(no subject)

Who: Yuuko Ichihara and Haruhi Fujioka
Where: Yuuko's room.
When: Nov. 4th
Rating: Pg-13 (only for the mention of Batman 66)
Summary: Haru needs a bit of information and the mansion isn't giving it to her in books. She decides to go to the person who posted something about what she was looking for. (Lots of introspection)

She really wasn't sure where else to look. The library had given her no information on either hauntings or living houses. Haruhi had to admit that she didn't really believe in this sort of thing. However, the proof of the matter seemed to contradict her better judgment.

Whether she believed it or not they were all stuck inside a mansion that seemed to cause issues for them all. Not only did it know their inner mind, but it knew their worst fears as well. She remembered back to the first time the mansion had altered their state of being. It had changed her basic genetic structure, sempai's as well. She hadn't been sure what to do, then as her legs had changed into a tail and she was slowly suffocating in the hall. She was fairly sure she would have died there had it not been for sempai.

The next event had broken into their minds. She remembered feeling as if she were re-living the day that her mother had died. She'd felt cold, as if she were a child again. She'd felt, almost physically, the sensation of standing with her father. Her emotions were still fresh. Now she knew there had to be a way out of this place.

The house itself was starting to warp Tamaki's mind. He'd come to some sort of decision that he was in love with her, she wasn't sure she was ready to deal with that. She respected him, she had established that quite some time ago; and she wouldn't deny that there was a more selfish part of her that disliked it when Mei-chan had kept her from him, but was it him or was it them? That was the part of things that she couldn't seem to figure out in the end. She loved the Host Club. She loved the friends that she had made there, but she didn't really think that she had fallen in love with Tamaki personally.

Tamaki, as a person was annoying. He had an overdeveloped sense of nobility that tended to cause feelings of a need to make everyone happy. It wasn't really wrong per se, but she wasn't sure if she really wanted to deal with it in someone she was dating. Besides, how could she really think of dating someone, seriously, who was in such a high ranking class structure. It wasn't something she really thought about, but when you broke things down to their basic components, if they were ever to find a way out of here Tamaki would be engaged to someone of the same class and status. Not only that, but his relationship with his grandmother was already on rocky ground. She didn't want to cause more of an issue.

The more she walked, the more she thought about the situation with Tamaki. There were more reasons to leave things as they were then to attempt to advance them in any sort of way. Before she even had the chance to finish thinking however, she found herself in front of a mahogany colored wooden door. It was thicker then most, but she supposed everyone changed the different aspects of their rooms around. What confused her was her compulsion to open the door. She wasn't one to be curious.

As the young girl pushed the door open she was greeted by the scent of lavender and sweet grass. Yuuko had decided upon it and todays choice of living arrangements in her disagreement with the cold. She did miss the warm days of summer, just before the rainy season. She also missed her creations, home, and Watanuke. She would never admit to such a thing, but over their time together she had grown accustomed to having the boy around. He, and his dourer companion Domeki were always good for, in the least a great amusement. Besides, watching the boy begin to grow and unfold, to transform, had come at a great delight to her.

For the first time in quite some time what she had to do had come at a great joy. Though she would scarcely admit it to the child.

She relaxed along the Victorian couch that rested against the wall to the left of her wardrobe. She was reading a modern American comic, 'Batman'. It was an earlier issue, dealing with something termed 'Batman's greatest boner' or issue 66. Red eyes cast up from a page of Joker insisting that 'he'll show them!'. She looked to the dark haired girl who, she had to admit, look quite remarkably like a boy. Closing the issue she placed it on the table by the couch, standing gracefully in her straight pants and sweater she crossed over to her.

“Your name?” She asked simply. She already knew it from the journals, but this would be an interesting girl to discover what she wanted. She was one of the few whom Yuuko had thought would not be in need of her services. She was surprised to find that she seemed to be wrong.

Haruhi closed the door lightly as she walked the rest of the way inside. She looked to the woman who her sempai seemed to fear without any sort of indication of fear on her face. Yuuko seemed to be a normal, if extravagant woman. Haruhi had become accustomed to such people after going to Ouran for as long as she had and being friends with the Host Club. They were all extravagant and weird.

“Haruhi Fujioka.” She said simply before continuing. It was best to get things out before things became complicated. “I saw your post on Halloween and-”

She was cut off by a raised finger. “You're here about that?” The woman asked with a raised brow. Hmm, it would seem the young girl was not in need of that kind of assistance. She would figure things out on her own. She needn't know the girl's past. Everyone here wore such things like a badge of honor, or a purple heart. Though, it was interesting that the girl seemed so guarded. She had to wonder what the girl was hiding from, or hiding inside. She seemed such a strong creature, but all humans were really quite delicate, like wings of a butterfly they could be ripped and broken with only a strong gust of wind.

It was no matter at the moment. The girl had come about her post, perhaps someone had taken time to realize what she had meant. She gestured for Haruhi to have a seat and the girl obligingly sat. Her legs drawn together out of Host Club habit and her hands sitting in her lap. Yuuko sat as well. “Now, ask what you wish to ask, though I warn you, I am rather board and everything comes at a price.”

Haruhi's brown eyes watched Yuuko's red for a few moments before she spoke again. “The information you wrote about the house Rose Red. Is that fact?” Her voice was still without tremble, simply questioning monotone. Her usual working speech. Yuuko nodded simply, there was no need for words here. “Then the house was a, living house? In a sense.”

Yuuko nodded again. “Rose Red was a house that consumed the souls of those who occupied it. It was, in a sense, a psychic vampire.” She explained. “The owner of the house, Ellen Rimbauer had been through quite a bit before setting foot into the house. In fact, the house itself seemed to have been through quite a bit before meeting it's companion. It has been said that Rose Red was conceived in blood, and it's companion bathed in lust. From the moment construction started on Rose Red, accidents started happening.” She paused, allowing the girl to let the information sink in.

Haruhi listened intently, taking mental notes on the house and comparing it to the state they were in already. It sounded slightly similar.

“In the first year of construction there were three deaths, the house had also grown in size, seemingly on it's own.”

Haruhi found this story a bit hard to believe, but could also see the parallels between it and the situation that they were currently in. It was hard for her to put trust in spooky tales of haunted houses, but really, what choice did she have.

“Twenty-three people have disappeared inside of Rose Red'. Five men and eighteen women. As far as is known, the last recorded disappearance in Rose Red was Liza Albert, a woman on a Historical tour. She was with the group when they went upstairs, but after the tour was over and the group recommenced, they found that she was not with them anymore. A police investigation did not find her, but they did find her purse, bloody and ripped. After that event, no one entered Rose Red again.” Yuuko finished the story, knowing that what she had said could almost give the girl a clue as to what was happening with the house. This was not Rose Red however. Haruhi would have to work quite a bit harder to find the answers that she sought, and the mansion would not assist her.

Haruhi sat for a few moments, thinking about the story that she had been told. It sounded like something that would be told to a child to scare them on Halloween. She really didn't believe it, nor did she want to. The only issue was that if she were to use any of it in order to leave the house alive, she would have to believe it. “Has anyone ever left Rose Red?” She asked finally.

“A small group of people.” Yuuko admitted. “But their escape is not one that will assist you with your own.” She admitted. She stood, crossing over to the cabinet which contained the spirits and opened it, removing the rice wine and a small saucer. She poured the wine into the saucer and took a small sip, watching the young girl as she started to stand.

“Thank you for your time.” Haruhi said, calmly standing. She gave a slight bow to the woman before she left the room. She would have to think about this information before she did anything with it. It did give her a stating off point, something to think about when she was planning an escape, or at least something to help her understand the situation that they were in.
