i hear the voice of rage and ruin
Who: Adam Milligan (
halfwinchester) and Charlie Bradbury (
kickassqueen).
Where: Outside the mansion.
When: Dec. 19th.
Rating: Let's assume PG-13 for kicks.
Summary: Thanks for turning Christmas into another shit show, Wonderland. Thanks so much.
The Story:
[When the Red Queen makes his eardrums rattle with her announcement, all Adam can think in response is that there is no "we" in this. If she wants to go down her magic hole and kill the magic monster, she can go--it's these storybook characters' damn fault that this happening at all.
Let them be the ones to finally do something about it and figure it out themselves, Jesus.
Adam has other reasons for not wanting to take a leap of faith down the Rabbit Hole, and they start and end with the memory of free-falling into a pit, helpless to do anything about it. Not this time. This time, he's staying clear of Apocalypses until they come to him.
His resolve not to make himself a defenseless target on Mirror side doesn't stop him from going outside to take a look at the tunnel, though. Adam keeps a fair distance back from it, but for a while he waits to see if anyone comes and goes, hands jammed in his jacket pockets.]

Sort of.
Enough so that she goes by the Rabbit Hole to check it out. No leaps for this techy girl, no way, she is just fine hanging out at base and being a contact point if needed.
When she arrivals to take a look and then promptly gtfo, she spies Adam off to the side. This clearly is an invitation to catch up. ]
You think anyone will come back from that? [ She draws close, arms folded over her chest so it looks like she's almost hugging herself. Nodding to the hole, she grimaces. ] Nothing good ever comes out of jumping into a random hole. Not that we've got a whole lotta choice if we're gonna fight off that Jabberthingy.

And he doesn't mind it, not being a part of the hunter crowd. Dean and Sam and their people can stay on one side of the line, and he'll stay on the other.
Adam looks over at the sound of a familiar voice.
Speak of the devil. Charlie is... well, Charlie is one of his brothers' friends, but like Jo she's not terrible. Not nearly so careless with her choice of words as Becky, anyway.]
They better. What's the point of being like a cat with nine lives if it's not going to work?
[He lifts his chin in greeting, not quite a nod. His thoughts are elsewhere, though, on the people who've already disappeared to the other side.
A frown flashes across his faces, there and gone in a brief moment, before he turns his gaze away from the hole in the ground and back to Charlie.]
So you're holding out on this side, too?

[ It's said as a joke that falls a little flat. She's only died once here, and if it had been a death in the face of, say, protecting someone against a monster it would have been no biggie.
Instead, it had been murder, with someone who had Dean's face. That was a nightmare that she's still getting over, so avoiding death is at the top of her list. ]
Becoming Jabberchow doesn't seem like a good way to go anyway. We can stay here and take care of the base. [ Unsaid is that if the others fail, they'll all get nommed eventually. She doesn't want to think about it. ] Seems like everyone's willing to work together on this, which can't be a bad thing. Common enemies make everyone friends, right?

Only in the movies.
[His gaze stays riveted on the tunnel. He's unable to find the energy to put a positive spin on things.]
I thought that sword was the only thing that could kill it, besides that. If that's true, it's not like anything we do is going to stop it.
[His thinking out loud sounds dismal and he knows it.]

It's just hard to keep up the cheerful facade when she has friends running right into danger. ]
That's true, but maybe they can figure out a way to contain it. There's no telling what's on the other side. Maybe there's some kind of secret Jabberwocky killing weapon.
I think we should just find a way to shoot it into space.
[ Half hearted attempt at a joke, since she can imagine the thing would just crash land right back in Wonderland like some kind of rude, unwanted meteor. With teeth. ]

What, like Crowley's plan to make another Cage? That's not happening. And if it is, it's gonna blow up in somebody's face.
[Like it'd blown up in his once. He suppresses a shiver of discomfort and tries lamely to latch onto her attempt at a joke instead, his voice growing softer.]
... Space, yeah, I'd vote for that. Anywhere but here.

[ Granted, if anyone knows how to cage a monster, who better than the King of Hell? It still makes her uncomfortable. Nothing good happens when working with demons. ]
Who even knows what's up there. [ Distracted with the thought of launching a fairytale monster into the atmosphere has her looking up. The sky looks pretty normal to her, but is there even an atmosphere or is it all magic? ] I know the angels can't fly out of here, so it'd probably just not work. Maybe there's some kind of invisible magical barrier.

[Especially that demon. Adam's still sore that Crowley had tried to lie to him the same as Zachariah, but he tries his best not to let those sour memories show.
But if monsters went up against other monsters and both sides ended up biting it? Adam wouldn't complain. Nothing that's easy, though.]
This Jabberwocky thing is from here. What keeps us around wouldn't work the same on it, would it?
[It's not much of an answer to Charlie's change in subject, and he doesn't really expect one in return, but... it's true, isn't it? What tends to affect them doesn't work on the native Wonderland freaks and geeks.]
Who knows what could come over those walls one day, it's not like we could get close enough to do anything about it.
