Summary: Annabeth can't sleep in an empty room.
The Story: [ hey rachel. heeeeyyyy rachel. you know that knocking on your door? even though it's three a.m.? yeah. hi. please answer.

because standing right outside is an annabeth that not only looks like she hasn't sleep in weeks, but is alone. nervous, almost, in the way she tries to fidget with the hem of her t-shirt - her camp halfblood one, actually. holes and everything.

just don't be asleep. ]

[ there's an intense feeling of relief that comes when rachel opens the door, only to be replaced by a cruel mixture of too much else that annabeth is trying to escape from when she hears the plural.

so instead, she just steps on in, in shorts and her t-shirt with her own hair a mess of curls. ]

No. [ because there's no real point in pretending otherwise. ] Sorry, that event just kind of... [ yeah. excuse her as she collapses into one of the piles of pillow seats. ]

[ no? she definitely said no, which was unexpected. usually, even if Annabeth's read some really horrifying piece of information about a quest, she would insist that yeah, she's fine, and oh by the way enter really horrifying piece of information here. so it catches her off guard for a moment, but then she's shutting the door and moving to flop down on the pile of pillows next to Annabeth's, head propped up on her hand ]

It was pretty weird, wasn't it? Did something bad happen during it, or you mean, um, after?

[ she could guess, easily. but she won't, in case something like, badbad happened, something not relationship related. she's not about to ask if it's about Percy and then turn out to start a load of awkward that isn't even there. ]

[ sorry rachel, there are very few things that really shake annabeth and one of them is actually feeling self conscious about her relationship with percy. especially when it's no one's fault, and she can't really be mad at anyone, so instead it all just sort of festers around in her head. ]

More a reaction, afterwards, about what happened during? [ cause being normal teenagers is actually horrifying considering the circumstances. and there's so much bad bad that can happen when they're all in high school.

...then again, look at their own lives. ]

[ she should have figured it would have been even weirder for Annabeth, who didn't exactly ever go through the "normal" school stuff that comes with being a mortal kid. which probably meant the highs felt higher, but the lows... yeah. probably super, crappy low. ]

Do you want to talk about it? Or do you want to not talk about it? Because I'm here for either. [ she's going to go ahead and n o t talk about her own experience, mostly because it wasn't exactly perfect, but it wasn't at all bad either. it was just- normal. something that freaks her out as much as it leaves her feeling unimpressed. but yeah, so. Annabeth. 500% focused on her best friend. ] Anything, really.

[ she's just never really had the time to worry about this kind of stuff. when you've got the world to save and your own life to worry about, not even considering the lives of all the other campers, high school drama? didn't even make it on her radar. it wasn't even an option. ]

Uh- [ a great example is that she hasn't even though this far, blinking a couple of times when rachel asks. her eyes fall to the ground at her feet where she ends up curling her knees up to her chest. annabeth chase trying to look small? call the presses. ] Not?
