Aramis was drawn to the carnival by the bright lights and music, but walking around, he thought, for a moment, that he saw Rochefort from the corner of his eye. He shook it off, but then, in a different area of the carnival, he thought he saw him again. He turned to look and, in that moment, bumped into a rather attractive woman.

"I'm so sorry," he told her, reaching for her shoulders to steady her. "I beg your pardon."

Lilith was rather surprised to be taken unawares by anyone, especially a mortal. But the looming fear of Lucifer at her heels was making her distracted and anxious. This was how mistakes were made and she couldn't afford it in this place, not with so many of her enemies about.

She turned, looking over the attractive man with a careful and discerning eye. He was athletic, that was clear. Mortal, and rather handsome. But overall, not someone that she should be instantly worried about.

"It's my fault." She said with a smile, always more charming around the opposite sex. "I should have watched where I was going."

"As should I have," he pointed out. There's a slightly self-deprecating smile as he added "I thought I saw something. Must be the lights."

"You as well?" Lilith asked, seeing Lucifer out the corner of her eye once more. "Someone you are not fond of?" She questioned him, curious if it was a coincidence or there was something more.

His eyes narrowed slightly. "A rival. From home."

[first_demon]

So it was something caused by Wonderland. That was a comfort at least. It meant that none of it was real. It was an illusion. "It is the same for me." She said.

That relaxed him, too, slightly. "Oh." He glanced around with a wry smile. "I thought this whole carnival idea a little too innocuous to be true," he conceded.

"Did you?" Lilith asked, her eyes roaming over him slowly. "You seem capable of taking care of yourself at least." She grinned. "You have the appearance of an athletic man."

"I know how to fight," he told her, feeling quite free to look her over as well, considering the scope of her gaze. "I'm a Musketeer for the King of France."

[first_demon]

She stepped closer, licking her lips temptingly. "Were you? So then you are a protector to those in need? You were a guard to royalty?"

A smile. "I protected the king. Though I suppose you could say he was in need of it." A slight quirk of his eyebrow. "Is there anything you're in need of?"

[first_demon]

"I am not so threatened...not yet." Lilith said with a small shrug. "But there is danger for me. My enemies surround me here, already they have made it clear they will destroy me. I am nothing but a poor woman and they fear me, for I have power."

"What sort of power?" It's fairly clear he finds the idea alluring rather than frightening.

[first_demon]

"I am the first of my kind. The one who cam before Eve and Adam, just after Lucifer's fall. He created me once I fled the Garden." Lilith said, batting her eyes. "I am the first demon."

He raised an eyebrow slightly. That was intriguing.

"You don't look the way I was taught to imagine demons." A pause. "Unless you ask a friend of mine, I suppose, but he had a bad experience."

[first_demon]

She grinned, unable to resist the flirtatious lilt to her voice. "And how do I look to you?"

There's a hint of a smile as he replies "More like an angel."

[first_demon]

She's flattered and places a kiss on his cheek. "I had heard the French were charming. Now I see it is true."

[not_apriest]

"And do you like that in a man? Charm?" he asks.

[first_demon]

"I am very fond of charm. It makes everything all the more interesting. I am also fond of talent."

[not_apriest]

"It's been suggested that I have some...talents."

[first_demon]

"Yes, I suspect you do. Perhaps a display is in order?"

[not_apriest]

"If you're agreeable, I'd invite you somewhere with a little more privacy. Knowing it's a trick, I suddenly don't feel the need to investigate this carnival anymore." He offers her his hand.

[first_demon]

She takes his hand, more than eager to have a bit of privacy. Being in a place with Lucifer's frequent image appearing in the corner of her eye.

"Where should we go?"

A smile. "I have a room. I think I even have a bottle of wine." A bit of a dryer smile. "I, at the very least, have a closet."
