When: Christmas~? *shot for late*
Rating: PG for Jr's language
Summary: Celebrating the Holiday
The Story:
As Jr made his way to meet MOMO in one of several places where they could easily find one another, he was inclined to speculate. The pink-haired girl had invited him to spend this holiday with her, although neither of them was a real expert on Christmas. He was pretty sure that by the time they'd converted from A.C. to T.C. Christmas had ceased being a celebrated day.
But then, with a Federation of planets, there weren't really such events to observe. Different worlds had different customs and cultures and he couldn't say he was familiar with too much beyond birthdays. Still, it was an opportunity to spend time with his friend and he was grateful for it.
After being apart from them all for months, Jr had found his appreciation for them all quite renewed. Not that he didn't think highly of his friends to begin with, but without them he realized just how important they were in his life. And how much he didn't want to lose any of them no matter the circumstance.
Rounding a corner as he approached the kitchen (MOMO had been practicing cooking of late) Jr inspected the gift he'd made for her. A simple necklace it was crafted from silver, with a tear shaped garnet stone, its topmost point framed with two amber spheres. It wasn't the greatest, but he'd worked hard at it. Resources were limited and he'd have liked to do something far better, as he was wont to spoil his friends when he could, but he'd hope MOMO would like it.
He pocketed it again before entering the kitchen, flashing a grin as he entered the room. It took him a moment to remember the proper salutation, but he got it after some thought. "Merry Christmas, MOMO."

From what she had managed to gather thus far, Christmas involved people getting together to exchange gifts. MOMO had never celebrated Christmas before. It seemed pretty odd to her why it wasn't mentioned on the Federation calendar to begin with but for now... well, there's always a first time for everything.
The Realian had chanced to loan a book on cooking from the library that Jr had showed her the other day and had been inspired to try out some of the recipes. The idea of baking a cake as a Christmas gift for Jr had come along naturally thereafter. She wasn't good at craftwork with her hands (at which point the memory of how Jr had created the bracelet with the bullet attached to it for her back on the Durandel would come to mind) so that was definitely out of the question and that had seemed like the next best thing, short of attempting to buy something appropriate for the red-haired gunner from a shop (if shops even existed in this place to begin with).
After spending days in the kitchen trying to perfect her cooking, the pink-haired Realian finally had a small round freshly baked chocolate cake cooling on the dining table while she mustered up enough courage to ask Jr if he would like to join her in celebrating Christmas. Of course the azure-eyed youth could always reject her invitation. She wouldn't hold it against him if he did since she had popped the question on such short notice.
Now, with Jr on his way here, MOMO found herself pacing the kitchen and pondering over whether there was anything else that needed to be addressed in the meantime. It was her first time celebrating Christmas and she surely didn't want to risk messing anything up.
A familiar male voice interrupted her train of thought as well as announced Jr's arrival at the same instant. "Merry Christmas, Rubedo. Thanks... for coming." The Realian returned the greeting with a sheepish smile on her face.

Jr wondered for a moment why it was that people used 'merry' as a salutation. It wasn't something he was used to at all. But then, holidays like this weren't exactly a Federation standard. And that made everything relating to these holidays a bit foreign to him, not quite understanding what it was that made people decide on this specific day, people should exchange gifts.
Not that he minded. Giving presents to his friends was something he readily did anyhow. They were important to him and he liked getting them things that they would enjoy. Whether it was making something for them or purchasing varied, but it was always with the hope that they'd be happy with it.
Which reminded him about the necklace, and the fact that he didn't know how to present a Christmas gift. Was it any different from other gifts? With the way everyone was making such a big deal out of it he had to wonder if there was something he didn't know about how things worked on this particular day.
...Aside the numerous things he didn't know.
"So... what do people do on Christmas? I'm still not too sure..."

Tilting her head to the side a little, the petite Realian wondered if she should share with Jr what little she had managed to find out thus far about Christmas from the conversations that she had with some random people over the mansion's network. Most of the other inhabitants of the mansion had seemed pretty friendly enough, readily volunteering the information that she seeked the moment she voiced them out.
She could still clearly remember how elated she was when Jr gave her that bracelet as a good luck charm of sorts about a year back. It was the first time that anyone had given her anything to call her own and she still treasured it greatly till this present day. Her cake may not amount to much in comparison with what Jr had given her, but MOMO sincerely hoped that it would bring happiness to the azure-eyed male much like how his gift had managed to do for her.
"Well... from what I've managed to find out thus far, people get together with their friends and loved ones to celebrate. Enjoy one another's company. Exchange gifts..."

It was a holiday but it wasn't a massive issue, or at least the redhead surmised. He always enjoyed MOMO's company so that was easy enough. As for gifts...
Taking a moment he pulled the necklace out of his pocket, careful to conceal it entirely within his hand before removing it. That accomplished he held his hand out, fingers curled around the item to keep it from being seen as he waited for her to reach out to accept it. He hadn't been successful at all with the vile evil that was wrapping paper, so hopefully MOMO wouldn't mind.
"Hope you don't mind that I made yours."
[ooc: I'll respond to the other one tomorrow. Router turns off very soon and I won't have time to finish it. Sorry for the delay. D:]

MOMO smiled softly, both at the memory itself and at Jr's bashful words. Mind? Why should she mind when his words made her feel so... warm and fuzzy inside?
Stretching out her right hand to indicate her acceptance of his gift, amber orbs gazed deeply into azure ones as the Realian shook her head slowly a few times.
"I don't mind. Not a bit at all."

After seeing the way others had wrapped their gifts and failing miserably at his own attempts, Jr had thought that his presentation was rather lacking. He hadn't thought about the fact that this instance was quite similar to one from the past, but he didn't often think about details regarding himself.
Seeing that MOMO was alright with him having made something was very reassuring, he setting the necklace down upon her open palm before withdrawing his hand and letting it fall to his side. He wanted to say that he hoped she'd like it but for once he had some trouble speaking up.
It had been a long time since he'd made such a thing, and the last time it had been MOMO as well. He remembered how much effort he'd put forth to make such a simple trinket back then, and even more for this.

MOMO asked softly as she brought the necklace close to herself so that she could study its design more closely, not minding the slightest at all by it not being wrapped up properly unlike what Jr had been concerned about.
Silver, ruby red and honey yellow. An excellent choice of colours given how they seemed to compliment one another so well. She wondered offhandedly how long it took Jr to make something like this. It might seem simple in itself but the process definitely couldn't have been easy.
"It's beautiful. Thanks Jr..."

Which made his efforts more than worth it, in his opinion. "I'm glad you like it." He said, smile again gracing his features. It looked like she was happy and as long as that was the case he was glad.
MOMO deserved the best from people. She always did her best for others, and Jr was very glad she was in this place with him.

"Um... would you like to try the cake..?"
The sweet-natured Realian had been about to ask Jr if he could help her put on the necklace. It seemed... the most natural thing to do. Even the male and female leads in the few movies that she had perchanced to watch did that shortly, if not almost immediately, after the girl was presented with the gift. She just couldn't bring herself to make that particular request though.
Strange... she never had that problem in the past. Maybe it was this place or perhaps it was time she required some form of maintenance...
