Summary: Time for the only chance at exploring Egyptian ruins that you're ever going to get!
The Story:

Once this rag-tag team of curious people (as well as the people who want to make sure they don't die) has been assembled on the edge of town, they'll waste absolutely no time getting over to those ruins. All of the abandoned equipment is off-putting, but at the same time really exciting! Or maybe it's just strange, for some of them.

But there are plenty of easy ways in - different tunnels and holes they could descend down. James turns to the small crowd.

"Are we all ready?"

He only waits about a half a second for an answer, before he picks a tunnel at random and starts marching forward.

[ooc: EVERYONE is welcome, even if you haven't tagged James yet. You could either assume you've been here the whole time OR you could meet up with the party while everyone's exploring. There's no tag order, because nothing would ever get done that way. Instead, it's a tagging free-for-all - just tag and threadjack wherever it works. And above all else, have fun! ♥]

Alan shows up to the party just as James and the rest of the group enter the random tunnel. He lugs along a time appropriate doctor's bag, complete with a little red cross on the side! Fancy! In fact, even his outfit is sillily dapper. He almost looks like someone who should be carrying medical supplies.

"Woah!"

These ruins are pretty awesome! Hieroglyphics catch his attention.

"Ancient Egyptians sure liked drawing a lot of animals! I wonder what all these fancy squiggles mean.."

They probably mean something like get out of here.

Blaine arrives shortly after Alan does, and he waves at him. He starts to walk over, but the hieroglyphics catch his attention and he stops to more closely inspect them.

"I can't believe I'm actually in Egypt... or, well, as close as we're going to get, anyway."

This was all a little surreal still, and Blaine was very much still working on taking it all in.

He waves back enthusiastically.

"Yeah, pretty crazy."

..Gee, there's something that almost looks like a button! Alan does not miss a beat and instantly pushes it because its a goddamn button. It makes a clicking noise, but nothing else for now.

"Hm..that went better than expected."

Kyle looks around, slightly disappointed.

"It could be that the mechanism's worn away over time." He presses the button again, leaning in close to the wall. He can't hear anything.

Blaine gives Alan and Kyle questioning looks, as though he can't believe that they're so easygoing (or maybe they're just crazy). "Maybe we shouldn't push any more buttons. We don't know what's going to happen."

He came along to explore, not to get into trouble.

Alan is both easygoing and crazy. Two for two!

"Maybe give it a few good smacks? Hitting things usually solves everything!" Or, of course, it makes things worse. It's hard to believe, but Alan is likely less mature than the ten year old standing next to him.

He turns to Blaine, "I'm sure we can handle it. Just keep an eye out for anything that might be a trap. As long as we're careful, we'll be fine!"

"Isn't that more likely to wreck the cogs and shit inside?" Not that he has a better idea, so he gives it a quick thump. There's a crunk and he steps back, wary. His eyes dart first to the floor, checking for a tunnel opening up - or a trapdoor - and he's caught unawares when a snake drops from a hole in the ceiling and lodges its teeth in his arm.

"Fuck!" He waves his arm around, succeeding only in smacking another snake as it falls down.

Blaine starts to make one last attempt to stop the crazy, but it's too late for that. Kyle's already hit the button, and Blaine's no longer focusing on dissuading Alan and Kyle from doing something stupid. He looks around, at the floor and then at the ceiling, and jumps in surprise as the snakes start falling and one latches onto Kyle's arm.

He tries to get closer to him to see if he's okay (he just got bitten by a snake, so he's not sure if anyone would be okay with that), but before he even can take a step, a snake falls and sinks its fangs into his arm.

"Crap!" He, too, waves his arm around frantically, hitting other snakes that are still falling rapidly from the ceiling. "We have to get out of here!" he yells at the other two, looking around for some sort of escape route from the booby-trapped room.

OhfuckOhfuck. His eyes widen as the ceiling tiles move and he catches a hint of black glimmering snakey eyes. Well, shit. Alan straight up dodges a rather nasty looking cobra by sheer luck, just to get bit on the finger by one of the snake's determined brothers. The serpent coils around his arm tightly. Alan proceeds to scream like a little girl and beat the snake, and his arm, against the nearest wall until its jaws unlatch. Progress!

"There!" He points at the escape route, another tunnel to the left of them, voice still a few octaves high from screaming like a child.

Okay, priories. First priority is to escape, second is to deal with the mess he's made. Poison: not a big deal as long as it doesn't spread too much.

Speaking of screaming like a child, Kyle immediately follows Alan's directions and runs off, yelling. Running is a little hard to do with another snake wound around your leg, but he manages to get out of the immediate snake zone and bash said leg against a wall until it drops off, dazed. He gingerly tugs at the snake on his arm, which responds by digging its teeth in deeper.

"Get out, you asshole!" It's super uneffective.

Blaine doesn't scream or yell, except for what he said immediately getting bitten, but he does run like hell to get away from the falling snakes. He tries not to think about the huge fangs that were embedded in his arm just moments ago, and he definitely tries not to think of the scolding he'll get from Kurt when he finds out about this.

He glances around, making sure the others are following him. A fine adventure this would be if they all died.

Alan runs off to the area free from snakes, following Blaine. On the way he takes out a blade from the doctor's bag he still has with him. One quick movement later and he's hacking away at the snake still attached to Kyle's arm. If that doesn't force it to let go, nothing will. Alan, being as good with sharp objects as he is, won't accidentally cut Kyle or anything. Accuracy is something he has in spades.

The snake whips around as Alan slices it, but eventually decides that it's in its best interests to get away before it gets hacked in two. Kyle looks dubiously at the swollen, red marks on his arm.

"Shit. That doesn't look great, does it?" He's feeling a little dizzy. "Think I'm going to lose a life?"

Having never been bitten by a snake before, Blaine's not sure what to expect. The bitten area is starting to swell, and suddenly it feels like the temperature's just been turned up to 80. "Don't say that. We're not going to die," Blaine says, even though he's not 100% sure that's true. "I think I'm going to sit down, though." Suddenly he's not feeling so good.

"You would be dying if I wasn't here! This is stuff that I could fix in my sleep. Just sit down and try not to freak out. The faster your heart, the faster it spreads."

Chipper as always! Alan inspects where he himself was bitten. He's gotta take care of himself first, and proceeds to do so. He takes out a bottle of topical anesthetic and plops it on the area he was bitten. A quick few slices in the skin is all it takes for him to get the poison to surface. He uses a little manual suction pump that he picked up from the closet and bam! That's done. No harm, no foul.

"We might feel a little sick after, but it won't be a big deal. Kyle, you're next."

Because he's little!

"...Uh."

Kyle was calmer before that demonstration, but it's not the worst thing he's seen or endured so he sits down as ordered. Is trusting his life to this crazy guy such a good idea?

"Someone let Stan know if I die so he can avenge my death or something."

Blaine was already feeling nauseous from the snake venom, and Alan's little demonstration didn't help make that any better. He swallows hard, trying to keep himself from throwing up. "Are you sure you know what you're doing, Alan?" He doesn't want to make him angry, but snake bites are generally pretty serious.

He doesn't want to have to think about what he'd have them tell Kurt if he were to die, so he chooses to say nothing instead.

"Yup! I'm positive! Just trust me."

His hand is bleeding pretty badly now, but whatevs. He'll take care of it after he's sure everyone will survive this. Alan inspects Kyle's arm and pours some of the gel on it. By the way, it's a great idea to rest your life on the crazy guy, because the crazy guy genuinely is a medical genius.

"You won't feel a thing with the anesthetic. Give it a second to work anndd.."

He moves in to make a cut, impressively quick and accurate. With the same blade? Oh hell yeah, sterilization is for pussies.

"Is it worth mentioning that I'm diabetic and my immune system is shit?" Yeah, he noticed you not sterilizing, Alan. He winces as he's cut, but scrunches his eyes closed and thinks of all the worse things he's experienced. At least no one is shitting in his mouth.

The more Blaine heard and saw, the more he thought this wasn't a good idea. "Maybe we can find another doctor outside." Assuming they made it that far. But it's a little late for that anyway, as Alan's already started.

"Never mind," he says, shaking his head, resigning himself to the worst.

"You'll be fine. Like I said, trust me. I've done everything from heart to brain surgery. This isn't exactly as tough as a heart transplant!"

He grins sheepishly, trying his best to set the two of them at ease, but probably failing miserably.

A few more cuts later, the poison somehow bubbles to the surface. He uses the manual suction again and inspects the cuts left behind, "Feel better?"

"Uh, yeah." He sounds surprised. "But I kind of can't believe you just did that. You don't look like a grown up, more like a teenager."

"Okay, well, it's my turn, huh?" Blaine sighs and waits for Alan to start doing his thing. "Let's just get this over with."

He gets to work again, repeating the process for Blaine, "Yeah, that's what everyone says..or says something like it."

He's pretty fast with doing this, mostly because he's had a lot of practice with poison. His hardest procedure had to do with a lot of poison.

"I'm 18. You know how some people are born with talents? I guess I got a big one."

Alan roots around in his bag again, "..Okay, now that you know I'm not just some crazy person with a scalpel, you gonna let me cauterize those wounds? This is the..not so fun part, but you still shouldn't feel it."

"Yeah, sure." Better than letting the wound stay open and getting infected, right? "I've probably still had worse."

Blaine just shrugs his shoulders and nods. Things can't get any worse, right? "All right, go for it, and then I think we really should leave before something else happens."

Yep, Blaine's a total Debbie Downer.

Alan's always wanted to use one of these things. Silver nitrate! Cool stuff. He takes out what looks like a large matchstick from the bag and a bottle of water.

"K. Will be over in two seconds!"

He dips it in the bottle of water and holds it over Kyle's injuries gently, careful that it only gets it on the cuts and nothing else. It sizzles, but doesn't cause much discomfort due to the stuff he put on before.

He gets a new stick and does the same for Blaine. ~~MISSION COMPLETE~~

"Yeah.."

Now he's tired, and still a little queasy.
Now, where's the exit?

Sweet, they're healed up, they can continue on their way! Totally just going to ignore that sick and dizzy feeling until it's too late, yep.

"Let's go find out what they don't want us to see!"

After all, it's got to be great if they went to these lengths to protect it.

Well, that hurt, but at least they're healed and not going to die! Blaine looks quizzically at Kyle, mostly because he feels dizzy and definitely sick. "Are you serious? We got lucky this time. Who knows what might happen if we go digging around again?"

"...Fancy squiggles."

Hey Alan, you're now being judged by a ten year old. A ten year old who doesn't know what the hieroglyphics say, but he damn well knows what to call them.

"We can get a book or find Evelyn and figure out what they - the hieroglyphics - say later. Let's just keep going and see what's in here."

Wow, that's a dumb as hell idea.

Beiste stands off to the side, eyeing James. This is going to end badly. She's aware she kind of wanted to go herself but, well, that was before they had a merry band of travelers. Meaning she can't just keep an eye on James and maybe one other person but...all of them.

She really wishes she got some of those magic powers left over from the Hogwarts event. That'd make life easier in so many ways.

And then James just starts taking off and she sighs, following him as she mutters loudly enough for anyone nearby to hear, "Does anybody even know what we're looking for?"

Blaine shows up just in time to catch the group before they head off into the tunnel. Something tells him that getting left behind isn't a good idea. He looks like he's excited, and he actually looks like he belongs in that setting. The clothes he got from the event fit him well and he manages to move around pretty easily in them.

He follows along with the group, taking in all the various walls with their hieroglyphics with a wide-eyed, fascinated expression.

This is all very exciting, and it's probably a once-in-a-lifetime experience. He just wishes Kurt was with him, but he makes a mental note to remember everything so he can tell him about it later.
