Elphie and Luxord [ complete ]
Who // Elphie and Luxord
Where // Chapel
When // During the ball
Summary // She rescues him, a lot of apologizing, and some cute stuff in there.
Rating // Most likely PG
Elphie was finishing doing her hair for the ball. Her gown fit nicely and didn't make her look frumpy. She actually looked quite dazzling this evening. Who knew the girl who loathed social gatherings and dazzling clothes would look so stunning?
She she stared at herself in the mirror for a moment and wondered where Ritsuka was. She sat down at her desk and logged on her computer, checking to see if Ritsuka has made a post or something. Perhaps the boy has fallen ill. She partially hoped this wasn't the case. She found herself actually looking forward to the ball.
As she waited for her computer to load, she stared off, wishing that he could be on her arm. She was a bit miffed that no one had said anything about Celine and Xigbar, but who was she to point fingers. She hoped Celine was happy. If she couldn't be, Celine may as well.
The screen loaded and she glanced at it. Luxord? Alive? In the chapel? She was just there yesterday with Ritsuka and she hadn't seen any signs of him. After a few messages to each other, she hurried out her room and toward the chapel.

And possibly dying a fourth time, he suspects.
There wasn’t much he could do except wait for her, though he tried to tidy up his appearance a little – his coat was almost ripped to shreds, some of the wounds he had sustained from his 'murder' showing through, and he didn’t want to worry her more than he already had. Not if he could avoid it.

Maybe.
She glanced at the statue. It still held her hat in its palm. She went up to it and reached out, however something white in the corner of her eye startled her. She turned and seen Luxord, in shambles, laying against the wall.
"Luxord!" she cried, kneeling beside him. She was almost afraid to touch him. He looked so broken, so battered... So... dead.
no subject
Luxord just hoped that he didn't look too terrible; she was probably the only person, save Xemnas and Sora, to have seen him at his worst, and it was a bit of a worry.

He was silent for a bit, thinking before replying, "Well... I'd appreciate some help getting up?" Luxord didn't trust his ankle, but he had to get up some time.
no subject
She nodded, standing up and bending over to help him up. "What happened?" she couldn't help but ask. Helping him stand, she wrapped his arm around her neck.
"Think you can make it to your room? Or do you want to sit here?" she nodded to a pew bathed in rainbow moonlight. The stained glass made the room look even older than it may have been.

Gingerly, he got up as best he could, putting as little pain on his injured ankle as possible. Yep, definitely broken. The question came as a surprise, but she deserved to know the truth, gruesome as it was. "I think... someone murdered me," he said in a voice so quiet she might not have heard him. It wasn't something he was proud of; letting someone catch him unawares like that.
"I can probably make it to my room... either way, I don't mind, but I'd prefer wherever we go to not be here..." All it would do was remind him of his stupid mistake, of his third death, and he didn't particularly want that. It was then that he noticed her attire, and he gave her a small smile. "Planning to go to the ball, were you? You look... stunning."
no subject
"Put as much weight on me as you can... We can make it to either room. Though I think mine may be closer," she said, almost immediately biting her tongue.
"Murder you? Why?" her mind raced. She did tell Lucien that the Organization was open game, should the harm her. But... She specifically told him not to hurt Luxord. Who would want to harm him?
"Do you know who it was?" she asked, as they slowly hobbled out the chapel.
no subject
Luxord didn't really want to do as she said; he was heavier than her, after all, so he cheated and only did so a little. "Alright. At this point in time, I don't mind... I just wanna sleep."
He didn't know the answer either. "Revenge for something, perhaps? To prove a point? I don't know who it was that... murdered me; if I knew, I'd hardly be wasting time getting better," he joked weakly, clinging precariously to her as he nearly lost his balance.
no subject
"I wouldn't let you die again, if I could help it." she said somberly. "You're more important than you give yourself credit for Luxord."
She bit her lip and looked up the stairs. "Can you make it up them?" she looked over at him, he looked exhausted. "My broom would be handy right now if I had it..." she mumbled, not really giving him much of a choice.
She thought a moment. She was supposed to be a witch. So, why couldn't she levitate him? Even if it were a few inches from the ground, that would help, right?
She held tight onto him, thinking over and over for him to float. Soon, he was an inch off the ground. Still holding him, she guided him up the steps.

The answer to her question, though he hadn't really had the chance to answer, would be a definite 'no'; judging by the pain all over his body it was entirely likely something else was broken. Obviously his murderer had thought it kind to kick him while he was down, or just mercilessly beat him to a pulp. He couldn't remember the details.
Luxord was still latched on to her arm, used to traveling in darkness but not only an inch off the ground. For such a small distance, it was comically unnerving to him. "I... apologise for being such a nuisance."
no subject
She sighed and led him toward her room. Once there, she kicked the door open wide enough for him to go through. She held her tongue, biting it so she wouldn't scream at him. He plainly had enough abuse, perhaps for a lifetime.
"No. You lay down and... rest." she said, helping him into the bed.

Ignoring the pain he felt doing so, Luxord removed the remains of his jacket - there was no point in keeping it any longer, at any rate. He wasn't sure where he was going to find another one, but it was the least of his worries.
"But sleeping's boring!" he tried not to whine, but still did as he was told. Sleep may be boring, but he could sure use it right now. "...what day is it?" he asked sleepily, snuggling down under the covers.
no subject
"Its Saturday." She said, smoothing some blood caked hair from his face. "I wish I could help you bathe, you're filthy..." she said quietly.
Shaking her head, she stood and put her hands on her hips. "You'd better rest. It'll do you some good... dear."
She was happy to have him back. This was a given. However, what she feared happened. She found him... dead? She couldn't help but feel sad. "I'm sorry Luxord..." she said, turning away and picking up his jacket, trying to keep busy.
no subject
"I am resting!" he protested, though he knew all too well she wanted him to sleep. He stretched a little, ignoring his limb's protest at the strain.
"You have nothing to apologise for. I'm the one that was stupid enough to get murdered." It was supposed to be a joke, to help cheer her up, but even he felt miserable about it. Or would've, if he were able.
no subject
"I can't help but think it's my fault. My involvement with you has caused so much trauma! Like you said, Nobodies are replaceable." she collapsed on her knees, holding her head in her hands.
"I didn't think they'd actually do it..." she said, trying to calm herself. "Its my fault..."
no subject
Luxord wanted to get up and reassure her, that it wasn't her fault, but he was sure his limbs would protest. Instead, he propped himself up on his elbows, and watched her. "I highly doubt it's your fault, Elphie. Like I said, people have wanted me dead for years."
He smiled a little. "Everyone has to die sometime. I guess I just pissed off the wrong person."
no subject
She turned her head. She couldn't stand to look at him like this. A mere fraction of the man she adored.
She sighed and stood up. Walking closer to him, she tried to smile. "I'm glad your back. No matter how unimportant you say you are."
no subject
He was sick of arguing about his own death, so he decided to change the subject. "How are the others, anyway? Vexen? Saix? Celine? You and Saix haven't gotten into a fight yet, have you?"
Luxord smiled sleepily, pulling the bedcovers more tightly around himself. "I'm glad to be back, too. I've... missed you."
no subject
"Vexen seems to be getting along better. He's still in bad shape too, but..." she just thought. Maybe it was an attack on the Organization. Vexen first, and now Luxord... Who knew who'd be next?
She was about to voice this thought, but considering that he wanted to change the subject, she continued with the "report."
"Celine and I have become quite good friends, since you've been gone. She's one of the ones that are..." she was about to say "our side", but she wasn't even sure if he was on her side...
"Saix and I made a truce until you were found. Snide remarks and such here and there, but no onslaught of insults and all. Xemnas and I are even getting along, if you'd believe that."
She noticed him close his eyes while she spoke. "Sleep well love..." she murmured, kissing his forehead softly. Who knew she would have to take care of him eventually? She thought it was a mere joke between the two.
She decided that once he fell asleep, she would slip down to the kitchen and bring back some food and drink. He must be famished.

Luxord was rather surprised to hear that the pair of them had become friends in his absence, but he didn't voice the thought aloud. "One of the ones that are what?" he asked sleepily, wondering if the woman had got herself into some sort of trouble while he'd been... well, dead.
If he'd not been so tired, he would've laughed at the idea of Xemnas and Elphie getting along. The idea seemed so absurd to him, but perhaps that was partially due to his lack of sleep and food in the past few days. Being dead'll do that to a person. "I'm glad neither of you have killed each otehr yet," he said drowsily, a faint smirk on his face.
He was simply too exhausted to ask anymore questions about the welfare of his... friends, so he would no doubt check on them himself when he had some of his strength back. "Thank you..." was the last thing he whispered to her before he relaxed completely, and promptly fell asleep.
Luxord owed her one, that was for sure.

She made sure he was tucked in tightly and sneaked out the room. She wondered what would be best for a man recovering his own death.
Either way, she let him sleep and would check on him again when she returned with food. She was determined to be at his side when he awoke.
