Elphie and Luxord; ongoing
Who: Luxord (
stackthedeck) and Elphie (
notfabala).
Where: Elphie's room.
When: Evening of the 17th-ish.
Rating: PG-13, to be safe.
Summary: There are a lot of questions, and Luxord intends to find some answers.
the Story:
The Nobody wasn't sure what had spurred him to ask Elphie if they could talk; they had only recently had their little 'misunderstanding,' and he was relatively sure he was the last person in the world she wanted to talk to at the moment. Nonetheless, the suspicions of his companions, coupled with Xemnas's current condition pushed him to want to find answers, to bring justice down upon whoever had done this to his Superior.
No one was happy about what had occured, and he wanted to make this murderer suffer as much as possible.
Firstly however, he planned to apologise for what had happened the other day, so that she wouldn't be so hesitant to answer his questions nor have a reason to slam the door in his face. And then possibly to get his boots back, since they hadn't seemed to be in the box she had left his belongings in that he'd found at the end of the hallway after their disagreement.
Standing outside the door to her room, Luxord couldn't briefly help but feel incredibly nostalgic -- before swallowing his hesitation and knocking sharply on the door.

She had finished cleaning off the mudcaked boots with a rag and some oil, so they had a nice sheen to them. She sighed and smoothed her hair into a low bun. She forced herself to not look so tired, all though she failed miserably. She hoped that her appearance didn't show many signs of distress.
She opened the door, trying to look as even and unemotional as possible. She tried to be Elphaba of Oz.
"Hello Luxord."
no subject
"Evening, Elphie," he replied smoothly, trying his best not to call her 'love' despite how much he was used to doing so. That would probably earn him a glare or two, and his nerves were frazzled enough without that adding to it.
"Obviously, I haven't called by for a nice cup of tea and a chit-chat -- there's something I need to discuss with you. Two somethings, actually."
no subject
She picked up the freshly polished boots. "I used them last night in the gardens. They got muddy from the rain, but... I polished them. Sabin gave me an umbrella, so you neednt worry... Though, why worry?" her voice lowered, almost saddened.
She stiffened and sat on the edge of the desk. She crossed her arms, and with a stony stare, she anticipated the second question. "I did not poison him. I have no reason to." she said simply, no sign of emotion. Seems like she hadn't lost herself after all.
no subject
Luxord looked a little surprised, and would've smiled at her comment, had he not been feeling about as happy as a wet weekend at current. The thought of her trying to wear his boots brought upon amusing images. "No need to worry, indeed. As long as they're still in good condition -- I can hardly go tramping around in my socks, now can I?" He shot her a worried glace, but quickly concealed it behind his usual poker face.
The gambler quickly bristled like an angry cat at the accusation. "I never said you did," he said pointedly, trying to keep a lid on his temper. "I simply needed to ask you something. About... a contract." He didn't dare mention his source of the contract information was from Sabin, as he didn't want to get the martial artist in any trouble. This was the Organization's concern, not his.
no subject
She looked at him intently, and let her stare fall. "The contract..." she mused. Considering she had only told one person, against her better judgement, but still one person nonetheless. "That was made when Saix threatened my life. And... frankly, yours as well." She straightened and matched his poker face. "No actions were to be made unless there was a threat on my life. Simple as that. None has been made, so none were taken."
She didn't intend on telling him about said contract, but she felt no need to lie. She wouldn't tell him who the contract was with, but... Lucien wouldn't really act against orders... would he?
no subject
...that was made when Saix threatened his and her life? Did that... did that mean that he'd fall next? The thought turned Luxord's blood cold, and for a few moments he was unable to piece together any words. "You... you put out a contract against Saix? And the Superior?" Not Saix. Over his dead body would he let anything happen to the man that had done nearly as much for him as Xemnas had. His friend. No, no, no. Unconciously, his hands balled up into fists, and he bit his lip again.
This... obviously wasn't good.
no subject
"No. No one in particular. It was rather vague actually. I told the person, should anyone try to harm me, to act first. I made specific requirements. Not to harm you or Vexen. As you two were ones I considered... friends." she looked down. "I told them not to act first."
She looked at him after some time. True sadness in her eyes, despite the attempts to hide it. "I've grown to like Xemnas. I am concerned about him, even when he insists on me not being so." She stood and looked out the window, her back turned to Luxord.
"If you three were harmed, who's next? Why? You lot don't hold that much power in this mansion, so why? What is to be gained? Whats the point? You'll come back to life. A vicious cycle, this life and death in the mansion... All pointless..." her voice faded as she reached up to the cold window pane, frost melting under her touch.
no subject
When she asked who would be harmed next Luxord didn't want to voice his opinion on the matter, and regardless of who was attacked next there would be severe hell to pay. "We're more important here than you think," he scoffed, not wanting to sound self-centered but knowing it to be somewhat true all the same.
Sighing, he shifted a little from his uncomfortable position against the doorframe, and answered her question. "To cause pain, and furthermore, to make a point."
no subject
"I... I had his word..." her voice was barely audible. She hadn't realized how gullible she had been, until now. Until this very moment. She thought she was doing something to protect herself, to protect ones she cared for. She thought that Lucien could be trusted. She knew that she didn't know this man, they barely conversed, they hardly ever even acknowledged each other.
Forboding chilled her body more than the frosty glass. She sunk down to her knees. Weakness. She felt the overwhelming disappointment overflow her.
Elphie didn't want to react this way. She didn't want to even give in. She reinforced herself to stay strong, deny everything, and play it cool. How could she? Lying wasn't who she was. She didn't feel like she had done anything wrong. She kept the contract because she knew Saix had a severe dislike for her. The rest of the organization either didn't bother with her, or seemed to enjoy her company, and she with them.
Silence filled the room. She stood after some time, and turned to face him. "Proving a point? And what point would that be? It seems odd that its only you lot getting attacked. It seems odd that one by one, you're getting knicked off, only once. What really seems odd is that there are some of you that vanished, some of you that aren't nearly as concerned as they should be, and maybe even a bit smug. What really seems strange and a bit unnerving is that, they chose you to talk to me."
She cocked her head, her eyes softened. "Or did you volunteer?"
no subject
He had to warn them. The Organization. Saix. Throw all bloody caution to the wind and consequences aside, he'd failed once... he wasn't going to risk it again. Somehow, he felt this was partially his fault. If he hadn't... if he didn't... the gambler tried not to play the victim, but he couldn't help but want to take some of the blame.
Luxord sighed, his shoulders slumping. "Why it's only the Organization getting offed? Hell if I should know. But take a look; it's a pattern, so someone's trying to tell us something. Vexen, then me, Xemnas, and now whoever else is unlucky enough to get caught in the crossfire -- someone's trying to tell us something." The gambler laughed at that. "Some of us have vanished, that's true, but plenty of others have left the mansion without a word nor reason. Smug? Tell me, who's smug? and about what?"
The last bit caught him slightly unawares, and he bowed his head a tiny little bit, avoiding her gaze. "I.. I volunteered. My first reason to come and talk to you was actually to apologise."
no subject
"Noone. I'm just saying, the is some of your kind that are here, and aren't in an uproar. You know who I mean, Luxord. I neednt say names." she sighed.
"Tell you what, though. Thats what I've been trying to tell you all. Your kingdom hearts doesn't exist here. None of our past lives matter here. We've all changed upon coming here..." Though she didn't know if the rest has, she knows she certainly has. "You may have been a force in your world, but here..." she cocked her head to the side, her eyes welling slightly, "Here you are... nobody."
"We have princess's, princes', writers, musicans, magikers, and such... High of power or no power at all.. We are all the same. Held here against our will. Don't you realize this Luxord? Doesn't anyone realize this but me?" She turned away, getting frustrated at her own lack of self control.
"I should apologize, not you. I spoke to Xaldin... and Sabin, extensively on the matter..." She let her hair down and scratched her scalp out of said frustration. "They both say I should open to you, and not expect anything. I should tell you exactly what I've told them..." She sat down, finally facing them. "I... I don't know if you'd want to hear it... now." her gaze fell onto the floor, her hands tightly clenched together in her lap.

Here he was Nobody. A Nobody. What irony that statement held, but he said nothing of it.
Luxord didn't feel like answering her power play theory -- he knew that they still had power, whether others were willing to accept the fact or not -- but when she mentioned Xaldin, she had his instant attention.
"You talked to Xaldin?" he asked curiously, wondering what the other Nobody had said to her. The others had made a point to only converse with her civily, or like Saix, not at all, but... Xaldin, hm?
His gaze softened, and Luxord watched her, wishing she'd meet his gaze. "Tell me," he murmured, folding his arms. "I want to know."
no subject
She nodded when he asked if she talked to Xaldin. She knew it would peque his interest, and that was partially why she said it.
"Xaldin was the one that said that one soul and one heart can complete each other. You have the soul I lack. I have the heart you lack. I have enough emotions for you and me. Maybe the entire Organization." she tried to smile, meeting his gaze briefly.
She cleared her throat. She told herself that she didn't need Luxord. She didn't want him. She could deal without those peircing blue eyes that she gets so immersed in. Yet, she couldn't stick by her word. She felt herself caving.
"He said that this space is whats best for us. Make us realize if we are happier apart or... together. Frankly Luxord. I enjoy you. I enjoy your presense." her voice lowered, almost inaudible. "I would take it back, I love you, if I could. It wouldn't change the emotion I feel. It would be unspoken on my behalf..." She bit her lip, her stomach lurching from time to time.
"I don't want to depend on you. You don't have any right to throw Fiyero in my face. For that, I could hate you. You don't know how he died, why he died... I never said I loved him." She looked up at him, her eyes pleading, yet rageful. "I know you can't love. I know you can't return what I feel. I don't expect you to. I... I just wanted you to know how... how much you mean to me..." her voice faded and her gaze dropped again.
no subject
Obviously, he needed to give III more credit.
"Enough emotions for the entire Organization?" he chuckled, "for thirteen people? Are you so sure about that, Elphie?" He tried to hold her gaze, not wanting her to look away again. Being avoided was, to say the least, insanely irritating.
"Well, perhaps he's right. Living in one another's pockets all the time can't be good for us; we don't want to get sick of each other now, do we? See? I... I enjoy your company, too. I enjoy you, being with you, being around you. I... I don't like this, this avoiding and hating each other business, all over a stupid misunderstanding." He sighed. "You don't have to take it back. Knowing how you feel, even though I can't feel the same way, is. Is important."
Luxord had the audacity to laugh at that, a small smile forming on his lips. "Throw Fiyero in your face? You're the one that said you wished you could've told him you loved him, what am I supposed to think about that, Elphie? Hate me for it, then," he said calmly, still looking into her eyes, "but know all the while that you mean as much to me as I do to you, and that if I could, I would feel the same way about you as you feel for me."
no subject
She smiled a little when he spoke. "I don't like it either. I'd rather forget the whole ordeal... If I could Luxord, I would. I'd much rather not stay in my room for the rest of my stay here. But now, I don't know. I don't know what I'll do." she ran her hand through her hair.
"My pride got in the way with him. He died before I could tell him. I refused to let you... uh... go on not knowing." she shrugged. She couldn't well say to let him know before he died, because, frankly, he did die before she told him. His death brought on the need to tell him, in all actuality.
Some silence passed, their eyes locked on one anothers. "So, some space then?" she said finally, rather in a whisper.
no subject
"I suppose some space it is," he eventually replied, wondering to himself how much time and space they would need before they could properly begin to repair things.
no subject
"Take care Luxord..." she smiled sadly, I love you... thinking to herself as she turned to walk out of the room.
