[OPEN]
Who: Bela and YOU.
Where: All over the mansion.
When: The whole of May.
Rating: PG.
Summary: Open catch all log for May. Anything you want! PM me if you want a specific thing and we'll hash it out.
The Story:
In a few months time, Bela would mark her second anniversary here. Well, she mightn't really mark it with a special celebration or anything, but she wouldn't forget it either. What she would also never forget that each day in Wonderland meant that she had a chance of living a life; albeit one that was threatened by events and other residents. It was still Bela's best chance and she was going to treat it like that.
Like most days, she can be found in the kitchen in the morning or afternoon for food. Maybe even out in the garden for a walk when the weather was perfect for it. There was even the occasional venture onto the roof of the mansion where it was the ideal place to view the stars at night. Bela never really went out beyond the mansion, except for the gardens and occasionally, the checkerboard hills. The routine that she had established for herself worked and aside from the occasional hiccup from an event, she didn't really have to change much about it.
The library was another spot that she found herself going to when she felt like it, before heading to one of the tea rooms for some quiet. Keeping herself busy was important to Bela, just as vital as breathing. It helped to distract from her fate back home- a fate which was pretty much sealed for good.
ooc: Feel free to reply in prose or action :)

[ He's fairly easy in that regard.
Gesturing her along, he heads up the stairs. On one side of the floorplan is a large and tidy bedroom with lots of closet space, and on the other side is a sunroom and small room that's presently serving as a temporary office. ]
Not much to it up here, really. Lotta room.
[ More room than a guy like him is really used to, but he's definitely not interested in complaining about it at the moment. Just having Bela around helps makes even the loneliest room bearable. ]
The wood floors remind me of home a bit.

I like it. Very airy. And I also like the wood floors, they're similar to the kind that I have in my apartment in New York.
[There was only one floor in it, but perhaps Bela could modify her own room here to include a second floor.]
What else would you add to it if you wanted?

[ ... ]
Somewhere nice for the dog. Somewhere nice for the cat.
[ He laughs. ]
Can't believe this is my life. It's sick, isn't it? Feel like I oughta be ashamed of myself, considerin'.
[ If anyone would understand why it feels odd, he suspects Bela would. It's so bizarre how much life can change when a person doesn't even realize it's happening. ]

[Between the rugs and places for their pets, it all seemed rather domestic and sweet. Which was nice in Bela's opinion.]
I don't think you should be ashamed of yourself, John. I like seeing you happy and if anything, you deserve it.
[Although, she does understand where he was coming from. When Bela thought about the things she had done in her life, she wondered if she deserved to be happy herself.]

John dips his head a bit and rubs at the back of his neck. ]
Ah, I dunno. Happy's one thing. Happy livin' with a demon in a storybook world designed to destroy me? Pretty sure that's just called insane where I come from. Definitely where you come from.
[ And yet it somehow works. Crowley's tempered Blake's willingness to sacrifice himself at the drop of a hat and Blake's nurtured Crowley's ability to be a good person. It's been shockingly effective, if not unpopular at times. ]
Well, whatever. Domesticity's nice. Won't get anything like this back home.

[ It was clear to her that he seemed at peace with what he had here, despite everything that could go wrong in Wonderland. Bela had allowed herself that kind of happiness once, maybe she could allow herself it again some day. ]
I wouldn't have had anything like it back home either. Mostly because I chose not to. [ There's a little bit of regret in her voice. ]
Shall we get on with the tour?
no subject
Yeah, let's do it.
[ And from there, it's on to the rest of the too-extravagant rooms. It's open and airy and shockingly bright, which Blake finds to be such a change from his last room. It's comforting, though, in a way that says he's okay with allowing himself to move on to new things, and isn't that exactly what they'd been talking about, anyway?
Hours later, it seems like few topics have gone unaddressed. With Bela's help, and lacking the full use of one arm, Blake's already seeing an improvement on the space around them.
They're just finishing off tastefully filling out the livingroom with throw-pillows when Blake finds himself asking a question that feels much too personal of a reflection on his own midset at the moment. ]
—did you love Jesse? Would you have gone with him?
no subject
Bela doesn't answer the question right away, feeling a pang in her chest. She's not annoyed that Blake had asked it, but she had managed to keep that particular topic close to her heart ever since Jesse had left Wonderland. ]
I did love him. It was unexpected and not at all planned but it happened. [ The pillow she was holding onto gets a squeeze. ] If I had been able to go with him to his world, memories intact, I would.
Anywhere has to be better than where I'm from.
no subject
That includes here?
[ It's an important question, maybe just as important as the last, as far as John's concerned. ]
no subject
Meditation also helps, I recommend it. [A faint smile.]

[ John places the last pillow and then gestures for Bela to take a seat, figuring they both probably deserve a break after a good couple hours of work. ]

[Bela doesn't waste time in settling herself down on the couch, making herself comfortable.]
I'd like to have you join me, yes.

You like to read, right? Maybe we can swap some books some time, too.

[ She curls her legs up on the sofa. ]
I do like to read, yeah. If you have any book recommendations for me, please share. I'll think of something in return.
