[OPEN] If you count falling stars to be a bad sign
Who: Chloe Price plus [OPEN] to everyone else!
Where: In the woods, just outside the mansion
When: Evening of March 2
Rating: PG-13??
Summary: Chloe finds herself in Wonderland but thinks she's somewhere else. *dundundun*
The Story:
Chloe is backing away from the edge of the cliff, her sight obscured by the heavy rainfall. All she sees are blurred outlines of the trees, the lighthouse, of her... she who had given her new hope and new happiness over the past week. I'm leaving her, Chloe thinks desperately. The realization came to her, quick and piercing like a blade to the heart that the blue-haired girl is reduced to tears. She puts her hands to her face and closes her eyes. "I'm so.... sorry," she cries out.
And then--
Silence, as if the someone had muted the world. The only thing Chloe hears now is her own crying.
She opens her eyes while the tears continue to fall and looks. There are trees all over the place, their dark silhouettes looming over Chloe. But they are standing still, undisturbed. The rain had indeed stopped, but the lighthouse had disappeared too. So did the cliff and--
Chloe calls out to the woods. She calls out a name again and again until she is hoarse. Has it happened? Has fate finally successfully separated them, after so many failed attempts over the week? Chloe makes her way through the forest, fighting off broken branches and thorny bushes. She keeps calling, half-shouting, half-sobbing. She is lost...
And then Chloe hears something other than her own weeping. A few feet away from her she hears a low rumbling sound, not unlike a thunderstorm. As Chloe moves faster, the rumbling grows louder and louder. At last, she is out of the woods. In the distance is a beautiful mansion, illuminated only by the sudden bursts of light that are falling from the sky but the sky is becoming darker and darker, as if being robbed of all heavenly light.
Are those... stars? Chloe wonders as she continues to watch the shower of light. Maybe it has happened and she 's actually in, you know, heaven (or hell, if you count falling stars to be a bad sign). Chloe stops walking and stares at the mansion. She did it. It's done, she thinks.
"I'm finally dead... And alone again," Chloe mutters bitterly but feeling calmer than she had ever been that night. She gradually stops crying as the reality of death hit her; there is no longer anything she can do. Death has finally caught up to her. If she is indeed dead, then Chloe no longer sees any reason to continue her search. In fact, she doesn't want to find her in this place.
After what seemed like hours, Chloe starts walking towards mansion basked in light and darkness. "Might as well check out my new crib, then," Chloe sighs. "Since it looks like I'll be staying here for like... forever."
[Chloe can be found wandering near the the entrance of the mansion then eventually exploring the first floor.]

Wonderland, huh? Is that what you call this place? Sounds like a shitty way of making people feel better about being in here in the first place.
[She stares at the wall in front of them and mutters to herself.]
Wonderland, my balls. There's nothing wonderful about dying then getting sucked into the afterlife. Not fun at all.
[Chloe faces Dipper and starts talking normally again.]
So what's your story, Dipper? How'd you end up here?
no subject
...this isn't the afterlife. And it's called Wonderland because that's... where it is. Does the story Alice in Wonderland exist in your world?
no subject
Okay, back up. What do you mean "your world"? How many freaking worlds are there? And duh, of course I've heard of Wonderland. Who hasn't?
[Chloe's voice gets a tiny bit louder.]
But most importantly, how can this creepy place not be the afterlife? I was literally seconds away from getting killed before I wound up here.
no subject
Also? Some people from those other worlds haven't heard of it. So it's always worth checking.
no subject
Well, you know a lot for a little kid. [She grins.] What are you, some kind of kid wonder who's super smart and knows everything that's going on?
[Her smile falters a bit.]
So tell me then Detective Dipper, if this isn't the freaking afterlife, then what the fuck am I doing here?
no subject
[It's a bit of a touchy subject, and though he doesn't immediately leave or anything, he does cross his arms defensively.]
This is some kind of pocket dimension. It drags people here and feeds off their memories.
no subject
Okay, okay. You're not a kid. You're a teenager. Glad we straightened that out.
[Chloe feels that Dipper is eager to share what he knows about the place. She could be wrong but she might as well push her luck for more information.]
Since you know a lot for anyone, mind explaining to me why this "pocket dimension" [She quotes the air for emphasis] --whatever that means-- is dragging people away from their homes?
[Not that Chloe's complaining, come to think of it. There's practically nothing left for her back home. But she doesn't tell Dipper that.]
no subject
Also, for the record? No one ages while they're here. I'm gonna still look like this when I'm thirty if I don't get out of here before then. Probably better not to assume you know how old anyone is.
no subject
Chill out, Dipper. Don't worry. Going around and telling people that they look like 50 was not part of my plan. What is up with you anyway?
[Chloe throws her hands in the air.]
You're a kid for crying out loud-- teenager. Whatever.
[She puts her hands in her pockets, her smile fading.]
I'd give anything to be a kid again. Way less shit to deal with.
[Kids these days. So eager to grow up. If only they knew the sort of drama they'd be facing.]
Trust me, Dipper. Growing up isn't exactly a walk in the park.
no subject
Really? The idea of an eternity right at the beginning of puberty sounds fun to you? Do you like when people talk down to you?
[If he was five it might be different, even 10, but being stuck forever at 12 is about the worst thing he can imagine. Just old enough to start to want to experience grown-up things, not old enough to get them.]
Not to mention older people who definitely don't remember what being a kid is like talking about how great and easy it is. How old are you, anyway? You can't be that much older than me.
no subject
Oh please. Boys have it so much easier than girls during puberty. We have to deal with crap like bleeding every single damn month.
[Really, it's no picnic having to suffer through menstruation. It's fucking gross and such a hella hassle.]
I'm 19 but it doesn't really matter. I never let anyone keep me from having fun, even when I was your age. I never said being a kid was easy. Nothing in life is easy. There's always shit to deal with. But being a kid was definitely one of the greatest times of my life.
[Except of course, that time when she was 14 and lost her father. Things went downhill from there.]
But fine, if you're so hell-bent on growing up, then here's some advice-- if you really want people to stop treating you like a kid, then stop acting like one. Stop the whining and stop giving a fuck about what other people think of you.
[Wow, how ironic it is for Chloe to be standing there and lecturing Dipper on how to be more mature when just last week, she was being was told off for being completely childish. I guess meeting someone who's as much of a whiner as you are really puts things in perspective.
Kind of embarrassing though. Arguing with someone who hasn't even hit puberty yet.]

[He rolls his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest. He has a twin sister who will go through that eventually, and he's going to be sympathetic and supportive when the time comes. It hasn't yet. So far, he just gets to be sweaty and awkward and filled with way more hormones than he knows what to do with.]
Whatever. I'm done being lectured. I'm sure some adult will be happy to fill you in on everything that's going on.
[He turns to storm off.]

She knows she'll probably regret annoying Dipper in the future, when she's wandering aimlessly in the mansion later on. But right now, Chloe just wants to be left alone.
She doesn't say anything as Dipper turns to leave. Chloe just puts her hands in her pockets again and turns away from Dipper too. Great job, Chloe, for pissing off a fucking kid.
Ugh, whatever. Worse things have definitely happened.]
