one for the money
Who: Adam Milligan (
halfwinchester) and Krissy Chambers (
naturalbornleader), with cameo appearances by Dean Winchester (
ganking) and possibly others.
Where: Second floor diner to start.
When: March 24th, I guess?
Rating: PG-13 at the least.
Summary: After Adam and Krissy recover from a sex swap and de-aging event respectively, the two make the ultimate dumbass mistake of getting swapped with each other. After that, it's a matter of playing "guess who!" with everyone they've ever met.
The Story:
[As awkward as it is bumping into people who may or may not know who he is underneath the feminine features, Adam gets even more antsy pacing around alone in his room, waiting on the thin hope that his body will go back to normal on its own.
He has to do something, which leads him to making appearances in and around the mansion in his new body. He doesn't dare step foot in the other new areas, as a matter of course, because he really doesn't care to test his luck with more shit right about now, but he's hovering around the second floor asylum, wondering if there's anything important going on in there when it happens.
The change is sudden and barely noticeable; one minute he's small and female, the next he's... not.
Yes. Yes! Himself again.
His own face, and his own body, and his own clothes... Half an hour and one prolonged self-inspection in front of a mirror later, Adam's mood is as high as it's ever been. He's normal. If he's going to be in a body, it might as well be his.
Suddenly this day just got a thousand times better, broken nose and all.]

The urge to shout as much climbs in his throat, leaving him with an all too familiar sense of choking, choking on black emotions. He'd known Dean had returned from the man's network announcement, and he'd also known Dean doesn't seem to remember being in Wonderland before, but there's a reason he hadn't replied and made his presence known. There's a reason why Dean doesn't have a right to do this, why Krissy refusing to take a fucking hint makes him want to grab her by the hair and drag her away.
Him and the Winchesters had had a system before, and it'd worked most of the time. Sam and Dean didn't contact him on the network, he didn't contact them. They passed each other in the halls. They didn't talk. Dean could stop pretending so hard that he cared.
Now with Dean back, it's like Adam's right back in those early days again, head full of crazy, wanting to explode even worse than he does now, Dean feeding him crap about tough decisions when deep down they both know he's not sorry. One reunion had been bad enough without needing to see that hangdog look on Dean's face a second time.]
We were just talking about what Adam's vacation in Hell was like.
[He interrupts before anyone else can, deceptively cool. If the cat's coming out of the bag regarding how Dean and Adam know each other, it's coming out feral and with all claws at the ready.]
This is just my guess, but a little makeover is easier to deal with than being abandoned down there by you and Sam. [His gaze slides to Krissy's, but only for a moment.] But if you guys want to hug it out or something, I can give you a minute.

And Krissy feels like she's had the entire world yanked out from beneath her feet.
She closes her mouth with an audible snap that causes a spike of pain to reverberate through her aching nose then turns her head swiftly to look at the jerk wearing her face with a dumbstruck look.]
I-
[Right. Dean. Dean is still standing there, with absolutely no clue about what's going on. She looks back to the hunter with wide eyes.]
I- uh-
[And then what Adam has said, what he's just described, really hits her and suddenly the urge to speak is overridden by something far more important. Quickly she turns back to Adam and shuffles so she's standing between him and Dean. Then she pins him with a hard look and holds out a hand.]
Fork over my weapons. Now.

but then, there had been nothing they could do about him, either.
all of that's old pain to him though, only resurfacing at the sight of adam-- except right now it's not his half-brother who is being stared at, who dean looks at like he can't believe the words are tumbling from who he'd thought to be a friend. he stares at krissy, eyes wide and at a loss for words.
and unlike adam, he doesn't move an inch despite his brother stepping between himself and her. it's almost like he's protecting him, which just makes this all so much weirder.
but one thing at a time. ]
You what-- [ he's never discussed adam with anyone, really. not besides sam and death-- and after that. well, it had been the end of that chapter. so to hear it now, from krissy-- it leaves him reeling, almost.
his hand goes to adam's shoulder, and he's already pushing past him, eyes on krissy. ]
Hey, if you've got something to say, I'll listen-- but I'm pretty sure me and Adam gotta take a minute first.
[ to sort through everything that never got a chance to be said. after, he can hear the whole load of krissy's rant, if she's still feeling up to it. ]

Adam doesn't feel any victory at this win of his, however. Krissy is in the middle of the wrong fight, and Dean's still Dean. Truth be told, revenge has crossed his mind before, and although Krissy's probably thinking all sorts of off the wall things--he's a demon or something, or maybe even a guilty person who'd deserved Hell--she's not entirely wrong to think he's safe carrying around her loaded weapons. Dean probably deserves worse than getting shot in the face, honestly.
But someone else can make that their job. It's not his.
He smiles thinly at Krissy, mostly because her making demands with his voice is still ridiculous on more than one level.]
Nope. I'll do you one better. [He lifts his hands in a mocking gesture of placation. Sure, Dean's the one who needs protecting from him, of course.] I'm out. Take all the time you want; you can call me when you're done.
[Dean's offer makes his expression get a little colder and harder--if Dean even knew who he's really talking to, Jesus Christ--but whatever Krissy's relationship is to them, he's not about to stick his foot in it and find it out.]
Not a thing. You boys work it out.
[He turns to go.]

She looks first to Dean, eyes narrowed and frustration lacing her tone.]
Dean, you dweeb, I'm Krissy!
[As soon as the words leave her lips, she's moving past him to Adam. If there's one thing that she's actually okay with in this whole situation, it's suddenly being a whole lot taller than she is normally. It's something she takes advantage of now as she clamps a hand down on Adam's much smaller shoulder and quickly pulls the gun from his waistband. Holding it loosely in her free hand, she growls out a warning to him while letting him go.]
I'll be coming for my other gun and knife soon enough, you ass.
no subject
but before he can say anything, adam's turning to him with a frustrated look.
dean, you dweeb, i'm krissy!
he looks at his half-brother like the kid's hit his head, because that's impossible-- ]
You're-
[ yet everything that's been happening lately, all around the grounds, it all finally clicks into place. he hasn't gone through it himself, but he should have realized; body switch. it's fucked up, entirely impossible, yet apparently that's the theme for wonderland. and if that's the case, then that means.. dean turns back to krissy -- adam -- even if he's walking away. ]
Then you're-- Adam?
[ he's stepping after him again, this time more urgent. ]
no subject
While you're at it, how about you see yourself out of my ass.
[Adam's disdain doesn't look much different on Krissy's face than Krissy's regular brand of disdain. He's not in the mood for this crap, or getting the stink eye from his own face; he shakes her off, not any happier to have Dean on the prowl for whatever he thinks he's going to get now that he's clued into their circumstances. An awkward, body swap-flavored reunion that won't go any better than the first time, maybe.]
An eyebrow kicks up.]
You heard her, didn't you?
[Yes, it's him. Not the way he cares to run into one of his brothers, but then, he doesn't care to run into his brothers much at all unless they have something need-to-know to say.]
no subject
Because that's the thing. She knows Dean. She trusts him completely. So logically she knows he has a damn good reason for either sending Adam to Hell or leaving him Hell or whatever he's actually done.
But she also trusts her own gut, even more than she trusts Dean. And her gut tells her that Adam isn't deserving of Hell. So while she wants to instantly write him off as some sick, twisted human who got what was coming to him courtesy of a couple of bad-ass hunters, she can't. No, she's all but positive that whatever has happened to Adam, it isn't his fault. At least not entirely.
And that means she's basically just double-crossed a guy who might have been victimized in a pretty screwed up, epic way long before they ever even met.
Yeah. She's screwed up. Big time. And now all she can do is stand there, silently, because she doesn't think she can fix it and she isn't sure how to stop it either.]
no subject
needless to say, dean's fucked up real good.
there's a brief look at krissy -- she looks just about as torn as dean feels -- but then he's stepping closer to adam again, never mind that he's in the wrong body. ]
Okay, so clearly, we-- we gotta talk. [ the two of them. in private. about everything. ]
And I get that might not be what you want, but I'm askin' if we could. Please.
[ let him try and fix this. ]
no subject
He glances at Krissy first, who'd been decent enough to him in the library not to deserve to see him explode, then back to Dean.
He's badly tempted to say what he's thinking, that at least the guy's honest this time around, that what Adam might want here isn't as important as what Dean wants. Dean gets his victory, Dean gets his family. What Adam might feel isn't as important as Dean saying what he needs to say and giving himself closure for trashing someone in Hell. His expression doesn't budge, not an inch, wooden.]
You might not remember, but we talked.
[He doesn't get to live through a day without seeing Hell, and Dean doesn't get his talk.]
You heard her. [He nods his chin at her.] We've got other problems and I'm trying to take care of someone else's body here. How about you shelve it and help the person who wants it.
[They could save the half-assed apologies for a rainy day when Dean had nothing better to do than look after his half-brother, and when Adam had his own body back and could cut and run.]
