she is still keeping up this facade. Thanks for asking.

Karkat rolls his eyes. Not fooled at all.

"Are you done assaulting my fake lusus yet?"

[sinkships]

"On to more interesting things, then."

Redglare steps away from the lusus and presses further into his hive. She licks a few of his posters, but she doesn't recognize anything. The letters are obviously familiar, but she's a bit behind on the times as far as the invention of cinema goes.

Count on trolls to invent interstellar travel before film.

"...Those are movie posters."

[sinkships]

"I know what a poster is."

A short pause stagnates in the air.

"What on Alternia is a movie?"

[forevercapslock]

"A moving picture. People act out stories, it's recorded, and you watch and hear it remotely."

[sinkships]

"Why does such a useless thing exist in the empire? I understand highbloods like their plays, and the Grand Highblood is rather fond of jokes, but... It seems odd."

[forevercapslock]

"Because it means you don't have to see it in person. Which makes things a hell of a lot easier when there aren't any adults on the planet."

[sinkships]

"Well, yes, that much is obvious, but what is the benefit of it to the Empire. Her Imperial Condesencion never struck me as the sort to indulge in idle fancies of this sort."

She wonders for a moment if the empress has lost her mind. It would certainly be understandable. Simply because one is gifted with long life doesn't mean they have the mental capacity to handle it. An organic frame can only allow for so much.

"She's kind of far away."

[sinkships]

"It is possible she was not as far in my time as she was in your own, but she was still quite far. It did not keep her from halting that which they do not speak of in her presence. Simply because she is far does not mean she is ignorant."

Well, not in the sense that she doesn't know when things are being plotted against her.
