AIM Log || Kurogane and Fai [COMPLETE]

Who: Fai ([livejournal.com profile] kitty_in_wonder) and Kurogane ([livejournal.com profile] ninjaxdoggie)
Where Fai's Room (Third Floor, Room 120)
When: Just after this conversation.
Rating: PG-13 for vampire feeding via the wrist.
Summary: Kurogane, upon arriving at the mansion, comes up to Fai's room so that Fai can feed for the first time in months.
the Story:

Fai clutched at his sheets as he lay face down on his bed, anticipating the arrival of the one person he had hoped to avoid in the mansion. His newfound senses were driving him nearly insane. He knew Kurogane was there in the mansion the very second he had arrived. It became difficult to concentrate, as all of his new instincts were screaming for blood. He could sense him in an almost savage, beastly way, since it had been over three months since he had last preyed upon him. Those three months were painfully obvious to Fai, as starving was an incredibly painful way to die slowly. Shaking slightly, Fai forced himself upright, to save himself from looking like a pathetic animal in Kurogane's presence. Losing his composure was the last thing he needed.

Just as Fai had managed the sit upright, Kurogane silently opened the door to Fai's room, then closed it behind him just as quietly. While he wasn't as acutely aware of the mage's presence when entering the mansion, he hadn't been surprised that Fai was in fact here. Whether it was because of the bond made between them, because they had traveled with each other for who-knew-how-long, or because of something else was a question Kurogane couldn't answer. Intense red eyes scanned across the room before settling their sharp gaze upon Fai, watching his posture and for any sudden movements he might make. They weren't on the best of terms after all. " Thirsty I take it?" he grunted, thumb positioned on the end of his sword with obvious intent.

Fai smiled, though as always it was incomplete and broken. His hands were still gripping the bedding tightly, but he was able to sit up with the illusion of grace and humanity. His remaining eye though, had turned gold and almost cat-like from his vampiristic desires. His skin was even more pale than it should have been though, and though he would never admit it, he was too weak at that moment to be able to do anything to Kurogane. " ...Just a bit," Fai said, eyeing the sword and sounding much less than thrilled.

Kurogane walked over to Fai's bed, slitted eyes still trained on him. Despite Fai's obvious discontent with this, he'd at least make sure to make this process as... painless as possible, mentally. A simple cut, blood, drinking, done. That's all that it had been before, and that's all that was needed now. Though, seeing as Fai had gone without for three months, it would probably be quite a lot of blood taken, more than usual. Not that it mattered much - He had asked for it anyways, to be responsible. Taking his sword out, he made a clean cut at his wrist, blood immediately oozing from the wound. " Here." he said, remaining standing because, one, it would probably be easier for Fai at this angle, and two, even if he became light headed, he wouldn't be beside the blond, the very angry, hating blond who was feeding from him.

Immediately, Fai took Kurogane's arm, but paused when it occurred to him that his body had seemed to move on its own at the sight and especially the scent of his blood. That pause was momentary though, as the hunger completely overwhelmed him. Fai brought his lips to the wound and took in the flowing blood. He was absolutely ravenous, and the blood was delicious and disgusting all at once, an oddly sweet copper taste. Then again, it was the only thing that seemed to have any taste anymore. Even though Fai wanted desperately to stop himself, his body would not allow it.

Without flinching in the slightest physically or mentally, Kurogane stared resolutely ahead, allowing Fai to take as much as he needed without so much as a changed expression. Allowed, because Fai had that right, even if his body told him otherwise. He had trained himself to fight against being weakened, and now he had to fight against doing so. This act was the one exception he had to make to his training, and he would do so because he was too loyal to go against his word. For now, he would just focus on standing without wavering as the blood seeped from his veins to give to Fai.

The blood took effect almost as soon as it entered Fai, healing and filling him all at once. His strength very slowly began to return to him and what little color he had flowed back into his face. Fai had inwardly thought he would take the smallest amount he could live off of, but now that he was feeding he could not bring himself to stop so soon. There was nothing that could be done until he was physically satisfied, no matter what his mind said.

Blood loss was a serious weakness to a warrior, but Kurogane had willingly given up that one part of his strength to save Fai, even if he wasn't sure exactly how much weaker he would be. Right now was one of the few times he asked himself that again - Just how much would Fai need this time around after having... basically starved? But the question was quickly batted away as Kurogane focused his energy on remaining cognizant and unmoved by Fai feeding on his self-inflicted wound, at least until the feeding process was done and he was out of his room.

For a moment, Fai appeared to be struggling with himself. He had been too long, or so he felt. He now possessed the strength to struggle with himself, with the monster he had been transformed into, and he did so with all of his might. He needed to stop. He had to stop. If he took too much then Kurogane...no, it made it even more difficult to bring him into it. He had to stop. Stop. Stop. Slowly then, almost uncertainly, Fai pulled away, catching his breath.

As Fai pulled away, Kurogane let his arm drop, his other hand closing over what remained of the wound - It wasn't bleeding as much now though, if at all. He'd patch it up again after. " That enough?" he asked, because if he needed more, he would get more, no matter how much more was and how weak he would become from it.

" It is," Fai said before he was entirely certain. He took another deep breath, trying to calm himself. He was no longer hurting from the hunger, and there was no chance that he was going to die. He wiped the blood from his lips with the back of his hand, instead of licking it away. " ...It is," he said again, much more firmly. " I'm fine." He could have kept going and drank until he was completely full, but he refused to allow himself to do so. Fine was not full, but fine was livable, certainly.

Casting another glance around the room, which was really just a method to keep him from swaying or dozing off from blood loss, Kurogane went to his pocket and took out some bandage. Since Fai had become a vampire, having some on hand at all times was a good thing, especially to cover up his wrist until it healed up again, or until Fai was hungry once more. " ... You said three months right? You know what this place is then?" Because as difficult as Fai could be, he really was the only person Kurogane knew in this place.

" ...mm. As much as anyone else here anyway," Fai said. He wore a hollow smile and he could not bring himself to look Kurogane in the eye. Now that he was of sound mind, he pretended he was not aware that the loss of that much blood might be harming Kurogane. After all, what did Fai care about him? " We're in a mansion," Fai said. " And...everyone here seems to be from worlds other than this. We're all trapped here." He could have been especially cruel and denied Kurogane this information, though it seemed to come out of his mouth before he realized it.

It made any difference now, but Kurogane had been expecting some deceiving on Fai's part, or just plain ignoring of the question because it had come from him. Had he not been focusing on remaining unfazed by the loss from within him, he might have even admitted he was startled, slightly anyway. " Trapped? So that person was right then... Well there's gotta be some way. I'm not staying here the rest of my life. " He scowled, the only movement on his part besides his lips was the slight shifting from side to side of his body.

Fai watched him shift, but did not bring attention to it or act as though he had noticed at all. " You might have to," Fai said darkly. " You get used to it though, being here." There was a very important detail that Fai was forgetting on purpose. The mansion liked to toy with its patrons. Fai, in the three months he had been in the mansion, had experienced some terrible, horrible things. Those horrible things, however, were something that Kurogane would have to experience for himself. Fai wasn't about to warn him about it. " Searching for that way might give you something to do though." Fai shrugged. He had no intentions of helping. If they left, they left. If they stayed, they stayed. Aside from that, it didn't matter to him at all.

Well, if he was wobbling slightly, he wasn't going to mention it either... for now. And it mattered to him. There had to be a way out, he still had Nihon to get to. That, and he had said he would travel with this... awkward family that formed, and that he would find the one that killed his mother. Stupid house wasn't going to stop him. " I don't plan on staying long enough to get used to it." Kurogane growled stubbornly. In turn, he wasn't going to tell Fai that he would be busy with that, and with scouting the place, because the blond obviously didn't care at all, because Kurogane was the one saying it. But that was a given with Fai.

" Then I guess you'll have to do what no one else here has been capable of," Fai said coldly. He knew there were people searching for ways out of this strange world, but no one had ever gotten very far as far as he knew. Though really, Fai wasn't looking very hard. The only person he had really wanted to see was Sakura, and he bared guilt because he has said he would go along to protect her and help her, even if his powers that had gone mostly used on their journey were now too weak to be helpful. Syaoran was not "Syaoran" and Kurogane was someone Fai was hoping secretly would not show up at all. But he had. Leaving the mansion's world would be nice, certainly, but Fai did not care enough to make an honest effort to leave. If Kurogane found a way out though, he would certainly be brought along as well, but he would not extend a hand to help search for a way out. He couldn't.

Kurogane was about to make a somewhat smug sounding remark about the only one capable of it was probably himself, and he hadn't been here long at all ( he aimed to be the strongest after all) but instead, his vision became hazy, only for a moment though, to which he blinked a few times to make it clear again. And then, despite his best intentions to do the exact opposite of this, one of his knees buckled beneath him, warranting a sharp hiss of surprise and dizziness. Well, this wasn't good. He guessed he sort of deserved it though.

Fai's eyes widened when he saw Kurogane, who was supposed to be the stronger of the two, buckle. For a moment, Fai felt guilty, but that guilt was quickly replaced with anger. It was stupid of Kurogane to waste his strength and his blood on him, and it was a foolish decision to save him in the first place. And even after his blood had been taken, even after he had been made weak, he was still trying to stand, and it bothered Fai immensely. " What good will it do you to struggle there?" he said. There were places to sit. Kurogane didn't have to torture himself, but Fai would not phrase it that way. Instead, with his one eye, he glanced over to the other bed in the room. There was room on Fai's bed, but it was not a possibility. Fai would not stand to be that close to him again.

It might have been stupid, but Kurogane still didn't believe in the wrong. Had he had the chance to start over those events, he would have done exactly the same thing and made the deal with the Witch. He was wrong about one thing though - standing there was not a good idea. Struggling wasn't a good idea. " ... Aa. " he decided to say, seeing as it was one of the few things that took minimal effort to say that sounded coherent. Had he been a weaker man, he would have been worse off. After a moment, he stood up and slowly went to the silently offered bed, taking a seat, grumbling something that sounded like a thank you. Not that it meant anything of course. Fai hated him, and the only possible reason Kurogane could think of as to why he could be offering this was because Kurogane was, willing or not, his bait.

Fai didn't respond. He was supposed to be the one who did not get very angry, and always maintained his composure, but seeing Kurogane so weakened by him infuriated Fai. He was angry at Kurogane, and at himself both for various reasons. He was not the type to scream or yell in rage though, so he kept quiet, distancing himself even further. Though suddenly, there was nothing at all that could be said. Everything Fai wanted to say sounded stupid or irrelevant or too kind or too cruel. Fai could find nothing to fit, so instead he said nothing at all.

Too much had happened in one day, Kurogane thought. A new world, new people, and then someone not new but who was emotionally a stranger still, except for the obvious hatred. It was difficult to say, but he didn't know much about Fai, at all, and now they weren't even on good terms. Tch, the idiot didn't make any sense whatsoever. In short, combined with the blood loss, this hadn't been one of his better days. An apology sounded fitting right now - for having to take a bed, for the moment, not for anything else. " ... Sorry. I'll be gone soon." Sorry, because he obviously wasn't wanted here.

It was true that he wasn't wanted there. Fai had spent his days hoping that Kurogane would not show up at all, but Fai quickly discovered that it's much easier to hate someone when they were not standing before him and in pain because of him. There was a conflict in his heart, but he knew that he could not allow himself to forgive Kurogane. Forgiveness would bring him close again, and Fai wanted to push him away with all of the hatred he could muster. most of all though, Fai wanted it to be easy, but it was proving to be just the opposite. " ...Do you have somewhere else to go?" Fai asked, remembering hearing stories of people who had been sleeping in hallways until they found a room. Fai considered himself relatively lucky to have found one as quickly as he had.

" No, " he said simply, frowning slightly. " I just arrived here and came up. I'll find something tomorrow. " He was a fighter, a warrior after all. He was used to sleeping where ever space and support was available. A wall or post (or tree, but apparently one couldn't get out of the house) was plenty support.

Fai frowned at the fact that he had been Kurogane's first concern, even above finding shelter. He didn't want to see Kurogane sleeping in a tree outside or against a wall in his current condition. Truthfully though, he didn't want to be concerned at all, and he hated that he was. In order to avoid seeing his reaction, and so that he would not have to look him in the eye, Fai let himself fall back onto the mattress, with his legs dangling off the side of the bed. " ...That's silly," Fai said to the ceiling. " Why bother looking for something else when there's an empty bed right there?"

Since Fai was looking at the ceiling, Kurogane couldn't see the blond's expression, but hopefully that meant it was the same vice versa. " Because it's--"your room, he started without thinking... Okay, that wasn't the best thing to say. He frowned, forcing his mind to let him say something less blunt sounding. " I mean... " There was the obvious 'because you don't want me here' reasoning. They had shared rooms before, for long periods of time too, so it wouldn't be new, but at the same time it was because they hadn't since the deal with the Witch had been made. " ... You offering?" You don't mind?

Did he mind? Yes, he did mind. He minded a lot. But he did have a spare bed and Kurogane did need a place to stay and the last thing Fai needed was more guilt on his shoulders. But Fai was quiet again. He felt like he should have kicked Kurogane out right then and there. But was also haunted by a time where he would have smiled and laughed, and said that his big puppy had earned a place to stay. Those times felt so far away and completely unreachable. They were distant memories of things that Fai would never allow himself to have again. " ...I am." Fai finally said.

Kurogane's brow furrowed for a moment, but that was the only hint of an expression on his face. Fai's room or not, he wasn't about to turn down something that he could use that Fai had offered to him. Even though he knew it was for other motives, it almost felt welcoming, if one ignored the fact they were hated by that one person. " Okay. I'll stay then." he replied, sitting back enough so he was lying on his back, eyes not closed yet. " Thanks."

" You're welcome," Fai said. It didn't mean anything though. Allowing Kurogane to stay with him, it didn't mean anything at all. it didn't make him any closer or any more "special" to him. No, it did not mean a thing. They may have been in the same room out of Fai's kindness, but there was still distance between the beds. It was a painful distance, but it was what needed to be done. No one needed to be hurt by being involved with Fai. And so Fai would hate him with everything he had. Even if Kurogane had become his roommate once again, Fai would still hate him because he had to.

He planned to sleep, maybe just a bit longer than usual so he was completely able when he woke up, soon, though his sleep constituted as closing his eyes and remaining partially awake in case anything happened. He didn't trust this place yet. " Going to rest soon." Kurogane announced, red eyes closing tiredly. There was no shame in it either, as he guessed most wouldn't have been able to take the sudden blood loss by just sitting down. He could deal with all of these... things later, after some rest.

" Do what you want," Fai said, turning over onto his stomach. It didn't matter to Fai when Kurogane slept, and he was honestly surprised he was still awake anyway, after all of the blood he had taken from him. Fai realized fully that for the first time in several months, he had a good amount of energy. He would have slept as well, but he couldn't have if he tried. He wanted to though, to just curl up into a ball and sleep. It had been a long day. But he laid there anyway, figuring that once he was sure Kurogane was asleep, he would go take a walk somewhere, anywhere, just to get a moment to breathe. " ...you're a fool," Fai said into his pillow, mumbled and barely audible.
