[Thread] Ansem, Xehanort and Xemnas
Who: Ansem, Xehanort, and Xemnas.
Where Outside, past the gardens
When: Evening. They happen to like the Darkness, thank you!
Rating: Probably PG, just to be safe.
Summary: The Nobody and Heartless just have to meet their somebody.
Ansem did like to think of himself as a cold, calculating person, alot like his nobody, but as a being of Chaos, he felt more than his other, even if it was marginally so. Regardless, he was certain if his nobody could feel emotions, he would be feeling something, and therefore Ansem had been able to deduce that his other was quite plagued on how to take this situation. So was Ansem, but only marginally so, afterall, it amused him more than anything else.
It was in this state of mind that he knocked on his other's door with confidence, knowing the nobody would be ready. Afterall, they would need to be ready to intercept the nobody as quickly as they possibly could, hoping that he wouldn't meander around the grounds for too long.
When the door opened, he tipped his head towards the rest of the hall, before offering a smirk to his other in greeting. It was odd how he felt around the other...would it be this same way around the human part?

Xemnas was somewhat lost in his thoughts, just finishing buttoning up the trenchcoat Vexen had given him when there was a knock at the door, and he swiftly went to answer it, already knowing who it would be.
"Well, good evening to you too," he chuckled in reply to the smirk, and stepped through the doorway to join his other, closing the door behind him. "Shall we be off to go and... sort out our Somebody, then? If he gets lost in the gardens, I am more than sure that Marluxia's... 'lovely' plants will make quick work of him."
He hadn't realised how weird it would be to say those words until they were out of his mouth. Unusual, to say the least.
[ooc; Is there going to be a posting order once they find Xehanort, or something else? Sorry to put it all on your shoulders, but. XD I don't mind either way, if that helps any? XD]

"That would be why I arranged it for outside the gardens, that and we never know when the garden-master could be around," he growled, before beginning their journey to the gardens, if it could be called a journey...more like a leisurely stroll between two men who could most likely be called brothers.
Amused, Ansem looked over to his other, smirking with that mysterious smirk. "He does indeed have that passion that I ... remember ...it was so easy for him to quickly become enamored once I spoke of the darkness, and the implications of it," he mentioned in a conversational tone as they reached the door to the outside, and he opened it up in a mock-gentlemanly fashion.
no subject
"And you trust him to stay put?" he asked, amusement showing on his features. "But, yes. I don't really want to have to encounter the 'garden-master', if I can avoid it." Xemnas made a slight face at the mere thought and fell in step with Ansem, his thoughts occasionally straying to how... odd this day had been. If Ansem the 'Wise' showed up here too, he honestly wouldn't know what to say or think.
Xemnas met his other's gaze and couldn't help but chuckle, a small smile on his face. "I must admit, I haven't talked to him all that much, but. I am somewhat glad he shows the same passion for research as... we did, way back then. And that you still do, it seems," he commented, rather amused. "I'm not entirely surprised that that is the case; it was... his whole life, and all that he had besides the 'master' and his fellow apprentices." Shrugging a little, he nodded to Ansem and uttered a quick thank you before stepping through the door, waiting patiently for his other to follow suit.
[ooc; Sounds good to me! :D~ Thank you~ :D]

Ansem shook his head, and chuckled. "What a conundrum we seem to be facing..." he purred, laughing out loud for the briefest moment. "We do not know whether to refer to him as a collective us or a unique being, or even what to call us before, its quite frustrating," he stated simply, chuckling to himself as they neared the end of the gardens.
He hoped they would not have to wait to long, or worse, that their original had been waiting for too long and would surely have gone exploring.

Admittedly, Xehanort had been getting a little impatient for the two to turn up, and had started wandering off in search of the gardens when they arrived. He looked like a deer caught in headlights as he paused and hastily faced them, hoping a little desperately that it wouldn't look like he had been about to wander off without meeting up with them first.
He looked from one man to the other, and was immediately struck by how similar they looked to one another. Brothers, perhaps? True, their hair styles were slightly different, but. Their eyes... were orange, just like his. A little creepy, Xehanort admitted to himself.
"Good evening," he said a little nervously in greeting, nodding a little at the pair. He felt slightly awkward standing there in his scientist's garb while the other two were a bit more... elegantly dressed, but he tried his best to push it to the back of his mind.
no subject
"Hm, good evening indeed," he mused, folding his arms and observing his somebody with slight disdain an a touch of curiosity. He didn't remember much of the days of Radiant Garden, save for the odd time Vexen, Xaldin or Xigbar jogged his memory, which was... no doubt for the better. It would feel somewhat intrusive to remember more about someone else than they did. Someone else? Was Xehanort truly someone else?
This was going to take a lot of considering and thought to decide on, obviously. Ansem was right, of course; the two were... somewhat baffled as to what they were to Xehanort, and what Xehanort was to them.
"We do apologise for being... late," Xemnas's eyes narrowed slightly, shooting Ansem another glance, silently saying he wasn't even sure why he was apologising, but if it put their somebody a little more at rest, well. No doubt their meeting would be considerably more pleasant if Xehanort didn't feel like he was the kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
no subject
Now...now he felt the darkness within him stir in accordance to the feeling of being close to...what would he refer to the scientist as. 'Father' would hardly be fitting to his ego, and 'Original' made him seem seemingly insignificant compared to the Scientist. Perhaps he should simply follow Xemnas's example, and refer to him as Xehanort, but that seemed so...silly...as if he would be avoiding the question.
Chuckling at the apology from his other, he smirked, and dipped into a mock-bow to the scientist. "Indeed," he quipped with amusement. "I suppose you are wondering how we knew about your research, aren't you?" he questioned, restraining from the idea of still calling it his research, or their research. It was far too odd.
no subject
Thankfully, the scientist was blissfully unaware of the other's... issues, otherwise he... obviously wouldn't have known how to react.
And he didn't exactly when the one he pinned as being 'Ansem' asked the question he was dying to have answered.
"Well, to be completely honest, I would like to know how the two of you know about it. I guess I'm just rather... surprised, at all of this, I mean. Few know about the Door to Darkness, so. How did the pair of you come across that information?" Xehanort asked curiously, hoping he wasn't asking the pair too many questions at once. But they were ones he wanted answered, and he just hoped they would be obliging in telling him what he wanted to know.
no subject
"A lot more know about the Door to Darkness than I think you suspect," Xemnas said, as calmly as if he were merely ordering Luxord and Xigbar to stop killing one another instead of explaining something that could possibly turn the scientist's world upside down. "And as for how we know about your research, well. It is a rather long story, but first, tell me. What do you know of the Heartless?"
Xemnas folded his arms again, looking to Ansem for verbal support. No doubt his other knew more about them, not only because he was one himself. Since becoming a Nobody, he had really only been in contact with the Nobodies, and therefore knew little of their heart-hungry counterparts.
no subject
Alas, he could not simply relinquish his confident exterior either. That would simply not do, but Xemnas was far better at the planning stages. Perhaps he should just follow the lead that his other had set before him for now. That was a shaky 'for now', however.
"Quite a bit more..." he purred simply after his other had completed his little spiel. "Probably a considerable amount more than even you know," he said with a chuckle. After all, they had both, at least, seen Kingdom Hearts. He never did bring that up around his other...he would need to do so, he suspected. "Ah yes, the heartless, have you encountered them? Basement of Hollow- Radiant Garden?" he requested, correcting himself. He had renamed the place with a far more fitting title, but that did not mean that Xehanort knew of it...he did not remember whether he had intended to rename the place or not anymore. It had indeed been far too long.
no subject
The Heartless, hm? Well, that was something that Xehanort could talk about with at least a bit more confidence. "Of course I have! There's a machine there, that makes them. We created it, behind the-- ...what do the Heartless have to do with this?" he asked curiously, looking from Ansem to Xemnas without blinking. "The Emblem Heartless, or the other ones? Or does that not particularly matter?"
no subject
Almost.
“The other… apprentices told us nothing of it,” Xemnas replied patiently, tapping his fingers against his arm absentmindedly. “What type of Heartless you have encountered matters not, but you understand what they are, don’t you? Seekers of… darkness, of hearts.” The fact that Xehanort had already started experimenting with them made the Superior almost pleased; it would obviously make explaining things a whole lot easier.
“When a Heartless retrieves a heart, the person whose heart is taken also turns into a Heartless… but if the person is of strong enough will and outer strength, then they leave something else behind as well. A mere shell, if you will. Are you following what we’re saying so far?” he enquired, amusement still showing in his features.
no subject
Ansem couldn't help but lick his lips. Consuming hearts...he did not need to do it often, but the need still arose from time to time, although he had not been plagued with the hunger so far...the mention made him want it more. He chuckled, and wondered if Xehanort had even taken the time to look him over at all. After all, it should come to mind that he carried the emblem.
"Ah yes, and do not forget, Superior," he chided, emphasizing the name with the slightest amount of mockery. He could never actually think of Xemnas as truly superior to him. Perhaps even, but not superior, no. "The Emblem Heartless are far more powerful than the silly little shadows," he purred, chuckling to himself.
Speaking of the shells...that would be left to Xemnas. He did not really comprehend the Nobodies as well as his other, just like his other probably did not comprehend the Heartless quite as well. Smirking, he leered forward just slightly, smirking into the moonlight at Xehanort. "I'm sure you know precisely what we are speaking of, are you not?" he requested, slowly reaching into the folds of his clothing, the cream cloth peeling away to reveal more of the caramel-coloured skin as he pulled out several slightly yellowed sheets of paper, familiar, ornate handwriting dotting across the landscape of the pages.
no subject
"Well, of course I know what you're--" Xehanort was about to reply to Ansem's query about his understanding when two things stopped him rather dead; curiosity and slight intrigue as to the nature of the papers that he had just pulled out, as he couldn't entirely see them all that well from where he was standing coupled with the lack of light, and that the other's movements had cast a little more light on... a Heartless symbol?
"You carry their symbol," he whispered almost breathlessly. "You're... a Heartless? How is that... the Heartless haven't taken any such shape before. And certainly not one so... so human." This recent discovery left him in silent awe of the man, and well, truth be told a little in fear of him on top of that.
no subject
Xemnas could almost see the mockery on Ansem's face as he called him Superior; he could certainly hear it in his other's voice, and he merely smirked in reply, despite how... weird -- for lack of a better word -- it was for his other to refer to him as such.
"Oh, do forgive my oversight, but it seems our good scientist here was aware of it nonetheless, so I am sure it can be overlooked."
The amount of questions that Xehanort was firing off at a rather rapid rate would have been disconcerting if Xemnas hadn't already become used to it, being the Superior to an Organization of twelve other Nobodies who were increasingly persistent and needy at times, so he shrugged it off.
"Yes, he is a Heartless," the tapping continued and he shot his other a glance, preferring to let him handle explaining the hows and whys of the Heartless part to him instead of Xemnas trying to do it himself. No doubt it would end in disaster if he tried, anyway.
"And not only is he a Heartless, but he and I are... well, I suppose you could say rather closely connected." The smirk returned. "The shell that I mentioned before -- when a person has their heart taken, if they are strong enough, split into two 'beings' -- a Heartless, and a Nobody. The Nobody is the shell, existing as merely the body and soul of people who lose their hearts to darkness. Ansem and I are Heartless and Nobody, respectively, of the same person. Are you still following what we're saying well enough?"
no subject
Ansem was still leering at him from the shadows of the night, wondering how long it would take the man to realize just who they were. After all, they did look like him. Well, He knew he did. Perhaps the silly hairdo of Xemnas's was a deterrent for whom he came from, but Ansem was most certainly born of Xehanort.
"The person we were once was quite powerful, or else I would most likely be just as the rest of the heartless, instead of a master," he purred, smirking still at the man.
Really, how obvious could it be?
no subject
Something wasn't right. There was something amiss, something obviously right underneath his nose that he was missing - but what was it? Xehanort was silent for a few more moments before he looked up at Xemnas, then to Ansem, and then to the pages in the Heartless' hand.
"So if the only people that should know about it is myself and the other five apprentices, then..." Realization hit him like a thunderbolt. "You two must be somehow connected to one of them." And the papers in Ansem's hands were surely the reports that he had written when he had assumed his master's name.
...which meant...
"You two... you..." The orange eyes all of a sudden made far too much sense. Their appearances were much similiar to his once he looked closely enough; Ansem more so than Xemnas, but still... the resemblance was too close to be mere coincidence.
"You... you two are me?" Xehanort said, almost disbelieving. "How... how is this possible?"
no subject
The Nobody had to try his hardest not to sigh in utter relief. He had been beginning to wonder if he should call in Luxord to take bets on how long it would take the young scientist to cotton on; admittedly, it had taken Xehanort a lot longer than he had expected to come to the right conclusion, for one so intelligent. Perhaps his naivete was something to be concerned about, after all.
Perhaps his hairdo and having a rather sad lack of a proper Nobody symbol to wear proudly on his chest didn't exactly help matters. At any rate, it was out in the open now, and didn't particularly matter.
"Yes. Ansem and I... are your Heartless and Nobody, respectively. How it is possible is a rather long story... but, as you now know of what we truly are, I suppose we do owe you an explanation. Though it might... not be particularly what you wish to hear. Or it may be. That will be entirely your call."
Personally, Xemnas guessed that it would be the latter due to the fact it would prove his research was all a complete success and went completely according to plan, but the reaction to it when he first became a Nobody was among the memories he couldn't recall.
A bit of a shame, really.
no subject
"Yes," he purred simply, eying Xehanort with his golden, glowing eyes. "Do you understand now the need to talk to you?" he questioned. "Of course, we do not consider ourselves you, but merely parts of what were once you..." He chuckled softly, shaking his head. "We are in a bind as to whether to refer to ourselves, all three of us, as a collective us or even to refer to ourselves as separate entities," he stated simply, smirking to his "original".
He wasn't certain what else to say. "We must cease your pursuit to further the case of the heartless, lest you again split into..." he pointed to both him and Xemnas, "us...again," he stated simply, feeling all of the sudden rather exposed. Afterall, Xehanort now knew the secret, even if he would have known eventually, he did not like knowing that others could leak his secret.
no subject
"Obviously," he finally managed to say, "if the three of us exist side by side, together, then we are separate entities, and should be referred to by our own names. Surely, that's logical? I mean, unless you two don't like that..." Xehanort was well aware that he was babbling excitedly, and he tried to calm himself a little before continuing.
"I promise that I will cease all studies into the case of the heartless, but. I am still allowed to study the darkness, surely? Unless that too is not such a wise idea. I'm content leaving the heartless as they are, now that I know that the research succeeded, but..." he was loathe to admit that not being able to study the darkness as well would, to put it bluntly, ...suck.
no subject
"That was one of many conclusions that we ended up coming to; but we were still not entirely sure how to address it. However, with your input, I suppose we can come to a somewhat clearer decision on it," he replied, folding his arms not quite self-consciously. He also felt rather uneasy about Xehanort now possessing the knowledge of what they 'truly' were, but surely it would be alright; Xehanort didn't seem the type to go shouting such things to the rooftops. Hopefully.
The Nobody shot a questioning glance at Ansem -- he had studied the darkness, obviously, but not as much nor to the same extent as Ansem, and wasn't sure if him continuing such research would be a good idea or not. "As long as you do not try anything... stupid, I do not see why studying the darkness should be a problem, but..." Xemnas motioned to Ansem with a wave of his hand, "he is a lot better to ask about such things than I."
Ansem didn't have the title, 'Seeker of Darkness,' for nothing, after all.
no subject
"There is nothing wrong with your study of the darkness, but the relationship between both the darkness and its... lighter counterpart is just as fascinating," he purred with a smirk. "As long as you promise not to complete a descent into the darkness fully, I'm sure we could work out arrangements on how to pursue your study..." he chuckled, and shook his head.
Ansem did enjoy his role as a master of the heartless and seeker of darkness, it was quite...exhilarating.
no subject
"I would greatly appreciate the help - I... very much want to continue my studies, and if you didn't mind entirely, I am sure there is a lot I could learn eventually from the both of you, if you could fill me in on what happened after the darkness claimed... well, me." It was almost a hint that if they wanted to assist him in his studies he would appreciate it more than he could put into words, but he - well, admired, for lack of a better word - both men, and didn't really want to ask for fear of being shot down.
no subject
Xehanort was babbling to the point where he sometimes didn't entirely make sense, and Xemnas once more couldn't help but be faintly amused by it. "And we are more than willing to give it. Well, I cannot speak for my other, of course; but I certainly wouldn't say no to lending a hand with the research every once in a while, if that is indeed what you are hinting at."
He paused a bit, before continuing. "What happened after the darkness claimed you is an incredibly long story -- if you really wish to know every last detail, we would be standing here until winter turned into autumn, as both Ansem and I have different views and the timespan is over seven years. But we can certainly outline it for you, at the very least."
no subject
Chuckling to himself, he shook his head. "Yes, the entirety of our collective story," he paused, gesturing not only to himself, but also Xemnas and Xehanort, "is far too long of a tale to spin in only a few short hours, but we can fill you in throughout the course of time," he smirked. "After all, I believe we are stuck here for an extended period of time," he mentioned simply.
no subject
One’s ego was an unusual thing, and he knew it, from first-hand experience. Even personal experience, if you will.
“Of course; I’m not exactly patient, as I do rather wish to hear the story, but. I can wait. An extended period of time? How long is this ‘extended period of time’ for then, exactly?” Xehanort wondered if he even cared – he was actually rather content to live out his days in the mansion, side by side with his Heartless and Nobody. After all, if he went back to Radiant Gardens, then history would repeat itself. He would split into Xemnas and Ansem, in time. The more he thought about it, the less the idea of returning to his old life appealed to him. Half of the apprentices were at the mansion; as Nobodies, no less, but surely that could be worked around. Hopefully.
no subject
He could deal with having no heart for a little bit longer.
“By ‘extended period of time,’ we do, essentially, mean technically ‘forever’. Unless you are one of the lucky few that manage to somehow escape the mansion, then I do suppose you will reside here for all eternity.” He suppressed yet another smirk, before continuing. “No doubt before the end of your stay here, we would have had the chance to tell you every little detail, if you and undeniably we wish to. Worry not; we will reveal all, over due course.”
The way his other and his somebody emphasized the ‘equality’ between them just made Xemnas sigh. Men and their egos, though undeniably his was also rather inflated. Some things never changed. “Yes, as equals,” he agreed, though it was hardly necessary to do so.
no subject
At the behest of his other, he did pick up the string regarding eternity. "It is difficult to discern just what the point of this place is, however, and I find it a rather staunch annoyance," he admitted with a smirk as he looked up to the moon, brilliant and full in the night sky. The weather was just as fickle as the place. "There will be plenty of time to explain everything, but would not the promise of knowledge later allow us respite?" he purred simply. "I am certain that my other and I are both hardly in the mood to sit and spin a tale that could take days to tell, especially in the middle of this plot of land," he explained simply.
He, after all, simply did not feel like explaining his eventual entrapment in the Kingdom Hearts.
