[ Cullen whirls away from the motion, back pressed hard to a tree for cover. No attack follows. Darkness and a fading voice, and that is all there is. He gives chase after the faint sound of footsteps, past silhouettes of the forest, inconveniently faint in the sudden pitch darkness.

His run stops near as soon as it's begun. Old instincts still call for the mage's pursuit, grudging to veer from the call for such necessity. But that was not the conclusion Cullen's arrived at. He loses Anders in the middle of nowhere, and then what? He catches Anders in the middle of nowhere, and then what? He lacks the means to detain him, let alone escort him anywhere else.

Out of sight, out of mind. Hardly a sound policy under most circumstances, nor entirely under these, but when needs must-- Cullen stares out into the darkness. Reluctantly he frowns, and turns back towards the tavern.
