The Story:

Elsword practising his swordplay in the courtyard was hardly an unusual sight. He was diligent about his training, if nothing else, though he'd long fallen out of the habit of waking up bright and early for it. Balance became an issue once he started studying magic. With only so many hours in the day to work with, he had to dedicate more time to the thing he needed more help with. He still kept to his routine as best he could, of course, though the hour got pushed ahead by quite a bit as the years went on.

But lately, his mornings were much earlier, and his training sessions longer. The practised motions had changed as well, more precise and controlled, with both hands gripping the hilt rather than one free for casting runes. He wore heavy armour everywhere instead of that array of leather and belts that could barely be called clothing at all. The expression he wore was harder as well, more reserved, and far from his old cheeriness. Before it was hard to get him to shut up—now you'd be hard pressed to get him to start a conversation at all.

He kept to himself for the event, mostly, though it wasn't hard to find him if you looked.

[On the other hand, Harry practicing his spellwork was an uncommon sight; it wasn't that he didn't care. He knew that improvement was important, but also, he could hear Hermione's voice in his head, saying something along the lines of, "If you don't practice, Harry, you'll grow stagnant as a slug!" Maybe not in those exact words, but pretty close.

So there he was, going over some basic charms and hexes, mostly to keep himself occupied. To someone who didn't know Harry, this might not seem out of the ordinary, but on a normal uneventful day, he wasn't given over to practicing spells for long stretches of time. He kept glancing over his shoulder, though, as if he was afraid that someone would spot him doing magic. And on the third time that he happened to glance behind him, that's when he spotted Elsword with his weapon.

Hastily sticking his wand away, he turned around and watched him go through his paces before clearing his throat.]

Um, hi.

[Yes, only the best social skills being used here.]

Er, no, you're not. Sorry, I was just watching. You're really good at that.

Lin was no social creature, though that did not mean he was averse to interacting when his interest was piqued. The man who rose early to practice his swordplay was one of those things that interested him. Thus, on the fourth day, he exited the mansion in that direction with a hand resting on the sheath of his sword, for the man's zeal in his craft had given Lin the inclination.

"You come here every morning for your training," he said, approaching at a moment he thought opportune. "Why?"

"Surely, there must be a reason why you mustn't risk faltering in your skill," he replied neutrally. He bowed his head in bored distaste. "Or is it purely out of interest in the art of the sword? Such a common reason. You wonder if it even is a reason now."

At the least, he could not bring himself to appreciate an incentive so pointless.

"Obviously" was not the word Lin would have used, seeing as the term was not what the people of his parts used. The most he revealed of this was through the slight dip of his head.

"Is she here?" he asked, though he already had little to no interest in the woman. It was a logical train of thought to ask at her mention, if only to dig further into the overall subject matter. Not that he was a fan of exhausting idle chatter.
