( calendar post log ) Hold up...
Who: Everyone who wants to be in the Calendar
Where: Starting via text, will update
When: Weekend of the 12th/13th
Rating: PG-13ish - possibly higher ratings in a few threads
Summary: IT'S TIME FOR AWESOME PARTY PHOTOS
The Story: [ Saturday morning, everyone who volunteered... Or were volunteered and might not be aware of it yet... will get a text with times and a location of where things'll be starting/happening such as: ]
1st floor. Rooms 100 to 104.
Let me know if you wanna be inside or outside and a time.
Or just come on down when you're ready.
[ For those that Darcy personally volunteered, there'll be something special added to the text with a promise of something... Like booze or brownies or boozy brownies. Eh? One of the nice things about Wonderland is that the rooms can accommodate just about anything. Darcy nabbed a room with some basic photography supplies, as she's not the one doing most of the photos. She doesn't really need to do the whole fancy set up thing. But, the other rooms are empty so people should be able to think of a set-up and go from there. ]
[ OOC: Feel free to put up a top-level and tag around. Just throw up a warning if it treads into NSFW options. Also everyone who participates will find a calendar delivered to their door a few days after the shoots. ]

He still remembers a lot of his film trivia, and what kind of film major would he be if he forgot the names of his base inspirations?
"Vertov, though. That was a director ahead of his time." And probably to blame for Alex's fascination with capturing some kind of avant-garde feel with his writing. There's a reason he's not an English major. "Griffith, but that's a gimme."

She steps away from the last flashgun. "I think I'm all done here," she says, glancing at the settings one more time before attaching a softbox. "Ready to see if we're absolutely terrible at modern technology?"
no subject
"Might as well," he says with a shrug, then smirks. "If it all crashes and burns, we were never here."
no subject
And because that was all a bit bossy, she quickly follows it up with, "Pretty please?"
no subject
"As long as it doesn't end up on January, fine." Or any calendar page, preferably. He doubts Darcy would let that happen anyway, so whatever. They can test white balance to their heart's content. "You sure you want your test shot being snowy?"
no subject
And not a single flash fires. She seems to deflate a bit. "Ugh. I should've seen that coming." She grins up at Alex. "Aren't we so professional?"
But she figures that if none of them worked, then the problem might be with how the camera is set up, not the individual lights. She goes back to examining the screen, fiddling with camera once again.
no subject
"...Huh." He heads for the lights instead and re-checks them. "Well, it's not like we're being paid or anything." So that excuses any potential slip-ups, in Alex's mind.
The lights get a once-over, but he can't find anything objectionable about them. Then again, he's a film director, not a photographer, so it's just as likely that there's something wrong there.
no subject
The more she thinks about it, the more she's sure it's not the lights themselves, but she appreciates him taking a look. Despite the fact it's not really his area of expertise, she knows he helped out with the lighting positions at least.
"I think I got it... Are you feeling lucky?" She gestures toward the backdrop and waits for him to get in position before she tries the shot again.
Which this time is successful. The flashguns fire simultaneously, ending with a high whine as they begin to charge up for the next picture. She has a self-satisfied smile on as she leans down to look at the screen on the back of the camera.
no subject
"I say you got it," he says lightly. One hand goes under his glasses to rub at both eyes simultaneously. "Yow. Yeah. You got it."
'Course, it probably looks pretty fucked up since he was standing in the shot, and it's not like he does a picture a lot of good.
no subject
She looks back down at the camera screen and lets out a small snort. "Dunno what I was expecting." She detaches the camera from the tripod to show him. "There's tons of crap, but I can see a bit of you and the lighting is... okay?"
no subject
Aaaaand yep, his static-ness has messed up the picture just about as much as one would expect.
"Don't think I can really be in the same room once we get to actually shooting," Alex says dryly. "But I'm more of a behind-the-scenes guy anyway."
no subject
It would've seriously sucked to have set all of it up alone, if only because of the bad memories. But it's pretty much just the backdrops and other little things that need to be set up now, and Chloe can help with that.
But before he leaves, she does want to really talk about how he is. "Haven't run into Chara?"
no subject
He pauses, his expression locking up a bit.
"Not yet." Of course, that's not speaking for the next day, or the next, or the next. "You?"
no subject
Though she's definitely been thinking about keeping Chloe and Chara as separate as possible.
Anyway, at least nothing's happened to Alex. "I'm glad you've been careful."
no subject
"I'll ping you if they show up again, but I dunno if it's likely." If he were an idealist, he'd hope that they would simply lose interest. But as it is, he's not that optimistic.
no subject
"Are you gonna go to your room?"
no subject
"Safer that way." He shrugs tiredly. "Not a lot left to do here. Why?"
no subject
"You should grab some food on the way. I'd go wih you, but..." She gestures at the photoshoot equipment.
no subject
She can help with the actual picture-taking, since that's her thing and all. And because she doesn't cause bars of static to randomly appear on the screen.
no subject
"Keep being careful, okay?" Easier said than done, she knows.
no subject
"Long as you do." He shoots her a cocky salute as he departs.
