[OPEN] Tauriel enjoys platforming
Who: Tauriel and YOU (and Kili) Where: Anywhere you want, really
When: Feb 28 to March 3
Rating: Should stay PG
Summary: Tauriel elfs around until she gets stranded, feel free to come across her wherever your character happens to be
The Story:
Somehow, the fragmented state of Wonderland seemed almost fitting. Much more so than the illusion of peaceful complacency that it sometimes offered, Much so than the frightening way her room kept molding itself after her own wishes.
This, in a way, seemed more honest. It was all falling apart, just like they were. Memories slipping from helpless minds until the threads between them were too few to hold the ones that remained together and the fabric of the past unraveled. Tauriel didn't know that yet, of course. The fate that awaited her if she stayed for too long. If she could not find a way home. Who knew what might happen the day the realization came to her, that her mind was not a more reliable container for her precious recollections than a sieve. She was strong, but there were still things too difficult for her spirit to bear.
At the moment, however, her mind was set on more practical matters and her spirit quite safe. Finding supplies and locating a certain young dwarf were not matters that threatened to break it. At times, the challenge of finding ways to navigate between the floating fragments of Wonderland even brought a smile to her face in spite of the certain destruction that awaited her should her attempts fail. The thrill of danger held a certain kind of appeal that she could not deny.
[CLOSED TO KILI]
Eventually, however, there came a point when she simply could not find a way to navigate any further from the part of wonderland that she had landed on. She hoped that perhaps the floating islands might shift and thus drift closer to one another again, but for the moment she was stranded. She could last for quite some time without either food or water, but that did not necessarily mean that she wanted to, not to mention the fact that she was quite alone.
She was no stranger to long waits, or entertaining herself, but boredom was still a distinct possibility in this scenario.

He was examining the fragments floating freely around his own, trying to determine which one was closest for him to jump onto, when he approached the edge of his own and far below, spotted the familiar figure walking on top of a piece floating there.
"Tauriel!!" he shouted immediately as he knelt near the edge, not finding the height at all scary, though the fact that he could see nothing below her own island was slightly daunting. "Up here!"
no subject
"Kili! Are you unharmed?"
Immediately her mind started working furiously, trying to find ways to somehow get from the fragment she was on and up to the one he was calling to her from.
no subject
"I am alright! I was looking for you!!" He skimmed the area of her fragment just as well, spotting some trees that looked to have enough green to break his fall... and if all else failed, he could probably just cling to the branches before hitting the ground. "Wait-- stay there!"
no subject
If there was a note of worry in her voice she would hold that it was quite justified. There did not seem to be an overabundance of safe options to bridge the gap between them.
no subject
And with that, he jumped up to his feet and disappeared out of sight. He knew he had to give himself some balance if he wanted to reach the trees, so he took a few steps back before he broke into a run and jumped off the edge of his fragment.
It was a fall definitely higher than he thought it would be, enough to knock the air out of his lungs, but he did manage to reach the trees. Easily piercing through the foliage, he was then quick to reach out to try to hold onto a branch, and though his grip was not strong enough to stop his fall entirely, it was sufficient to slow him down so that he landed on the ground in his back, with a thud much softer than it could have been, and yet still drawing a pained groan out of him.
no subject
But he was out of sight and she had the distinct feeling that he wouldn't have listened anyway. He could probably still hear her after all and that quite visibly made no difference whatsoever since only moments after he was out of her line of sight he came back into it.
With a flying leap.
Before he even landed she was already heading toward the tree she could see that he was aiming for, and she reached it just in time to have Kili land more or less right in front of her feet.
She stepped back enough to have room enough to fall to her knees and then she did just that, unsure if she wanted to see if he'd been hurt or make sure that he was by giving him a good slap.
"Are you all right?"
no subject
"Yes!" He huffed breathlessly, making an effort to look down at himself before he added jokingly. Because obviously this was the perfect time for jokes. "And still in one piece!"
no subject
She wasn't sure what to do with her concern, so she turned it into scolding, glaring daggers at the grinning dwarf even though she knew she might have been just as reckless herself had their positions been reversed.
no subject
"What else was I supposed to do? I wasn't going to just let you be here on your own." He presented plainly, as if that was all the reason he needed to do what he just did. Which it was, of course.

Welcome to the tea room. :T Now get out.
Which is why he was in a right mood, finding himself in a part of a tea room, just a bit too far from any other piece of the mansion for him to feel it was worth the jump. There would be food and drink, at least, as some poor unfortunate souls had found themselves without, and plenty of room for pacing to work off the nervous energy he usually got rid of with long walks around the mansion and on the shore of the sea, but it was going to be a dull few days, stuck out on his own with only the damned communicator for entertainment.
(As of yet, he was unaware if he could actually do anything with it beyond being bothered.)
But right then, however, he was perched on the couch he'd had the good fortune to be stuck with, elbow on his knee and that leg jiggling furiously in an unconscious display of boredom and pent up energy. He'd had plenty of tea, thank you, and the network was of no help outside of the prospect for real food and some fool dropping in unwanted and unannounced. And as it was, as far as he could see, there was no one close by, either.
Not that, of course, he was remotely in the mood to play nice.
I got so excited when I got this tag, sorry about the hideous delay
He might be in need of aid after all.
While perhaps not always the most outgoing of people, nor at all times the friendliest, Tauriel was still very much concerned with doing what she thought to be right, and leaving someone stranded on a floating little island if they were injured or would starve simply would not sit right with her.
Hence she dropped down from above, which would be why Hector had not seen her before, landing as gracefully and silently as a cat though her crouched position might still have hinted that it had been quite the fall.
if you're hideously late then i'm...whatever's worse.
Which, as everyone was sure to know at that point, was not a thing he was necessarily good at, if there was nothing in it for him.
But whether he should have been surprised at bodies falling from the pieces floating above or not, as it was, her arrival only stilled the jittering of his leg and got him to lift his head from where his chin rested in the palm of his head, albeit a bit slowly and with a great sense of disinterest.
"And I certainly hope you can make that leap back up on your own, as well, as I've no way nor intention of giving boosts."
eh, let's just both be fabulous instead
"There was nothing of particular interest up there, and there are other fragments close by that would be easy enough to reach."
That would be a somewhat fancy way of saying 'don't worry old man, if you don't want me here I can leave'.
The old-timey sass-off was a go.
Agreed.
But his eyes narrowed slightly at the snide little comment, because honestly, it wasn't like he didn't get the gist. And if he very well had his way about things, he wouldn't be stuck on this hunk of the mansion, either, with so much to do (read, anything but get stuck in a tea room). And while, no, Hector was perfectly (and beyond perfectly) capable of keeping himself company without some mansion moron or another nattering away at him over something stupid...
Well. They were trying to be on their best behavior, weren't they? They were. And as hard as it was, he managed to swallow back all of the snappy retorts that came to mind before taking a deep breath.
Charm. Politeness. Diplomacy. He could do these things. It wasn't the first time and it wouldn't be the last.
"You'll have to forgive me, as it seems this place be just cruel and spiteful enough to make sure I stay put."
no subject
"So I see. Is it your wish to find a way to get to another fragment?"
She isn't sure how helpful she could be, but perhaps something could be thought of if she put her mind to it.
no subject
And that was true enough, as well, despite being jittery at being trapped in so small an area. Having to put up with the others? That was a negative. A great big one.
"And elseways, all the whining is for naught, all the way around, on everyone's part. This'll be over, soon enough, just as all the others are."
no subject
Tauriel had not been in Wonderland for long enough have gotten even remotely close to being accustomed to the odd ways in which the place functioned.
"Much as navigating between these fragments is an interesting challenge in some ways, I expect it will grow rather tiresome before long."
She took a couple of somewhat hesitant steps closer to Hector, since they appeared to be entering into a conversation of some sorts, though it seemed to involve acting as if said conversation was in no way a desirable thing.
Feb 28th!
Adam's portion of his floor had functional closets, which meant he didn't have to leave, but truth be told it wasn't so isolated that jumping across other land masses was possible. However, Adam wasn't all that keen on testing his luck on the first day--that said, he wasn't above experimenting where he was.
By midday, Adam could be found standing at the lip of his portion of Wonderland, throwing crap over the edge to see what it would do. His random item of choice? Softballs, for the most part, easy to throw out as far as he was able, though in the beginning he'd dropped a few rocks. Thing was, the ground below was a bit too far down to listen to a rock hit like someone throwing a pebble down a well. Way too far. Insanely far, actually.
He was almost curious to know how long it'd take for something to hit the ground. Ten seconds? Twenty seconds? More?
one day I swear I will get back my ability to tag at a reasonable speed
"Why are you doing that?"
I think this a lot... LMAO. <3
Forget how she'd gotten there for a moment, was she even a person? Her sharp features and pointy ears got his attention right off the bat. Those were really some ears.
"Where did you come from?" It was fair to answer a question with a question when he was confident he'd been alone two seconds ago. Only when he started to answer himself did Adam seriously wonder why he felt like he'd met her before when he knew he hadn't seen someone who looked like an extra tall version of one of Santa's elves.
Her height and the fall of her clothes reminded him of something... the look of metal and the inhuman way metal parts moved.
A look of dawning recognition crossed his face. "I know you, don't I?" he asked. For a simple question, there was a fair amount of uncertainty and apprehension there.
No way.
same here, maybe at some point thinking it will actually make it happen... <333
"I know your voice, but not your face."
Her memory was good, but when she could not match his face to any that she had seen it was very difficult to figure out when she'd heard his voice before. But she was still certain that she had.
It was a little unnerving, and she could not help but wonder if it was because of some trick this place had played on her. It did affect memory, so it was not so difficult to imagine. Had wonderland... eaten her memory of this boy?
One daaaay....
"I think... we met." Reluctance marred his tone. Looking her in the face and refraining from asking the obvious question was hard enough without forcing himself to say the other thing, which was that they'd been translated into the Tin Man from Oz at one point.
They were trading in one ridiculous scenario for another.
"Sort of. There was more clanging and suits of armor involved."
no subject
And then the pieces clicked into place with one another in her mind. Not a lost memory, he'd just not worn this face when she met him last.
"So this is... how you actually look?"
It was a valid question, she thought. Who knew what tricks Wonderland was getting up to besides falling apart?
no subject
Adam couldn't help finding it a tad ironic that she was the one asking him if he normally looked like this when she more or less looked like something out of a novel. Was she a little disappointed, maybe? Expecting something more than a regular human guy? Adam didn't know what he would have expected to see if he'd ever met the woman in the suit of armor again, but not this.
He had a hard time not staring when the only other thing to look at was off the side of the floating island. "Uh huh... " His answer was slow, drawling. Hesitant on how to find the words. "And this is you, huh?"
He shouldn't ask, he really shouldn't, but he couldn't see how he could avoid it.
"You're... not like other people, are you."
Human, in other words.
no subject
Of course she wasn't like other people, she was herself and no other.
To her mind, being human was not some sort of default setting, and so Adam's question rather went over her head, though she did take from his staring that he had most likely never seen an elf before.
