[ Tommy gave an awkward shrug of his shoulder. ]

Place is pretty tight. And messed up.

On a scale of one to a Skrull invasion... [ she quirks a faint smile. Nothing's quite worse than finding out people you were close to aren't those you can trust. ] though I suppose we just have to be patient and get used to it, if we can't negotiate.

Like, most of the time it's a two and then it'll be Skrull invasion for a weekend. It likes to fuck with us and then put things back to normal like they never happened.

[ Natasha gives him a studying look, then, ]

How are all of you dealing? Are you all right?

[ She's no mother or counsellor. But she's also not one to stand by while people are getting hurt. ]

...kinda shitty, really. The last one was rough. HYDRA brainwashing people for fun and profit.

[ His sleep was still not the best. ]

[ Natasha looks for the tension in his shoulders, and then, quietly, ]

Did they get you too, or someone you cared for?

[ Tommy glances away, rubbing the back of his neck. ]

I wish that made me feel better.

[ Tommy rubbed his arm, glancing away. How did superheroes deal with this all the time? Getting brainwashed, turning evil, all that shit. ]

I guess it's just something to get used to.

It's better if you don't.

[ Better to feel every ounce of the horror to know the weight of it — rather than becoming desensitised. But he's young, and the young often play at being tough when they're fragile. ]

I do, however, sometimes wish they made greetings cards for this.
