[Closed] You're the unbreakable heart
Who: Verity and Evelyn [
nascensibility] & Verity and Loki [
hashtagging] & Verity and Billy [
actualwizard]
Where: Library, 7.3, 7.36
When: 6/3 & 6/4 & 6/4
Rating: Teen (Default)
Summary: Verity seriously needs to learn to defend herself. & Ver is working on Loki's Summer Fashion. & She totally owes someone a thank you but also has an odd request.
The Story:
Evelyn | Library | 6/3
Kaneki had apologised and they'd spoken about the situation and circumstances that had caused the little mishap but that didn't change the fact that she could have easily died if Loki hadn't stepped in. It was a pretty big reality check if she ever had one. She needed to learn to defend herself if something like that happened again. She had no delusions of defeating someone like Kaneki if it happened again, and to be honest, she didn't want to. She just wanted to be able to defend herself without dragging Loki into the mix again. He'd been far too ready to kill for her and it scared her. She wanted to keep him on the path to someone better and pushing him to kill was a step in the very wrong direction. She couldn't be this weak and helpless.
So she retreated to the library. It wasn't an unusual occurrence for her, but she normally kept to the books of pure facts. Her lie detection nagged at her enough here. Science and mathematics were her only retreat. Right now, however, she had a stack of self-defence books. If they made a 'Self-Defence for Dummies' book and the library would let her get her hands on it, she had it. She drew herself back to a corner to keep out of the way and read through several before groaning and letting her head hit one of the books with a huff.
"Reading this stuff and actually doing it are two completely different things..." She muttered in frustration. It wasn't like physics where she could learn the formulas and grasp the theories. No, this would probably take muscle memory, not... memory-memory. "I'm not a damn damsel in distress! I can do this." Good pep-talk, girl. But who are you even talking to?
Loki | 7th Floor Room 3 | 6/4
It was time for a second try at Project: Summer Loki. One that didn't involve nearly dying, anyway. This time she was sans lunch, but instead of books she had something a bit more hands on. She arrived with an arm-full of clothing ranging from Casual Fashion with Bermuda style shorts to Classier Styles. (the latter of which were killer with certain Wiccans, not that she knew this) She also tossed in a lightweight Gothic top to appease his need to be dark and brooding as well as some light and airy Knit type shirts for his long-sleeved desires. She had Other Random things tossed in there from the closet as well.
She managed to shuffle the clothes around in her arms enough to knock on his door. It wasn't even a ten second walk from her door to his, so she hadn't bothered to put much thought into the carrying process. She was just excited to hang out and do actual normal best friend things. No magic heists, no Doom bots, no suddenly too good for Earth-Loki, no game of whack-a-Loki, and no unforgiving snow. Just clothes. So, she knocks twice and waits.
"Are we going to pretend you aren't waiting at the door for me to make sure I actually get here safely?" She muttered at the closed door.
Billy | 7th Floor Room 36 | 6/4
Something had been on her mind for a while now. Wonderland in general gives her a headache and Teddy had suggested Billy could cast some kind of spell on her glasses to filter out the lies, but she didn't want that. She couldn't afford it. If her irritating little power could actually save someone or something or help in any way, she didn't want it completely turned off. But if she could learn to phase it in and out? That would help with the headaches and keep it useful.
But first things first. She stopped and knocked on his door, a Tupperware in her free hand. Hey, she wasn't a master chef like Loki, but she could bake cookies, dammit. Thank you very much, kitchen.

"You didn't have to do anything. I was more than happy to help. Which seems like the wrong way to phrase that. Do you wanna come in?" He asked stepping back into the room and opening the door wider for her.
no subject
"I know I didn't have to but I wanted to. I know cookies aren't nearly high enough compensation for healing my injuries, but I figure it's a start." She reached out a hand to let the puppy sniff her. Don't worry Rufus, she doesn't bite. But at this point she might smell like the bunny she found wandering the halls a few weeks back so please don't eat her.
"Admittedly, that wasn't the only reason I stopped by. And sure, thank you." She smiled and stepped in when he offered.
no subject
"Cookies are a great thank you. I can never say no to cookies." He put the dog down and took the container from her closing the door once she walked into the room.
'What else brings you by?" He asked curiously, Verity didn't normally drop in even if Billy always welcomed her company.
no subject
"I might... well, I was wondering if I could ask you to help me with my ability."
no subject
"The lying thing? What did you want help with?" He was curious, and he wasn't sure if there was anything he could do, depending on what she wanted.
no subject
"I just want to learn to turn it off. Wonderland's found a way when it wants me to believe something, so I know it can be done."
no subject
"Have you ever tried turning it off back home?" Which was important to know, because it might just be wonderland magic effecting her.
no subject
Verity stood back up to stand level with Billy. "I have to try. All I really need you to do is just... tell me a lie. Any lies you want. I'll try to block them out or ignore them or... something. I'll work with you on it--I'll read fantasy books and science fiction--I'll even watch movies until I can learn to ignore it if that's what it takes." She was very, very determined. For more than just her own mental health here in Wonderland.
no subject
He nodded. "We can do that. See if it works, I can try and see if I can figure anything else out. Does Loki know you're doing this?" Because if she wasn't telling him, he didn't want to slip and say something.
no subject
When he asked about Loki, she half smirked. "No, he doesn't. That's the other half of this. Partly for my own mental state, and partly as a surprise for him. He wants us to do hang-out things and our recreational activities are limited by my power. I promised him one day that I'd watch movies with him here, but they'd have to be truthful. Something that won't hurt me to watch. But if we could all just like, hang out and watch something everyone would enjoy? Wouldn't that be amazing?"
no subject
He nodded. "So a surprise, we can do that. I'm thinking about hosting another movie night in August. Maybe we can work on it and that could be your first test?"
