Summary: The drag pageant.
The Story: Whether you're there as a voluntary or involuntary contestant or as an audience member looking for a laugh, this is where threads for the drag contest go!

There will be three top-level threads to help keep things organized: one for the sign-up sheet (which characters will have access to all week); one for Tweedledum to ask questions of the contestants on stage; and a third for the audience. Give me a couple minutes to post them and then have at it! Please make sure to label threads open or closed. ♥

+ Sign-up Sheet +

The sign-up sheet for the drag pageant is posted on the Saturday on the first floor bulletin board of the main school building. Students may sign themselves up or sign up their friends (with or without their knowledge!). Unfortunately for the latter group, there are no take-backs on sign-ups.

+ On Stage +

The decorations are pretty gaudy: streamers and balloons hanging from the stage curtains and littering the stage itself. Tweedledum bounces around the stage with a mic, clad in a track suit, her hair in a messy ponytail. She's grinning, ready to introduce the contestants and ask each of them a few questions as they file out on stage.

+ The Audience +

Any students not participating in the pageant are welcome to mill around the auditorium floor. There are folding chairs set around the outer perimeter of the large room, but for the most part students are expected to stand for the duration of the pageant. At the back of the room, near the exits, are several tables with slips of paper, pencils, and ballot boxes; please only vote for one contestant!

It's time for revenge. Lily's not sure there are many people, if any, who are going to sign up for this willingly, but there's one student in particular that she's intent on seeing up on that stage. Checking over her shoulder just to ensure she's not being watched, she turns back to the sheet and writes in painfully neat, slanted script:

That'll bloody show him.

Several hours after Lily signs James up, he finally checks the list in the hopes that maybe she was just kidding and didn't sign him up because she's so kind, and mature, and - damn it, there's his name. And it's the only name, at the moment.

He has to do something about this. He can't take his name off the list, but he doesn't want to have to go through with this alone. And isn't it always better to seek forgiveness than ask permission? So he thinks carefully about who is most likely to forgive him if they discover he signed them up against their will, and comes up with someone immediately. He checks to make sure no one's coming, and then adds a name before fleeing the scene:

Crowley signs himself up. He has great calves and he knows it. Why shouldn't everyone else see that, too?

Maybe they'll also see what else he has that's great.

It's hard not to cry.

She doesn't know who did it. And the worst part is, it could be pretty much anyone. Friends who don't realize how sensitive she can be. Bullies who think this'll take her down a peg. People who might legitimately think she's a boy and she's not.

She's not.

To think she'd been looking to laugh at the boys. Now she feels guilty about that on top of everything else.

Throughout the week, Finnick comes and goes past the sign-up sheet for the drag pageant. He should follow his gut and make this pageant one to outlast them all. It'll go down in the yearbooks as the best Drag Pageant the school has ever seen, with two of its contestants being the best of the best, broad shouldered, handsome, and devilishly charming.

[ Guess who's right around to see you sign up, Crowley? Blake leans against the desk and crosses his arms. He's dropped a jacket for just the button-down with rolled up sleeves and his regular uniform pants. ]

And here I was just gonna sign you up myself and you beat me to it. Guess my work here's done. Unless...

[ Crowley smirks, giving Johnny one of the most obvious visual check-outs possible. ]

Well if you wanted to see me in a short skirt, all you had to do was ask.

[ Johnny rolls his eyes, but he's clearly amused. ]

Such a freak. If you wanna show off your ass cheeks, you don't need my permission. Make sure you wear some stockin's, yeah? Smooths things out.

[ This he says with a sort of explanatory gesture, his hand moving down his body in a somewhat mocking way. It's all in good fun, though, isn't it? ]

Oh, is that what you're after?

[ He moves closer, voice dropping as his smirk only grows. ]

Once he finds out he's been signed up, Haymitch spends several hours seething and cursing everything in the world that brought Finnick into his life or even into the world at all.

At least he's not the only one getting tortured here and he sees a few other surly-looking people around the area, but he also sees people excitedly signing themselves up and that just makes him angrier. Stupid clowns.

In a particularly heated moment of teenage angst and inner turmoil, he turns on his heal and kicks a folding chair hard enough to send it flying.

Of course, it almost hits someone, because that's his luck today.

Little pervert? [ He scoffs. ] Like you got room to talk. All I'm sayin' is that if you're lookin' to win this thing, you gotta step up you game. Or work somethin' else out.

I should add a warning on this thread for Crowley's usual sexualizing of everything

Oh, I already know what I am. [ He corners Blake against the table. ] I thought about offering oral sex for votes, but I wouldn't want to ruin my stockings. What do you think?

[ If he's perturbed by the move, Johnny doesn't show it. His hands rest on the tabletop to brace himself some, but it's more like he's submitting to taking a seat than being bullied by some kid like Crowley. ]

Pretty sure a-bit-torn-up's in style these days, but you're not gonna get the votes you need workin' the futures on somethin' like that. Unless you can deliver that kinda service in advance, who's gonna agree?

[ He leans in until his hands are on the table, almost closer enough to touch Blake's. ]

[ As he spares a glance at those intruding hands, Johnny leans back some and runs his tongue along the inside of his bottom lip. He's trying really hard not to laugh, thanks, though he has to admit this kid's got some balls. ]

You're full of shit, man. Up to your ears if you heard anyone volunteer for that.

[ Blake lifts a hand from the desk and snakes it between them until he reaches... his pocket. The jeans are a bit tight, but struggling with that doesn't seem to bother Johnny who expects it's making something of a scene for anyone looking on.

He wriggles a piece of paper back up until it's chest height and just between two two fingers. Half-crumpled, it's a copy of a ballot. ]

Got dozens.

[ Crowley watches Johnny's movements with interest. He can't say he doesn't find the older boy attractive. ]

Really?

[ He raises an eyebrow and then his eyes go towards the door. There's a bathroom right outside the auditorium and it doesn't get much use. They could be quick in the handicap stall. ]

Care to step into my office and talk business?

[johnnyblake]

If you gotta have an office to do business, I'm game. Just not sure location, location, location's gonna make the real diff'rence.

[ But he'll move when Crowley does, and follow the younger boy to talk. ]

[ Once they're moving, Crowley reaches back to grasp Blake's wrist and tugs him towards the bathroom. ]

It's not for looks, but it should be private enough.
