Movie Night!

Who: Anyone who wants to come watch Dinosaur movies
Where: The Movie Theater, Fourth Floor
When: Friday April 8th, 8pm
Rating: PG-13 for Raptors
Summary: Jurassic Park Movie Night
The Story:

As soon as people start showing up in the theater, a gentle song begins playing in the background. They will see the obvious screen on the back wall, but what's more, the seating is surrounded by prehistoric foliage. And in that foliage, stands a hand full of herbivorous dinosaurs. They seem to be grazing on the vegetation without a care in the world. If someone reaches out to touch, the holograms will destabilize as their hand passes right through them only to form back together once the disruption is gone. Even the vegetation seems to be a holographic projection along with the imitated grass floor and night sky. In the four corners of the room, set into the ceiling, are small domes that flicker ever so slightly as they cast and regulate the projections. The occasional T-Rex roar will echo in the background of the music, making the small herd of Parasaurolophus look up with a fright, then lower their heads back down.

The lights dim and the movie begins, the noise surrounding the holograms quiets as to not interrupt from the movies, only to return during the short breaks between films.

If you stray over to the refreshments table, thick brush and tall grass will conceal a deadly pair of raptors lurking. Appropriately themed snacks are set up on the table, including a few sweet treats courtesy of Darcy (including jello shots).

Occasionally, an unwary snacker will come to a fright as one or both of said hunters will pop out of the grass with a sharp, chittering cry. Lucky for the unfortunate victim, the jumpscare is all there is to worry about. The tricky little raptors will slink back down into the grass and lie in wait for their next victim. Don't spill your popcorn, its just an illusion.

You're welcome.

Does it look cool? [ Ellie sort of bounces over to the other girl, grinning. ] Wow, that one's much better. Glad we did that.

[ Maybe she can forget about the Ultra Embarrassing one now. ]

So, was your official job to snap shots of people getting scared, over here? For shame, taking advantage like that.

I mean, does it... talk, or something? Or fly? You know, Gravity Falls stuff.

[ i.e. "what is special about this pig" because there's gotta be something ]

Hey, not a bad skill to have. [ If only you could punch Infected to any effect. ] Takes guts to punch dinosaurs and eagles, I bet.
mypartnerintime: (You are such a dork)

[That's an opinion, Ellie. The embarrassing one and this one are about equal in Max's eyes. She hands over a copy to the younger girl.] I'm glad we did too.

[Max shrugs with a smile and a slight eyeroll.] Okay, okay. I'm sorry about the picture. I just thought it'd be funny. [Which it was, by the way. And judging from Max's smile, it still is.] At least I'm not plastering it on the network.

[Hooray. Darkspawn.

If only they were like the dinosaurs and not solid. That would be a lot better. Too bad he doesn't see it happening. They'll just have to enjoy their compulsory holiday while it lasts then. Preferably without raptors but-]

If we do I'm counting on you to protect me.

[Because he is a delicate flower who can't be expected to fight evil lizards with huge claws and teeth. Hence why he needs her to walk him just down the hall to his room. To keep him safe.]

I've laughed enough for tonight I think. Lead the way.

I'm calling unfair size advantage! [ He gives a yelp when Jo finds his ticklish spot, shooting his wife a betrayed look. Rude. ] I'm being set upon by a pair of shrimps!

"I always appreciate your genius. I'm just sad I can't take it home with me. Probably for the best, though. Jo might murder me one day if it popped out of the shower on her when she wasn't quite awake yet."

So is he, this is why they get on so well obviously.

"As you should. You responsible for the jello shots too, I take it?"

She's half tempted to steal that one too, just on principal, but she settles back and shoots him a bemused grin.

"It's about time you learned that lesson."

Don't think it was his either.

[ She didn't miss the tone in his voice and pauses to consider it a moment as she munches on a handful of popcorn before rolling her head to the side to eye him with easy cusiosity. ]

So. Did you fight any of those? Way back when you came from?

[ When all else fails, the age jokes will never get old. ]

[ It takes a few seconds to register, but the camera she's got with her makes it all click. She took a photo of that? Talk about embarrassing, although it's not really the end of the world. ]

You must have been quick on the trigger to snap that. [ Steve smiles awkwardly and rubs at the back of his neck. ] Do you just like to take pictures, or...?

[ He kind of doubts he's being blackmailed, if she came and apologized to him about it. Besides, it really isn't that incriminating. ]

[ Steve follows her gaze over to Clint and smiles. He'll have to check in with him after the movie. An energy like that isn't something Steve wants to miss out on, even if it's about something like a dinosaur flick.

He glances back to Natasha, eyebrow raised in curiosity. ]

How do you define a classic?

Something enduring.

[ She smiles. ]

I'm old-fashioned that way.

He's just the greatest pig in the world. All he's gotta do is be his own Waddles-y self.

[so basically... no. no he doesn't.] That's our Stan. Full of guts.
beatupgrass: (✘ rocks aren't people.)

[personal profile] beatupgrass 2016-04-27 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, not really. [He knows better that he's more highly evolved and that his intelligence is his best asset, but even that isn't enough sometimes.] You get different fights in different places- sometimes it comes down to the guy with the most brains in his head, but other days it's the dude with the biggest gun wins.

There's too much out there that don't care how clever you are.
heroica: (i wish to remain nameless)

[personal profile] heroica 2016-04-28 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Haven't you said something about traveling through time? [ Had that been him, or had she heard it somewhere else? ] Or... is it just that I'm remembering our different memories from Thedas?

[ She makes a face that matches his own. ]

It all gives me a headache.
heroica: (i wish to remain nameless)

[personal profile] heroica 2016-04-28 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
[ When you recruit them because you're a ranger, obviously!! ]

Are you? [ She looks to Isabela with interest. ] Who is it? He must be... very talented, to make something like this. And very smart.

[ Or so she guesses. ]

Just-- Oh. [ Tentatively, she accepts the shot, peering at it. Then she sniffs it and immediately recoils. ]

It smells awful. [ Robyn comments firmly, wrinkling her nose as she looks back up at the pirate. ] Are you sure they're good?
heroica: (all the broken chords and unnamed cries)

[personal profile] heroica 2016-04-28 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
You know I'll just try and recruit any raptors we find. [ Or-- No, he doesn't know that. He doesn't know as much about her. She bites her lip, looking apologetic, and then shakes her head. ] I, ah... I bring a lot of people into our party. I mean, I did. I think I tend to be a little more forgiving than a lot of the others would like.

[ Morrigan and Sten, particularly. ]

On we go. [ "You decliate flower." Robyn starts off out of the movie room down the hall; she knows that Alistair lives on this floor as she's visited him a few times. ]

Do you think we'll ever have anything like that? [ She asks, glancing over at him as they move. ] Not in our lifetime, maybe, but... in Thedas?

Ugh! Think about it. They want to know our skills. By putting us in stressful situations, we're forced to figure out a way to deal with the new stimulus any way we can. You can't get accurate data just from observing us... watching pre-recorded earth entertainment.

[she waves a hand at the party set-up.]

I suppose. If the Crystal Gems' reactions are any indication, there's a great deal about Homeworld that Earth would find frightening too.

[LIKE THE FACT THAT THEY ALMOST TRIED TO MAKE A COLONY OUT OF THE PLANET UNDER EVERYONE'S NOSES.]

But for me that's just efficiency and the mark of a great pioneering race.
determinedest: (* And with that power...)

[Crystal gems...ah, right! From the fallen stars! They remember those - Amethyst and Pearl.]

I guess. But if we got hit with an asteroid too, I don't think we'd have lasted any longer than the dinosaurs.
