( open-ish? ) Be our guest, put our service to the test
Who: Hannibal Lecter, Alana Bloom, Vanessa Ives + anyone else who wants to chime in?
Where: The kitchen.
When: 1/20 - 1/21
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Hannibal is cooking hors d'oeuvres for the ball and surprise surprise, it's not people.
The Story:
FOR VANESSA: A TEXT MESSAGE SENT 1/20
I was hoping that we could discuss hors d'oeuvres options for the ball tomorrow.
FOR ALANA: 1/21
[ It seems like just yesterday that Hannibal was plating hors d'oeuvres for his own party. Really it was less than a month ago, but how quickly the rabble seems to forget in Wonderland--and yet not quickly enough at all. Having a firm believer in him, long manipulated into seeing only the good, is helpful in times like these. Alana Bloom has always been useful.
She continues to be so, as an extra pair of hands and good company. ]
If you could pass me the garlic please.
ANYONE ELSE: He's cooking, feel free to bother him.

Would you be available to meet in person?

Text; then Action;
[When Vanessa leaves her room, it takes her very little time to reach the kitchen. At her arrival, she'd taken a room many floors above her current one, but that had become too much for her to go up and down multiple times a day; especially in all her layers. This one suited her better, and being on the first floor, allowed her to walk into the kitchen only a few minutes after sending a response. Smoothing her skirts, she quickly crosses the room.]
Hello, I am Vanessa Ives.
[She was much more comfortable in person; the devices still unfamiliar and strange to her.]
Action;
It's a pleasure to meet you in person. Are you hungry, Miss Ives?
Action;
The same to you, Mr.. What should I call you?
[Formality, it was sometimes lost to her here, but, when possible, she would extend the courtesy to others, giving them the opportunity to introduce themselves in whatever way they saw fit.
She looks down at the rice, and nods; Vanessa wasn't against trying new things.]
I would love to join you.
Action;
[ At her affirmation he measures another cup of rice, doubling the quantity and beginning the simmering process with a gentle stir. ]
We're having a Risotto Nero con Seppie. Black Risotto with Cuttlefish.
[ It's a simple evening in the Lecter Kitchen. ]
heee that icon; perfect
I am sure it will be delicious, Doctor Lecter.
[Vanessa steps forward, head tipping to the side as she watches him cook.]
You are a doctor who enjoys cooking, how intriguing. [Multifaceted people appealed to her.] What area of medicine do you practice?
<3
Though the culinary arts are not a far cry from the medical. In one we heal the body, and in the other we create art from it.
You can sit, the Risotto will take some time to thicken. In the meantime we can discuss your Ball.

Yes, the ball.
[She hadn't meant to stay standing, awkwardly positioned, but she had been enraptured by the way he moved, graceful, and quite obviously skilled in what he was doing. Sitting, she folds her hands in front of her.]
It is kind of you to offer your services. What hors d'oeuvres did you have in mind?

She doesn't pick it up again.
Since talking to Will a week or so ago, Alana has felt surrounded by shadows and mist, not sure what exactly is true regarding Will and what isn't. She doesn't like that Hannibal is still seeing Will, and she doesn't trust that Will had told her the whole truth about what had happened back home.
It worries her.
She'd avoided asking Hannibal about it until now, telling herself that he was recovering from a traumatic event at the hands of a misguided demon. But she needs answers, and Hannibal is the only one she trusts to give them to her right now.]
I- talked to Will.

[The thing about being from different points in a timeline is that Hannibal knows things that Alana does not--beyond the usual difference between their levels of knowledge. Hannibal hasn't, since returning to Wonderland, mentioned anything about how their relationship has developed in their own world, nor as he said very much about Will Graham;s release from prison. Mainly, because she hasn't asked. There was no point in burdening her if it didn't serve him in some way. Still, despite the few months in between them, one thing did remain the same: Alana Bloom and Will Graham's relationship had become tense at best, vitrolically distant at worst. He had been wondering how long or how well she could keep ignoring him in close quarters, and it seems now he has an answer.
He looks up from his cutting board in mild surprise. ]
That's good to hear. How did it go?
no subject
He said he'd tried to kill you.
[Should she really be having this conversation with Hannibal? He's capable for making his own decisions and choosing what risks to take- what right does she have to question that? She's just... too concerned about what might happen.]
no subject
He tried to have me killed, which we both know isn't exactly the same as trying to kill me.
[ Not a denial of the facts, but an affirmation of the complexity of it. ]
Did he say anything else?
