[Open] The woods are lovely, dark, and deep
Who: Integra Hellsing, Levi, and you
Where: The forestof big ass trees
When: Aug 1st
Rating: pg-13
Summary: Integra and Levi are working on 'The Newbie Guide to Wonderland', so come put your two cents in. Also Integra challenged Levi to a spar, let's see how this goes.
The Story: [The forest was silent, eerily so as Levi stepped up to the tree line. His attire had changed from his casual clothing that he had been wearing. He was now back in his Survey Corps uniform-- if only for an sense of familiarity. The leather straps were pulled tight against his body. The giant metal boxes of his gear hung close to his hips, but they still shook slightly as he moved.]
It's quiet.
[Not even birds were singing. This wasn't a good sign. It made him on edge and had him thinking about why. Was something in there that kept them away? Or did the creatures of this world just avoid this place?
He stared into the woods. His vision could only go so far before the trees grew so dense that sunlight couldn't even reach past them. No wonder Armin said the woods was useless, there was only a working space of a couple hundred yards before the trees were so tightly packed that even 3d gear was useless.]
Here is something for a guide: This place is shit.
[Someone write that down.]

[The platinum blond didn't even bother lifting her head up at his comments. She was busy scribbling notes into the journal she was holding feeling the same unease as him. For such a dense forest, you would think something would be living in it. Needless to say, she jotted down her initial observations before moving onward.
The girl had left her pantsuits at home and instead was wearing some black knee-high boots (she figured they would do best if the brush within the forest became too dense) and was still wearing her long-sleeved buttoned-up and gloves. The red cravat and cross were still in their place around her neck. There was a red lace wrapped around her waist holding her sword on her side. It was thin and it fell loose on her waist. On her thigh, her revolver was securely strapped.]
I'll assume the denser the forest goes, the more useless your gear becomes. Correct?
[She still isn't over the fact you have toasters wrapped around your thighs, Levi. And what the hell is up with all those belts...]

[That was the issue with 3d gear, they needed space to move and things to grab onto.]
Armin told me the place wasn't much to fight it, but I was hoping for more working room. He also said there is a limit; you'll die if you go too far in.
[For a moment he wondered if he could go back, kidnap Annie, and have her be the test dummy. Not like anyone would miss her if by some chance Wonderland decided for her to stay dead. Even so, she would have a few lives left after that.]

There's also the fact that his heel has just snapped a dry branch, its sharp whipcrack snap giving Riku every reason to cringe in place.
Darn.
Not that he was trying to hide from anyone, but even mostly immobilized those metal blocks at that guy's hips are hard to miss, so much clinking metal interrupting the sighing of wind through shadowy boughs.
It would be wiser for a seemingly unarmed boy to remain unseen when the others are practically a small armoury between the two of them, but teenagers are seldom wise. There's a flash of silver as he edges around the trunk of a tall-growing tree.]

There's no need to hide. [She called out loud.] Man or beast, we mean no harm. We seek only to pass through the forest.
[She hoped it was a man and not a beast. Hell, at this rate it could have easily been the trees. Wonderland is insane that way.]
no subject
Still he waited, his eyes focused on the area where he heard the snap from.]
Just come out before we find you.
[...He's really not trying to sound like a threat but that is just the aura he naturally has.]

Caught. Good going.
There's a double purpose to the long and calming inhale the Destiny Islands youth takes through his nostrils as he weighs his options. He's seeking out the tell-tale scent of Darkness that winds its way into the crevices of the hearts of all. Whether harmlessly covetous or ruthlessly murderous, all but the most pure of heart carry their own. The more of it, the more distinct the reek.
He could - and probably should - step out into view. It's just a matter of time before he's located anyway, and there are too many risks in hopping out of here the other way.
Riku has no idea how a Corridor might work in this Wonderland, and isn't too keen on testing it out frivolously. He raises his own voice, all nonchalance, cock-sure:]
Sure, why not? Seeing as we're here for the same reason.
[Stepping over the broken branch that betrayed him, Riku cautiously strides out from behind the tree, seeking out the origin of the two voices.]
I believe her -- but what about you?
no subject
Forgive my partner, he can't be blamed for being cautious. [She crossed her arms.] We have heard plenty of foul things from this forest.
no subject
[Just don't be dumb, Riku.]
THIS IS THE FIGHT THREAD, Y'ALL! /rocky theme starts playing in the distance...
All right. Ready for some training, Captain?
[Don't think she hasn't forgotten their agreement.]
no subject
[He's never fought a noble before...hope you know what you are doing, Integra.]
Anything off limits?
no subject
I promise not to shoot you below the belt if you don't aim for my chest.
no subject
[He puts a bit of distance between them as he replaces metal blades he had with some training wooden ones. No point in using live metal in this fight.]
Ready?
no subject
[Come now, Levi. It's not like you're actually going to touch her. She loads her gun with the rubber bullets and aims it at him.]
I'll give you a head start.
no subject
[Besides she was using rubber bullets, might as well.]
Really? If that's what you want.
[He wasn't going to reject a head start, even if he really didn't need it. If anything she had just giving him the edge...but whatever. Without another word the steel cables shot out into the tree and he quickly reeled himself in so that the canopy of the trees hide him.]
no subject
Were I vampire, rest assured if I couldn't hear your heart beat, I could smell you quite easily. Unfortunately, I'm human yet fighting such monsters has made my own reflex's very sharp. [She stopped her pacing and waited. You're bound to make a noise eventually.]
no subject
He waited for second seconds, making sure he is to her back before he springs out. He jumped first, one blade behind him while the other was at his front and his body spun so that each blade could get a hit into her-- but they were also like that so he could shoot his cables out if needed.]
no subject
All she had to do was learn how his gear worked. She reached for her gun and pointed it at him. Now it was to guess his trajectory.]
no subject
As soon as he realized he was able to hit the ground he shot one of the cable to the left. His knees dragged in the grass and dirt as the cables pulled him over and upwards before he shot again to the right to avoid staying still in her line of sight. He needed to reach the tree tops, fast.]
