Summary: Eiri makes a surprise visit to Shuichi and.. *gasp* there's no figting or screaming.
the Story:

He didn't quite like this idea, he had no intention of seeing Shuichi at least for another week. Being in such close quarters with him for so long was bad enough and he needed a long break from it. At least when Shuichi was living with him, Eiri was able to leave the room or lock himself in his office. Then again, he wanted his laptop back (and seeing Shuichi was part of the deal he made with that despisable Yuuko), among other things- such as the earrings removed and the sweater as well. All day Eiri had the pink sweater with the yellow heart sewn on it under his long sleeve button up shirt. The mansion was never too hot or too cold, but today Eiri felt like he was burning up. The sweater was thick and having the shirt on over it only made him more insulated. He stopped at Shuichi's door, giving it one knock. I came all the way here, he better be inside. Eiri thought as he waited for Shuichi to answer the door.

Shuichi had just been sitting around in his room, playing with his keyboard and trying to be somewhat productive. After such a long time away from it, he just felt the urge to make music. That and he couldn't exactly sleep. It was almost as if the absence of Eiri yelling at him and throwing things at him was somehow throwing him off just the slightest bit. Hearing the knock on the door, he looked up from his computer screen and blinked for a few seconds. He had all the lights off, so now it was a little hard to see. Pushing himself up out of the chair, he shuffled to the door and opened it, a sort of shocked look on his face when he saw who it was. "E-Eiri...? Uh... did you need something?" he asked innocently.

Eiri peered inside, Shuichi's room was completely dark but he noticed the keyboard was on. How could he possibly work in such poor lighting conditions? Maybe that's why when he composed his music it always sounded a bit off key. Looking down at Shuichi, Eiri gave a small shrug, "To see you."

Had he heard Eiri correctly? He came here... to see him? Not wanting to question it in fear of pissing Eiri off, he stepped to the side to let him in. "Well uh... c-come in.. that is.. if you want to..."

That was easy enough. He half expected Shuichi to make a big deal out of his arrival. Stepping inside, he shut the door, not all the way, but enough to have privacy. He didn't want to risk getting locked inside another room with Shuichi. "Did you become nocturnal all of a sudden?" Eiri asked as he switch on the lamp in the room.

Shu walked back over to the chair and sat back down. Pulling his legs up onto the chair, he wrapped his arms around them and let his head rest down on his knees. He had to squint a little when Eiri turned the light on. "No... I just... I'm having a bit of a problem sleeping is all. Nothing big, really. So um... is there something you needed to talk to me about?"

Maybe. Yes. Eiri wasn't up for much talk, then again, without any conversation at all that would mean another day without the laptop. All of Eiri's personal documents were on their, including an array of private documents as well. He grabbed the extra chair by the nightstand, placing it down beside Shuichi sitting on it backwards so that his arms rested on the top of the chair, "What are you composing?" He said, sounding disinterested. Although, Eiri wondered if Shuichi would use his lyrics. If that were the case, the song wouldn't turn out half bad no matter the arrangement.

Now he knew something was up. Eiri wasn't the type of person who just randomly popped up and started up some sort of conversation. Especially one that involved Shu's music. Sighing softly, he just shrugged and shook his head. "Garbage. Nothing sounds right. It just... it doesn't wanna come out, yanno? I guess you could sort of equate it to writer's block. I dunno what it is but... I just can't seem to get anything right lately."

"Why don't you stop thinking so hard about it and just play," Eiri suggested, sometimes it was better not to force yourself to produce the perfect piece of music or the perfect sentence. His eyes trailed along the room, messy as usual. He did notice a few empty cartons of food and wrappers. Considering that Shuichi didn't eat much- if at all- Eiri couldn't account for the hours he slept if Shuichi had taken anything from his supply of food, he supposed Shuichi must have been starving when he got out. The least he could have done was throw away the empty containers, the room was a pig sty.

Seeing that Eiri was eying the mess he'd made of the room, he nibbled on his lower lip a bit and got up from he chair again. Grabbing the trash can, he went around the room and started to tidy up a bit. ""Well, I tried to just... let everything go and just play, but it isn't working. Something's holding me back and I don't know what it is."

"Maybe you've lost your talent," Eiri pulled out a cigarette from his pack. He could never go long without one. Turning about in his chair, he crossed his arms as he watched Shuichi clean the mess up around the room. "a lead singer is only as good as his band." For the most part, Eiri was attempting to carry on the conversation but perhaps he wasn't being to considerate to the fact that Shuichi was having a horrible creative block.

"It's hard to lose something you never had in the first place, Eiri." Shu said that with such a dull tone in his voice that he almost sounded like a child who just watched his dog get run over by a car. Maybe Eiri had been right all this time. Maybe he really didn't have any talent. "I guess the name 'Bad Luck' finally caught up with me... cause that's all I seem to be having lately."

"Stop your bitching. So you can't write lyrics and lack any composing skills whatsoever. You can sing. Isn't that something to be proud of?" Eiri took a drag of his cigarette, looking up at the ceiling and watching the smoke rise and dissipate in the air. He rubbed the back of his neck, the sweater was beginning to become itchy again, it may as well be made of wool. He wasn't going to give Shuichi credit where it wasn't deserved, but Shuichi did have an adequate voice. He'd give him that much.

"I wasn't bitching. Just simply stating a fact is all. A fact that you seem to have no problem reminding me of all the time." He sounded so passive that it was hard to imagine that he was trying to start a fight, which he wasn't. He was sick of fighting by now. And he hadn't been able to sleep since he'd gotten out of Eiri's room, so he was still very lacking in the energy department. Throwing out the last empty carton, he went over and sat down on the edge of his bed.

"Fact is fact. All I did was re-enforce it," Eiri said simply. He let the cigarette rest in his mouth, Shuichi looked horrible. There were heavy bags under his eyes and his hair looked like a bird was trying to nest in it. "You should go to sleep."

"I tried that, too. I laid in bed for two hours staring at the wall, the ceiling... but I just couldn't fall asleep. I've done just about everything I can think of. Drank a glass of warm milk, took a bath, tried counting sheep... but nothing worked." Shu looked over at Eiri with a sickeningly pleading look. Was it really so hard for them to get along? Especially when either of them were free to leave at any time? Seriously, Shu was finding it much easier to be nice right now. Maybe it was because he was just that tired.

Eiri rose from his seat, putting out the cigarette on Shuichi's keyboard. Shuichi had begun to babble, even though Shuichi always accused Eiri of never actually hearing what he had to say, Eiri did in fact listen. Whether or not he appeared to be was a different story entirely. Walking over to Shuichi, he looked down at the pink haired boy, Eiri could tell that Shuichi's mind was restless but his body begged to shut down. Placing a hand on Shuichi's cheek, bending down his placed a kiss upon Shuichi's lips. If milk, a bath, counting sheep, whatever Shuichi was doing to try and go to sleep- maybe he'd finally get some rest now. "Shutting up also helps you fall asleep."

Of course that kiss had caught him off guard, but he didn't seem to mind it too much. Once Eiri had pulled away, he nibbled on his bottom lip nervously, tired violet eyes searching for something that he apparently couldn't find. Feeling somewhat ashamed, he looked away. "Eiri...? I know I'm probably asking a lot of you but... would you mind just... laying with me for a while? At least until I fall asleep? I mean I understand if you don't want to. Just figured I'd ask is all..."

Eiri wondered when Shuichi was going to ask him to stay. It wasn't that he didn't mind, he had nothing better to do..though his mind did trail back to the laptop for a moment. Eiri sat down on the bed, leaning his back against the wall. "Just as long as you promise to shut up."

"I'll be as quiet as a... as a um...." Shu tried to think of something that he could compare to him being quiet, but the thought just eluded him. Shrugging, he gave up after several seconds. "Well, I'll be quiet." Pulling the covers back, he slipped under them and cuddled his head against the pillow. He was laying so he was facing Eiri, and now he was looking up at him, giving a sort of 'cuddle with me' look.

Eiri raised an eyebrow, "I thought you were going to sleep?" Shuichi was being extremely needy tonight. Eiri wouldn't admit to it, but Shuichi did look cute right now. Those sparkling violets did possess the lost puppy dog look to them.

"A-ah... s-sorry..." Shu looked away again, his eyes closing now. Nuzzling his head against the pillow again, he pulled the covers up a little more and tried his best to fall asleep. Even with Eiri right next to him, it didn't seem to be working all that well. Maybe he'd never be able to sleep again. Or maybe he'd be awake until his body just finally couldn't take anymore and he just collapsed or something...

Looking at the clock, Eiri watched time pass by slowly. He watched the sleeping Shuichi a little while longer before shutting the lamp off. Laying down and pulling the covers over himself, he laid on his side. Eiri wasn't planning to sleep tonight, not until Shuichi was about to wake up anyway. He was going to leave when dawn approached. Pulling Shuichi close to him, he wrapped his arms around his slender frame, burying his face in Shuichi's hair. Even though it was an ugly mess, it still smelled sweet- like Eiri always remembered.

For the longest time, it felt like he was never going to be able to sleep. But after a while, he felt Eiri moving around on the bed. Hearing the lamp click off, he frowned a little, thinking that Eiri was going to leave. But when he felt the bed sinking slightly under the added weight, his eyes opened just a little. That's when he felt Eiri's arms around him. Smiling to himself, he cuddled close and closed his eyes once more. This is what was missing. This is what he needed. Shu found himself thinking now, one simple thought before he finally felt the sleep over power him. Don't leave...

Eiri heard Shuichi's voice in his mind, clear as day. He wasn't intending on leaving, he never was. This was where Shuichi belonged and ultimately where he belonged as well. Everything seemed to click in this moment- even if it wouldn't last forever. Perhaps Eiri was too hard on Shuichi. He couldn't help it, he wanted to protect him and keep him safe. He never wanted another incident to occur. Sometimes he thought it was better for him to carry the burden rather than Shuichi who had in a sense done nothing wrong- to a point. Shuichi was home now, and that was all that mattered.
