The Story:
ALEX ; the roof
[ dean knows there’s something wrong with him, with his head. wonderland is fucking around with his memories again, twisting and turning them into something they’re not. what’s more, and perhaps somewhat more unsettling, are the gaps he finds every time he realises something doesn’t match up.
it means he must be missing memories in turn, along with having some that aren’t his— can’t be his. yet he has no actual answers, nothing to tell him if what he remembers is real or not, so he searches. it’s probably not the most effective way of handling the situation, but with sam and cas and god knows who else after his ass for all the recent murders dean’s had a hand in, he can’t take this to the network. so he searches the good old fashioned way; on foot and through interrogation.
so far? nothing.
dean goes through every floor, some proving to be a whole lot more dangerous than others, but eventually he makes it up to the 10th, and from there to the roof itself. what’s probably most surprising about it all is that the few people lingering about all have colorful wings, beautiful even. they seem to resemble something close to insects, but dean’s not here to collect bugs. no, he draws himself closer, his presence dark to anyone who might have the ability to decipher as much… there’s no real way for him to know if any of these people have anything for him, but no matter, dean has an easy way of getting answers. drawing the first blade, he approaches the closest person to him; the guy is very much shirtless, and has some interesting tattoo work going for him, but that’s not what dean’s here to admire. ]
You’re gonna answer some questions for me.
[ hi alex, have a very sharp, very ancient looking blade pointed at you. ]
WIRT ; near the library
[ his memories aren’t his own and dean is starting to feel unhinged. for one, something inside of him is at war, feelings and emotions bursting forth that he doesn’t remember from before, times with a mother he knows he shouldn’t have, yet remembers so well. and his dad, gone for entirely different reasons, unrelated to hunting, yet his mind desperately tries to fill in the gaps, to make sense of it all.
deeper inside, it unnerves him, sends the demonic thing his soul has twisted into overdrive. being fucked with has never sat well with dean, and now he barely has the patience for it, wonderland’s games tiring at best.
it’s the bright red hat that gives wirt away. dean’s fairly sure he’s never been one for halloween parties — intentions to give a cute girl a mix tape or not — so it has him coming to a halting stop just short of wirt when he spots the kid. he’s dressed up, and dean can’t quite place what it is about seeing him dressed up that triggers the anger inside of him, the gaps in his memories aching further as his mind works harder to correct what he’s supposed to remember and what not. yet all any of it does is leave him more confused, more unbalanced, and a heck of a lot more frustrated.
…and frustrated demons are never a good thing. his shout is aggressive, almost like a bark. ]
Hey— you!
[ see the angry grownup coming right for you, wirt? he doesn’t look happy or very friendly. ]

This is seriously not ever how he imagined himself going out.]
G-getup? I...
[...That's when it finally dawns on him that he has absolutely no idea why he's wearing what he's wearing. He knows he turned up to Wonderland in it, and that's enough reason for him to keep wearing it (because what if Wonderland clothes don't come back with them? That would be horrifying!) but...he can't remember why he put it on in the first place. He doesn't normally dress like this.]
...Was it a Halloween party? [He doesn't sound sure at all, but then he recalls his encounter with Billy he gasps and finally hurries up to his feet.] ...Y-You! Are you the one who has my memories?
no subject
it isn't until wirt mentions the possibility of the memories dean has being his own that-- oh.
it would make sense. in fact, it makes a hell of a lot of sense, the realization dawning on dean's face as he looks down at wirt. ]
How do I know-- how do I cram them back into you?
[ sorry wirt, he's right there in your face again, shaking you like a rag doll, expecting the answers to just drop out. ]
no subject
I-I-I don't know! Not by shaking me around!
[Not that there's anything he can really do about that exactly, other than endure it and hope Dean doesn't pitch him across the hall like a javelin.
However...it actually is helping a bit. Physical contact with the intent of returning memories is actually jogging his memory and making him remember that night, following Sara around and trying to give her...or trying to take something? He remembers fear and dread. It's enough to make him stop struggling for a moment. He goes still as he tries to recall.]
...Wh-What did you-- I mean, what was I trying to give her?
no subject
except dean remembers being there and trying that himself, only to end up failing horribly and having sam step in.
or was it sam-- now that he thinks about it... ]
Mix tape-- a goddamn mix tape, alright? I-- you made it. For her.
[ like a fucking loser.
and boy does it feel good to think that, to realize it hadn't been him, that he hadn't been the massive nerd in all of this. ]

[And then all at once the memory comes flooding back, with all of the horrific embarrassment that accompanies it. His face reddens and he gasps before covering his face with his hands.]
O-O-Oh my god. That's right! I made her a mixtape! Oh no. Oh no no no, why did I do that?
[But that it not the question of someone who can't remember, but of someone who remembers it all too clearly and suddenly, as vivid as the night it happened. Panic sets in all over again.]
That tape had POETRY and CLARINET on it!

dean might be a demon of the worst kind, but even he doesn't want to watch this brat have a meltdown over some dumb mix tape-- one that doesn't embarrass him as much now that the memory is relocating itself back to wirt. it's not his to bear anymore thank god.
dean just... glances off down towards the hallway while wirt panics. ]
Yeah, that's real lame-- and a real shame you're gonna have to live with for the rest of your little life.
[ who the fuck even writes poetry anymore, or plays the goddamn clarinet. jesus. ]
Someone needs to teach you 'bout how to get game for real. Without mix tapes. [ not dean though, thanks. ]

Yeah...it's too late now. My love life is over. Somewhere right now, someone is digging it a grave and not a soul has turned up to mourn it. How pathetic - dead before it even had a chance in the world!
[S I G H.]
She found it and Jason Funderberker, ugh-! Don't even get me started about that guy! They're probably off listening to it and just laughing and laughing and laughing...
[As he thinks about it though...huh. What happened after that? He frowns a bit, realizing there's a gap there still.]
...U-Um. Do you...have any of my other memories, by any chance?
[He looks a little afraid to ask. He really, really, really doesn't want to get shaken again.]
