( calendar post log ) Hold up...

Who: Everyone who wants to be in the Calendar
Where: Starting via text, will update
When: Weekend of the 12th/13th
Rating: PG-13ish - possibly higher ratings in a few threads
Summary: IT'S TIME FOR AWESOME PARTY PHOTOS

The Story: [ Saturday morning, everyone who volunteered... Or were volunteered and might not be aware of it yet... will get a text with times and a location of where things'll be starting/happening such as: ]

1st floor. Rooms 100 to 104.
Let me know if you wanna be inside or outside and a time.
Or just come on down when you're ready.

[ For those that Darcy personally volunteered, there'll be something special added to the text with a promise of something... Like booze or brownies or boozy brownies. Eh? One of the nice things about Wonderland is that the rooms can accommodate just about anything. Darcy nabbed a room with some basic photography supplies, as she's not the one doing most of the photos. She doesn't really need to do the whole fancy set up thing. But, the other rooms are empty so people should be able to think of a set-up and go from there. ]

[ OOC: Feel free to put up a top-level and tag around. Just throw up a warning if it treads into NSFW options. Also everyone who participates will find a calendar delivered to their door a few days after the shoots. ]

"I'm not really up to snuff on my photography." When you rub elbows with a lot of artistic types in college you pick up a few things, but that's largely just a vague familiarity with important names and milestones.

He still remembers a lot of his film trivia, and what kind of film major would he be if he forgot the names of his base inspirations?

"Vertov, though. That was a director ahead of his time." And probably to blame for Alex's fascination with capturing some kind of avant-garde feel with his writing. There's a reason he's not an English major. "Griffith, but that's a gimme."

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-03-22 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
She nods at his last comment. "I know Griffith." But like he said, that was a freebie, and she doesn't know him well at all. "Not the other guy though."

She steps away from the last flashgun. "I think I'm all done here," she says, glancing at the settings one more time before attaching a softbox. "Ready to see if we're absolutely terrible at modern technology?"

He steps back to eye his handiwork dubiously. This should be fun. Or, conversely, catastrophic, but it's not his photoshoot he's potentially ruining, so it's not like he cares a whole lot on that count.

"Might as well," he says with a shrug, then smirks. "If it all crashes and burns, we were never here."

She turns to the camera set up in the center of the room, while gesturing Alex toward the photo backdrop. "Stand over there and look important." Before he can protest, she adds, "I know it'll be all-" (hmm what's a good word) "abstract and modern but it's just for the test shot."

And because that was all a bit bossy, she quickly follows it up with, "Pretty please?"
rosswood: (all they'd find would be teeth)

[personal profile] rosswood 2016-03-22 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
He rolls his eyes in token protest, but follows and stands in the indicated area.

"As long as it doesn't end up on January, fine." Or any calendar page, preferably. He doubts Darcy would let that happen anyway, so whatever. They can test white balance to their heart's content. "You sure you want your test shot being snowy?"

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-03-22 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Should be fine..." she mutters. After another moment, she finally takes the shot.

And not a single flash fires. She seems to deflate a bit. "Ugh. I should've seen that coming." She grins up at Alex. "Aren't we so professional?"

But she figures that if none of them worked, then the problem might be with how the camera is set up, not the individual lights. She goes back to examining the screen, fiddling with camera once again.
rosswood: if you don't have friends (how to make a movie)

[personal profile] rosswood 2016-03-22 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
He shuts his eyes as he braces for the flash, but it doesn't come. One eye cracks open.

"...Huh." He heads for the lights instead and re-checks them. "Well, it's not like we're being paid or anything." So that excuses any potential slip-ups, in Alex's mind.

The lights get a once-over, but he can't find anything objectionable about them. Then again, he's a film director, not a photographer, so it's just as likely that there's something wrong there.
mypartnerintime: (I hope I still like photography)

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-03-23 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Max is getting paid in free coffee. But it's free either way, so she doesn't worry much about mistakes during set-up either. Though she obviously wants the photos to come out sell, since everyone will see them. (Wow that's actually a scary thought.)

The more she thinks about it, the more she's sure it's not the lights themselves, but she appreciates him taking a look. Despite the fact it's not really his area of expertise, she knows he helped out with the lighting positions at least.

"I think I got it... Are you feeling lucky?" She gestures toward the backdrop and waits for him to get in position before she tries the shot again.

Which this time is successful. The flashguns fire simultaneously, ending with a high whine as they begin to charge up for the next picture. She has a self-satisfied smile on as she leans down to look at the screen on the back of the camera.
rosswood: (that's not tomato juice)

[personal profile] rosswood 2016-03-23 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
He abandons the lights once Max says she's got it and steps back. This time when the lights do go off he has to shake his head, blinking rapidly to clear the bright spots blossoming over his vision.

"I say you got it," he says lightly. One hand goes under his glasses to rub at both eyes simultaneously. "Yow. Yeah. You got it."

'Course, it probably looks pretty fucked up since he was standing in the shot, and it's not like he does a picture a lot of good.
mypartnerintime: (Thanks for the morning grope)

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-03-23 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
She glances up at him. "Uhh, sorry." A countdown would have been appropriate apparently. Whoops...

She looks back down at the camera screen and lets out a small snort. "Dunno what I was expecting." She detaches the camera from the tripod to show him. "There's tons of crap, but I can see a bit of you and the lighting is... okay?"
rosswood: (your editing lacks continuity)

[personal profile] rosswood 2016-03-23 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Eh." A few more hard blinks, and his vision's cleared up, no problem.

Aaaaand yep, his static-ness has messed up the picture just about as much as one would expect.

"Don't think I can really be in the same room once we get to actually shooting," Alex says dryly. "But I'm more of a behind-the-scenes guy anyway."
mypartnerintime: (Cute robot panda keychain)

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-03-23 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
"You've successfully been behind this one." She smiles at him. "Thanks for all the help."

It would've seriously sucked to have set all of it up alone, if only because of the bad memories. But it's pretty much just the backdrops and other little things that need to be set up now, and Chloe can help with that.

But before he leaves, she does want to really talk about how he is. "Haven't run into Chara?"
rosswood: if you don't have friends (how to make a movie)

[personal profile] rosswood 2016-03-23 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
It's probably for the best if he gets going before Darcy catches wind that he was helping out in the first place. He's not sure if she's the kind of person predisposed to hold a grudge, but he's sure as hell not interested in finding out. Making friends and influencing enemies, that's the Alex Kralie way, apparently.

He pauses, his expression locking up a bit.

"Not yet." Of course, that's not speaking for the next day, or the next, or the next. "You?"
mypartnerintime: (Thanks for the morning grope)

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-03-23 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
"No. I've been cooped up in my room." Or Chloe's anyway. "It's not like I'm avoiding them, though."

Though she's definitely been thinking about keeping Chloe and Chara as separate as possible.

Anyway, at least nothing's happened to Alex. "I'm glad you've been careful."
rosswood: (someone needs to learn white balance)

[personal profile] rosswood 2016-03-23 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Same here." He shrugs. This is the first time he's been out in a while, and it was a pretty safe deal. Duck in, duck out, begone. Max is safe, and he's fairly certain Chara has no interest in watching a possibly R-rated photoshoot.

"I'll ping you if they show up again, but I dunno if it's likely." If he were an idealist, he'd hope that they would simply lose interest. But as it is, he's not that optimistic.
mypartnerintime: (Cute robot panda keychain)

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-03-23 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay. Hopefully everything's uhh. Peachy." Which simply means Chara not hunting around for anyone. Maybe someday even having a regular conversation with them again, because she's still curious.

"Are you gonna go to your room?"
rosswood: if you don't have friends (how to make a movie)

[personal profile] rosswood 2016-03-23 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Things will be "peachy" when someone else puts Chara in the ground, though he's not about to admit that out loud to Max's face. If she thinks Chara can still be saved, well, that's her prerogative. He's not one to believe it. Ever.

"Safer that way." He shrugs tiredly. "Not a lot left to do here. Why?"
mypartnerintime: (Thanks for the morning grope)

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-03-23 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
That is exactly what Max thinks, and she knows Alex disagrees. But as long as he's not planning anymore stab attempts, then... that's enough? But she still needs to talk to him about all of it again, someday.

"You should grab some food on the way. I'd go wih you, but..." She gestures at the photoshoot equipment.
rosswood: (that's not tomato juice)

[personal profile] rosswood 2016-03-23 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll stop by the kitchen then. It's cool."

She can help with the actual picture-taking, since that's her thing and all. And because she doesn't cause bars of static to randomly appear on the screen.
mypartnerintime: (Better than I remembered)

[personal profile] mypartnerintime 2016-03-23 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay! For the record, I'm glad I got you to leave your room for a bit." Have a self-satisfied smile, Alex.

"Keep being careful, okay?" Easier said than done, she knows.
rosswood: most of them could tell you their favorite radiohead song (if you lined up every white person)

[personal profile] rosswood 2016-03-23 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
You know me, he fired back in Max's direction just before this little interaction. He's careful. He's careful as shit.

"Long as you do." He shoots her a cocky salute as he departs.
