[event log CLOSED] sharpest teeth on the block
Who: D'Artagnan and Susan, Daryl, Crowley, Clara and Claire
Where: around the mansion!
When: the second and third days of the event
Rating: M FOR MATURE
Summary: D'Artagnan can also definitely handle this. (Only marginally better than Annie)
The Story:
The first day hadn't been difficult. It was filled with incessant howling and trying to keep Faraday from running into the woods. He'd finally managed to get her holed up in the room to keep her safe, and made his way around the mansion. The end of the day was spent defending and helping Chell as she set up traps for the impending attackers. (Wolves? Or hounds, perhaps. D'Artagnan wasn't sure, but the howling was unsettling enough that he wasn't sure he wanted to know either way.)
He went to bed that night with his doors and windows barricaded securely, hoping it was enough to keep them out.

[She shrugs, turning to glance down the hall as she swears she hears something approaching. Afraid, she reaches over to grab hold of his wrist, and moves to stand halfway behind him. As indestructible as she is, she still hasn't really figured out how to get past being afraid of things like this. ]
We should head downstairs. Like now.
no subject
Are you all right?
[And of course, it's then that the growling starts.]
no subject
Which, of course, given their location, just topples them both down the stairs. Which is probably a good thing, because they both were really close to losing their faces at the claws of a hellhound.]

When they do come to a stop at the next floor landing, D'Artagnan's lost his hold on both her and the sword. He's also closed his eyes at some point, so he doesn't open them in the hopes that the slick substance under his right hand isn't blood. ]
Claire?
[His eyes finally open to see the ceiling, and he lifts his hand, gagging when it comes back red. He scrambles over to look at her, praying he hasn't just killed her accidentally.]

Oh.
This is awkward.
She's not sure if she should pretend she's really hurt and let him get her to the clinic, or just pull it out herself. Her hand shaking, she reaches up to touch the hilt of the sword. She grimaces, whining in annoyance as she pulls it out and tosses it to the side.
And then she just lays there because oh my god this is about to get really awkward.]
I'm okay. Really! It just...it scratched me a little, that's all.
no subject
He's taken down much larger men with much less than that.]
Are you-- It-- It scratched you?
[She doesn't really expect him to believe that, does she?]
You just pulled it out of your stomach! Wh- What??

[She sounds entirely defensive, and can't help but let some fear leak into her voice. She's paranoid about what people will do or think about her, especially ones that are back from D'Artagnan's time. He's probably going to try setting her on fire now.
So out of fear, she sits up and begins scooting back and away, until she's pressed up against a nearby wall.]
I'm fine, I swear.
no subject
And is probably slowly bleeding to death.]
You're not! Your-- your blood is everywhere-- [He scrambles forward, forgoing propriety to put a (bloody) hand on her knee.]
Let me see. I can get you to the clinic, it's not far--
no subject
[She gently slaps at his hand, but then retracts acting like a cornered animal and grabs hold of his hand instead. She doesn't mind the blood.]
I'll be fine, okay? Just -
[She moves to lift up her shirt, so she can see the area where there was a wound just a few moments ago. There's blood covering the area, but there's not a mark on her skin. She looks completely miserable as she does it, but knows that he'll have to see.]
Look.
no subject
What are you--
[She lifts her shirt and his voice dies in his throat. Completely clear. Blood everywhere, but skin healed. What? He looks to her face, his own features twisted in confusion.]
What?
no subject
I'm human, I promise.
[She swallows, licking a little at her lips. Her mouth feels really dry all of a sudden.]
I just heal. It's a thing I do. And it kind of sucks.
no subject
[Okay, it's okay. He can deal with this. He can totally, totally deal with this.]
You're incapable of dying?
no subject
[She's really reluctant to get into the technical details of it, because she's not even sure about all the details of how her power works. All she's worried about right now is a new friend thinking she's a freak or a monster.]
You aren't...freaked out or anything, are you?
[Because he's taking this a lot better than she thought someone from his time would.]
no subject
[No, Claire, he's very, very freaked out, but he can tell that his freaking out wouldn't help her at all. So, he squashes it down. Repression, a man's best friend.]
No, no it's-- a bit of an adjustment but I suppose-- it's not the strangest thing I've encountered.
no subject
[She says this in disbelief, and blinks a little. She pushes at the area on her stomach that's just healed, and then drops her shirt to cover it. No point in his having to see that any longer than necessary.]
What is the weirdest thing you've ever encountered? Just so I know the boundaries of what I can and can't do to freak you out.
no subject
Let's see....giant, flying airships. People who are consumed by black smoke and turn into monsters and then kill you. I suppose your healing's not too out of place here.
